The news headlines just keep coming from Toyota and we at Toyota of Clermont are happy to report some fantastic new events. Awhile back we revealed to you, our readers, that Toyota was committing to releasing not 1, not 2, but 3 electric cars. One being a plug-in hybrid and the others being battery electric vehicles (BEVs). Well readers, it looks like we might be getting teased with one of those BEVs right now. A Toyota Electric Car is Coming Soon to Clermont Toyota had made a formal announcement earlier this year detailing its intentions to proceed with 3 new electrified models. The first one looks like it will be debuting pretty soon and Toyota's tweet is the strongest evidence we have. It reads, "Go beyond limits. Go beyond expectations. Go Beyond Zero." What's it all mean? Let's dive in! Beyond Zero? Toyota's overall mission for the future is to design one in which the automotive market and other technological areas exist without harmful emissions. Of course, Toyota is opting for a gradual process, evidenced by Akio Toyoda, a vocal proponent of this philosophy. Regardless of pacing, Toyota has stuck true to its ideals for a emissions-free future with the launching and continuation of the Beyond Zero campaign. The campaign focuses heavily on producing different alternative fuel sources like hydrogen fuel cells, electric power, and upgrading existing forms of commuting. Examples of this campaign's fruitions include the e-Palette, the Woven City, Mirai, and more. In the context of this newly teased vehicle can we only assume that the new electric car will be incorporated into this campaign. What About the Electric Car? Now for the part you've likely been waiting for us to arrive to. The electric car that Toyota teased. While not in the tweet itself or the accompanying video, Toyota has released some images of a shadowed front fascia. Upon initial observation, the fascia looks about as a large as a Clermont Toyota RAV4 with some cutting angular headlights. It also features Toyota's famous blued-out insignia that's typically hybrid cars. We can assume that Toyota is likely transferring the blue symbol to other models that use alternative fuel. The front fascia brings to mind an electric car concept Toyota introduced some time ago. Is this one of those models moving out of the concept phase? More than likely this new electric car will be the SUV that's been teased by Toyota recently. Apart from that we don't have many other specifics to offer. Not too long ago, Subaru unveiled their upcoming 2022 Subaru BRZ. A new exterior design featuring a new front bumper look, the rear-end had changed significantly, and the body lines were sportier than the previous iteration. Finally, the Scion FRS/Subaru BRZ/Toyota 86 was becoming something new. But, while the BRZ had debuted, the 86 was nowhere to be found. Until today! Toyota has unveiled the next generation of Toyota 86, the GR 86, and it's coming soon! Toyota of Clermont is here with the latest details and what you can expect to see on this new Toyota sportscar when it releases. The Supra's Little Sibling is Making a Comeback The Toyota 86 has always been a main staple of Toyota's versatile lineup. It's the lightweight and affordable sportscar for those looking for something that can handle the track without breaking the bank. It's back for a new generation and it's packing some excellent new features you'll be excited to see! Like the Toyota 86 that came before, this Clermont new model year will feature a low center of gravity stance. The engine will sit low combined with a narrow cabin and horizontal underbody to give it a sporty look. The new 86 will also feature a flat-four boxer-style engine that outputs 2.4-liters as opposed to the previous 2.0-liter output. Reportedly, the new Toyota 86 will be engineered to be more responsive at the push of the pedal. This should afford the Clermont 86 a 0-62 mph time of 6.3 seconds as opposed to its old time of 7.4 seconds. Overall the size and weight of the new 86 should remain consistent with its previous iteration. 2,800 pounds of curb weight is reported. This isn't far off from an estimated 2,785 pounds for the previous generation 86. Compared to the BRZ, the Toyota 86 will only be changing the black grille mesh insert and some engineering modifications. Aluminum will also be used in different areas of the body construction. The roof panels and fenders will be made from the lightweight metal and an updated set of front seats and mufflers will help bring the weight and center of gravity down. Torsional rigidity has been increased about 50% over the previous Clermont Toyota 86 to maintain the smooth ride quality fans of the 86 know and love. The AT trim grade 86 will be using Subaru's EyeSight Driver Assist Technology as its safety system. This includes technology like pre-collision tech, emergency rescue support, and secondary collision avoidance. Regarding the interior of the Clermont Toyota 86, it's more horizontally aligned and driver-centered. A 7-inch TFT screen is the main feature with a new opening animation sequence that captures the unique adrenaline rush one gets when getting behind the wheel of the 86. The Woven City Has Broken Ground Reducing your carbon footprint is immensely important on both a personal and corporate level. Toyota delivered news about a year ago that they were designing a city in the foothills of Mt Fuji that spans 175 acres and seeks to exist free of emissions. At Toyota of Clermont we delivered this news but we're happy to report that ground has been broken on this revolutionary project/experiment. Akio Toyoda was present for the ceremony and reiterated that the intention of the project was a coexistence between environment, technology, and people. The city will include interwoven networks that are specific for various means of travel and commuting, autonomous machines for both assistance and transportation, and a zero net-carbon footprint impact. With the project just beginning, we're excited to see what the future holds. A New TRD Paint Color Might Be Coming If you haven't noticed, Toyota has recently been stamping a unique paint color on every Clermont TRD model. The Army Green paint won the hearts of off-roaders and fans of the edgier side of automotive. The 2021 Lunar Rock paint became an instant hit, so what's next? The battery system would be sold as a compact generator unit to be used for stationary power or as a base for trucks, boats, trains, and more. These carbon-footprint reducing generators are set to release this year but there's no word on availability, price, and to which companies they will be sold to. What's Happening with the Toyota Crown? While we've been getting some great Toyota news lately, the retirement of several models isn't among the greats. The Land Cruiser is reportedly being retired in North America by the end of 2021 and the Crown might be next. Granted, we'll never see a Crown at Toyota of Clermont but this is one of Toyota's oldest and most beloved monikers across the rest of the globe. So, what happened? Well, the SUV craze, for one. Sedans have suffered a downturn in sales during recent years. For the Crown, sales went from around 200,000 to 36,000 per year in recent years. If you're the proud owner of a Toyota Tacoma - or you're thinking about buying one in the near future - we've got big news for you. Toyota is introducing its first-ever TRD lift kit for this much-loved truck, and Toyota of Clermont has all the details on what it can bring to your drive time. Check it out! First things first - this is the FIRST TRD lift kit ever produced by Toyota for the Clermont Toyota Tacoma. Up until now, if you wanted to put a lift kit on your truck you had to explore other avenues (and you would also lack the reliability and longevity of a Toyota product, as well as possibly mess with existing warranties). This lift kit will be dealer-installed, come with all the necessary hardware, and will also offer warranties for added peace of mind. Here are some more details: The kit is composed of Bilstein monotube shocks with digressive valving. Each shock is fitted with a red TRD dust boot, as well as "Tuned by TRD" graphics so there's no question where the kit came from. The front shocks offer an additional 2" of lift. They have an adjusted coil spring position on the shock tube as well as an extended rebound stroke. The rear shocks boost things by 1" in the back. They have a larger shock body than the standard Toyota Tacoma shock. This is a benefit to you because this means they can hold more oil, which in turn keeps things cooler and improves the damping response for better handling on rocky or uneven terrain. The rear shocks also have cast-iron spacers and larger piston and piston rods for enhanced strength. Overall, the lift kit will have enhanced ground clearance by 1.7". Additionally, the angles have all been improved - the approach angle is now +3.1 to 32 degrees, the breakover angle is now +1.6 to 23 degrees, and the departure angle is now +0.5 to 24 degrees. This all translates to much better handling no matter how tough the terrain gets. This new Tacoma TRD lift kit is also designed by and approved by TRD engineers. This means it's the only existing lift kit that is compatible with the Toyota Safety Sense System technology that you'll find in this Clermont Toyota truck. It also has a special, uniquely designed grille with heritage-inspired TOYOTA lettering on it (as opposed to the regular Toyota badge) and a new Toyota Safety System millimeter wave sensor. This is to ensure that the front camera works properly even in spite of the lift kit and additional height of the truck. This new TRD lift kit will be priced at $1,350 and will be compatible with all Toyota Tacoma V6 4x4 models after the 2020 model year. The e-TNGA platform will, in effect, make it so that Toyota can design any one of its vehicles on the conventional and Lexus lineups to be electrified in some capacity. The overall goal of introducing these vehicles and providing more electric options is to allow Toyota's consumer base to enter the EV market from various affordability points. The idea is to lower greenhouse gases over a gradual period of time by allowing drivers to access electric cars in various purchasing stages. Multiple past news headlines point to a possible new electric car being produced rather than just a simple electrified version of an existing model. Plus, Toyota's deal with Panasonic to create more efficient vehicle batteries might bear fruit with this upcoming venture. Unfortunately, news regarding these new electric vehicles is fairly scarce. While nothing has been confirmed by Toyota yet, a report from a Japanese magazine, Mag-X, has eluded to the refreshing of the Prius. Most of the details are well shrouded in mystery, but here's what we know so far: Because Toyota has rolled out the TNGA-C platform en masse, it's likely that the new Clermont Toyota Prius will be based in it. It's highly likely that a new Prius will be styled more aggressively and include more style options for drivers to choose from. It could follow a similar route to its hydrogen fuel cell cousin, the Toyota Mirai, when it comes to style and design. A big question surrounding the new Toyota Prius is whether or not it will include an optional battery electric powertrain. Toyota has eluded to the inclusion of an EV in the lineup previously, but resists bringing one to North America due to a lack of market share and consumer enthusiasm. A new Prius could be the answer. Again, none of this is confirmed, but the secret's out that the Toyota 86 is getting a refresh because it's Subaru-born twin, the BRZ, was unveiled with new style. Mechanically and stylistically the BRZ and Clermont Toyota 86 mirror one another and only vary when it comes to badging. Here's what we've gathered so far: An obvious change to the upcoming 86 is a refreshed exterior look. The front bumper will feature a more open grille design with striking headlights. This gives it almost an Aston-Martin esque look. The stance appears lower and sportier as well. In the engineering department, the Clermont 86 will likely be getting it's signature boxer engine back. This will be a 2.4-liter direct injection boxer 4-cylinder that reps 228 horsepower and 184 lb/ft of torque. While these ratings could change with the Toyota badging, they'll likely remain consistent. RWD will remain along with a front placed engine to achieve perfect weight balance. MacPherson strut front and multi-link rear suspensions return for 2022 along with some track-tuned improvements. Subaru has imbued the BRZ with its own safety suite of features and it's likely that Toyota will include a version of Toyota Safety Sense with the new Clermont Toyota 86. It's also been revealed that the BRZ will feature an improved braking system with enhanced stopping force. Some of the finer improvements include a better multimedia infotainment head-unit, a sporty and hella cool looking digital instrument cluster, and optional 6-speed manual and automatic with paddle shifter transmission choices. The headlines have been abuzz with new about the upcoming Clermont Toyota 86, but there are a few nomenclature tidbits out there for speculation as well. Soon The Toyota GR Yaris was announced for the 2020 model year during a time that seems infinitely far away and the world was stunned by Toyota's hit out of the park. So much so that drivers in North America were clamoring to purchase it from a Clermont dealership. But, fate had other plans. The new Toyota GR Yaris is slated to be sold exclusively in international markets. Toyota did hear people's' cries and has responded with a Hot Hatch specifically for North America that should be coming soon. With an official page on their website made and an announcement made, it's only a matter of time before it arrives. We've chronicled this news already, so what's changed since then? Here are a few speculative points to consider as you wait for the new Toyota GR Hot Hatch to arrive to our Clermont dealership. With the 2021 model year all but finalized it's likely that the GR Hot Hatch will be coming to our dealership sometime in either the 2022 model year or in 2023. Many automotive industry experts and sleuths believe it more likely that 2023 will be the year it finally arrives. But, a lot can change between now and then. Toyota has pledged that their entire lineup will contain an electrified option in some capacity (be that hybrid or BEV is up for debate), but that likely won't be true for the GR Hot Hatch. It's likely that this new Toyota will remain ICE exclusive. Horsepower figures are also up for debate, but many industry experts are speculating that the engine's output could clock in at either 161 or 261. Let's hope that first number is just a typo from one of our sources. It's also likely that the GR Hot Hatch will come permanently equipped with AWD as opposed to having a 2 wheel drive option. This is likely to maintain the sporty nature and stay true to hot hatch design. There's talk that there will be several trim grades up for grabs each coming with unique trim and style choices for drivers to choose from.
