Clermont fall activities

Fun Fall Activities for The Weekend

While we may be in uncertain and unprecedented times, we can still rely on the seasons to come through and deliver those warm fuzzy feelings that remind us of holidays and cold weather (unless you live in Clermont in which case the latter doesn't exist). More than likely you're sitting in your Halloween costume right now and itching to do a fall activity to really get into the spirit of the season. Lucky for you, Toyota of Clermont is here with a list of fall activities you can do to get into the feel of the season. Keep in mind you should do all of these activities while wearing a face covering and properly social distancing. Fall Activities You Can Do in Clermont Carve a Pumpkin There's nothing that screams "fall" more than carving a pumpkin. To get into the feeling of fall you should start by picking out an intricate design and then figuring out the size you need your pumpkin to be. Visiting a Clermont pumpkin patch is highly recommended when purchasing your crop. This way you can support a local business and stay safe outdoors and more easily socially distance. However, if you can't make your way to one, buying one from a grocery store is always a good option (Ina Garten vibes, right?). Bust Out Your Fall Decorations If you're stuck at the house with nothing to do, why not bring out your Halloween and fall themed decorations? This fall activity is perfect for staying safe and it's the perfect excuse for displaying your overly gory decorations and/or putting fall leaves on your coffee table. Many stores are still open and stocking Halloween decorations and if you plan to purchase any new decorations, make sure to wear a face covering and socially distance as well as you can. Make Baked Goods Baking is one of the funnest (and most stressful) things you can do without leaving the house and there are so many different recipes to try. If you're itching to eat pumpkin pie or make various types of cookies, this fall activity is definitely for you! Watch Fall and Halloween Movies For many of us, fall is the only time of the year we dive into the wide world of horror movies and the occasional airing of the "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown." To get into the fall spirit, come up with a list of fall and Halloween movies to watch to pass the time. This is also a perfect fall activity to do in conjunction with other activities like pumpkin carving, decorating, and baking. Have a Picnic Outdoorsy activities are perfect for the fall season in Clermont and they're very safe to boot. We recommend planning out a simple meal with sandwiches, salads, and other easy items and picking a good spot with ample shade and less crowding. Set up a blanket and enjoy the sunshine and (hopefully) cooler weather with this special fall activity. This fall season is quite different from past years', but that doesn't mean you can't make the most of it! Try these fall activities we at Toyota of Clermont have recommended or think of your own. However, always make sure to stay safe with a proper face covering and social distance.

Toyota of Clermont explains the main types of car brakes

Does the thought of car care make you uncomfortable? If you don't really have a firm grasp of what goes on under the hood, we get it - it can be hard to hand over your car keys and hope for the best. However, there's a way around that uneasy feeling... learning the ins and outs of what's going on every time you start your car. Today, Toyota of Clermont is here to explain the basic types of car brakes. Brake service and repairs are critical to performance, and we want to ensure you feel confident when you schedule yours. The main types of car brakes Disc brakes: Disc brakes are the most common types of car brakes on modern vehicles. In this system, you'll find hydraulic fluid, calipers, brake pads, and rotors. When you press the brake pedal, hydraulic fluid is sent through the system to make the calipers come together; this action then pushes the brake pads against the rotors to slow your car's wheels and bring you to a stop. These brakes are more popular and more widely used because they have better performance capabilities than drum brakes. They dissipate heat better (which means they won't overheat and lose stopping power) and they also fare better in wet weather - they dry more quickly to ensure they work no matter the conditions you're driving in. Drum brakes: Drum brakes used to be the more common of the two, but they definitely have their disadvantages (even though they're cheaper to replace than disc brakes). These car brakes basically have a brake drum and inside of that drum, brake shoes. When you press the brake pedal, the shoes are pushed down against the drum to slow your car's wheels. The problem? There are actually two main ones. First, drum brakes can overheat if used too much and too often, leaving you without a way to stop. They also tend to collect water inside the drum when you drive in wet weather. This can lead to both braking issues and also corrosion and rust in the braking system. Parking brake: Your parking brake - also known as your emergency brake - is a brake that's hooked up to the main braking system via a cable (it's usually attached to the rear brakes). This brake is typically used to keep your car in place once it's parked, like if you park on a hill. However, it can also be a last resort should your main braking system give out and you need a way to stop your vehicle in an emergency situation. And while they may not be a type of car brake, per se, we can't not mention anti-lock brakes. Anti-lock brakes technically aren't a type of car brake, but they are a type of brake technology woven into the braking system. The anti-lock brakes sense the rotational speed of each individual wheel and can control it accordingly. If you have to come to a sudden stop, your wheels may lock up. This can cause you to skid (especially if you're driving in rain, snow, or ice). If your anti-lock brakes sense this scenario, they'll send pulses of braking power to the wheel that's locked up to help it slow down and regain traction with the road. Clermont Toyota construction zone tips

Essential Tips for Driving in Construction Zones

No matter where you live (especially somewhere near Orlando) there's always something being constructed on the road. Highways are always changing, small town roads are being repaved, or workers are on the medians and shoulders performing maintenance. We're not used to seeing people outside of their vehicles on busy roads but we have a duty to drive carefully and share the road with workers maintaining the routes we use. Driving through construction zones requires you to pay extra attention to your surroundings and always be aware of what's going on around you. We at Toyota of Clermont have compiled a few tips to help you navigate through these areas with ease and safely. Navigate Through Construction Zones Safely with these Tips Tip 1) Slow Down Clermont construction zones are rife with unfamiliar terrain and workers are often moving throughout the area. There are always posted speed limit adjustment signs and you should adhere to the closely. Traveling more slowly through these areas gives you ample time to react in the event someone enters the roadway or the terrain changes suddenly. Tip 2) Obey Flaggers Depending on how high traffic the construction zone is there will be flaggers there to direct traffic. Always slow down and pay attention to their directions. Tip 3) Watch Out for and Pay Attention to Signs Construction zones are filled with different signs to direct Clermont Toyota drivers and warn of hazards and speed limit changes. It's essential you pay attention to every sign you come across to ensure safe travel through the zone. Tip 4) Drive Defensively You should always practice defensive driving when out on the road. But especially when driving through Clermont construction zones. Be sure to leave sufficient room between yourself and the vehicle in front of you and always be watchful for workers and road hazards. Tip 5) Always Be Ready for Everything It's an unfortunate truth, but construction zones are filled with unexpected hazards and occurrences. To make sure you stay safe you need to be ready for anything and everything. Paying close attention to the road and being proactive can save you from colliding with other drivers, colliding with a person, or running over damaging debris. Tip 6) Use the "Take10" Method When Lane Switching Switching lanes in a Clermont construction zone can be hazardous and scary if you're not careful. If you have to change lanes to make an exit or navigate through traffic more effectively, use the Take10 method. Turn on your turn signal for at least 3 seconds and check your mirrors. Then use 7 seconds to complete the lane switch. Tip 7) Obey All Rules and Signs Until You're Clear of the Construction Zone When driving through these areas, make sure to follow all rules until you've cleared the zone. This will keep everyone and yourself safe. You can resume normal driving and speed limits when you've cleared the construction zone. Tip 8) Be Patient and Prepare for Delays Much like one domino knocks a whole row down, one slowing vehicle causes a traffic jam and construction zones are notorious for creating traffic jams. Make sure to slow down and expect this to happen before traveling. You'll be less frustrated! Ask Us Questions at Toyota of Clermont If you need help or have questions about construction zones, reach out to us at Toyota of Clermont online or by visiting 16851 State Road 50.

A quick guide to car tires

Is shopping for car tires not exactly at the top of your must-do list? We get it - not only are tires not cheap, but there are also tons of options out there so choosing the right one for your vehicle AND your driving needs can be confusing, to say the least. At Toyota of Clermont, we have a great selection of affordable car tires for sale, but we also have a staff full of knowledgeable auto service techs who can ensure you choose the right ones. We sat down with them to build out a quick guide of the main types of car tires - read on. The 5 types of car tires you can shop #1: Summer tires: Summer tires were designed for milder climates that don't dip below 45 degrees in the winter. They work well in both wet and dry conditions and have unique tread patterns with orbital grooves for superior handling in dry summer conditions. They're a great bet for Clermont drivers since we rarely see harsh winter weather. #2: All season tires: All season tires are similar to summer tires - they work well in both wet and dry conditions - but they can also handle light snow and ice if you live in a location that gets milder winters. They're not cut out for climates that see heavy snow and ice, so beware if you're headed north into those types of conditions. You can typically choose from two types of all-season tires: Touring and Passenger. Touring tires offer better handling and are quieter, while Passenger tires provide a smoother ride and tend to last a bit longer. #3: Winter tires: Winter or snow tires are designed to take on seriously heavy winter conditions. They're made from a special kind of rubber that stays soft and pliable even in frigid temperatures and tend to be more durable than all season tires. Additionally, they have deep treads with lots of grooves and fissures to cut through slush or snow and provide you with the best traction possible. #4: Truck tires: If you drive a truck, you've got a lot of car tire options up for grabs. Here are the main subtypes of truck tires: Highway, which provide a smooth and quiet ride even on the highway Performance, which operate well at high speeds and in tricky handling situations Off-road, which are perfect for deep mud, loose sand, and heavy snow All-terrain, which are versatile enough to tackle a variety of terrains including gravel, light mud, and sand #5: Performance tires: Performance tires are great for the track, but they're also great if you just like the feeling of driving at high speeds with excellent cornering and handling capabilities (even if you just stick them on your sedan). You can choose from performance, high performance, ultra-high performance, and competition options. Let Toyota of Clermont help you choose the right car tires Have questions or want to shop car tires? Call Toyota of Clermont today! Have you ever calculated the average number of miles you drive in a day, week, month, or even year? What about car shopping - if you're shopping for an Orlando used car, do you consider the mileage as you explore the options? Mileage is an important part of both car shopping AND car ownership for many reasons, and Toyota of Clermont is here with a quick guide on how to take it into account next time you get behind the wheel. Let's talk about mileage and what it means to you as an owner Daily/Annual driving When it comes to car ownership, it's important to think about your mileage so you know how to properly care for your car. For example, the average mileage for a car over the course of a year is around 15,000 miles. However, we know that some drivers will be under and some will be over that number and that the actual miles traveled for each vehicle will really vary. It doesn't really matter how many miles you drive in a day or a year as long as you care for your car accordingly. This means staying on top of routine car maintenance like: Oil changes Tire rotations Battery service Tuneups Brake service This will allow your car to handle any sort of drive time and stay in good condition so it 1) works properly and offers reliable performance and 2) retains its resale value for when you want to sell or trade in down the road. How many miles are too many miles when shopping for a Clermont used car? Shopping When you're shopping for a used car, you should take a peek at the mileage on the odometer. It's OK to buy a car with a good amount of miles on it, but here are some things to consider: Make sure it's been routinely maintenanced. Proper car care is just as important as the number on the odometer, believe it or not. Let's say you have two cars - one with 60,000 miles and one with 100,000 miles. The car with 60,000 miles has not been serviced regularly and has had multiple owners, while the car with 100,000 miles has been kept on a service schedule and has only had 1-2 owners. You should look into it, but the 100,000-mile car could actually be the better investment for you. Be ready for a bit more expense. After cars hit the 100,000-mile marker, they tend to need a bit more TLC to keep them in good condition. This may make your car care costs go up slightly, so be sure to factor that into your ownership costs overall. Some makes retain value better than others. We're definitely bragging here, but Toyota cars retain value extremely well. Some makes are just better in terms of keeping their value, providing reliable performance, and handling high mileage. Do your research before you shop! Highway miles are better. Highway miles are preferable to urban and suburban miles. Highway miles are actually easier on your car because the vehicle is moving at a constant speed and not stopping and starting all the time - it's easier on the engine and all of the car parts in general.
