And Toyota USA did its best to keep that rumor mill going this weekend when they posted a secret teaser for the *supposed* upcoming 2022 Toyota GR Corolla. See, people have been speculating that a new Corolla hot hatch is headed to the US (these are the same people that were livid when the GR Yaris didn't make it stateside). Toyota USA posted a pic of the Toyota Corolla Hatchback inside and put some I-Spy details in there that people were soon reading into. Here are the hints we gleaned: #1: The clock on the gauge cluster reads G:16, which refers to the G16E-GTS turbocharged engine that's in the GR Yaris (currently available in Europe, much to our chagrin). #2: The road on the navigation is GR Four Road, which refers to the all-wheel-drive system found in the GR Yaris, along with the Torsen limited-slip differential in the front and rear AND the electronically-controlled center differential. #3: The climate control feature rears 268, which is the amount of horsepower that the aforementioned turbocharged Yaris engine puts out. #4: And if you look in the very far corner, you can see a camouflaged GR Corolla on the road. Toyota Tundra pricing finally announced The new 2022 Toyota Tundra is coming soon - like, in a few weeks - and pricing has finally been announced for this much-anticipated truck. The starting MSRP for the base SR model is $44,990, and the truck will be available in 23 different configurations. Toyota Tundra to whip Ford F-150 in resale value Everyone knows that the new 2022 Toyota Tundra is going to be amazing. Power is predicting that it will far surpass the Ford F-150 (one of its main competitors) in terms of resale value, and CarsDirect is predicting that its residual value in a lease will also be the best. Here in Central Florida, it's well known that the sun can do a lot of damage to a lot of things. Our summers are intense, and over time can have a major impact on your car if you're not careful, even leading to car paint oxidization. This is when the sun effectively dries out your car paint, removing the oil in it so it becomes rough, dull, and in some cases, flaky. Our Clermont Toyota body shop is here to discuss car paint oxidization and what you can do about it. What is this type of car paint damage? Car paint oxidization is - unfortunately - pretty permanent. The only way to completely get rid of it is usually to have your car repainted. This is especially true if your car lacks a clear coat - in that case, you need to just call our Toyota of Clermont body shop and set up an estimate appointment. However, there are ways to make car paint oxidization less noticeable. #1: The best way to deal with car paint oxidization is to prevent it from happening in the first place. Park your car under cover as often as you can - a garage is your best bet, but you can also opt for a carport or even trees that offer some protection from the sun. If you've got nothing to protect your car paint in terms of shade, it's time to invest in a car cover to put on while it's parked so you can ward off sun damage that accumulates over time. Another great way to prevent this type of car paint damage is to regularly apply a quality wax. Wax helps prevent sun damage and also keeps moisture away, so it's a win-win. #2: You can try to DIY it when it comes to fixing up car paint oxidization. Here are the tools you'll need to give it a shot: Soap formulated for a vehicle (no dish soap, plz) A sponge Microfiber cloths for drying A rubbing compound An electric buffer with a few different pads Car polish Car wax And here are the steps you can take to try and reduce the effects of car paint oxidization: First, wash your car thoroughly and dry it with the microfiber cloths. You should find a shady spot to do all of your work in - sun is not compatible with car rubbing compound, polish, or wax. Next, tape off anything chrome or plastic in the area where you'll be working on the paint.  You don't want the rubbing compound to touch it. Apply a bit of rubbing compound to the affected area and start buffing it. You'll want to use the slowest speed and the softest pad and take your time - don't rush results. If it doesn't seem like it's doing anything, then you should try using a more abrasive pad or a higher setting. Remember, go slowly! Wipe off the excess compound and apply a bit of car polish, and repeat the process with the electric buffer. Once that's finished, wipe away the excess polish and put some elbow grease into applying a few coats of a quality wax (you can find it at our Toyota of Clermont parts store). Another week, another round of news updates! This week we're talking a lot about performance cars - here's looking at you, Supra - and we've also got the scoop on a new Clermont Toyota RAV4 model headed our way. See what's new in the world of Toyota news! What you should know about Toyota news this week Is a GR Corolla headed to the US? We were super excited to see the iconic GR Yaris put into production a ways back and also super bummed to hear that it wouldn't be making its way stateside anytime soon (Europe, we hope you realize how lucky you are). However, the rumor mill is buzzing and we're hearing that an all-new Toyota GR Corolla is headed into production and would be available in the US. It would supposedly have the same turbocharged 1.6L 3-cylinder engine as the GR Yaris, which translates to 295 horsepower. Further,  it would be arriving sometime in the first half of next year. We're keeping our fingers crossed! Will we see a new manual Toyota Supra next year? When the Toyota GR Supra was brought back onto the market, everyone was pumped. However, there were a handful of drivers who were rather bummed that it only came in an automatic transmission. Well, another rumor is floating around out there that this Clermont Toyota is headed to market in 2023 with a manual transmission option. This rumor isn't far-fetched - the car shares a platform with the BMW Z5, and that car offers a manual option. Here's to hoping! Toyota RAV4 Hybrid introduces SE trim-level RAV4 drivers, rejoice! An all-new trim-level is coming to the hybrid lineup for this much-loved SUV. Previously, drivers could only snag the XSE model in the RAV4 Hybrid if they wanted something supremely sporty. Toyota is now adding an SE trim to give a more affordable - but still supremely sporty - option to drivers. It'll include a 7" touchscreen audio interface and tons of new packages, including a weather package for cold weather and a convenience package for added tech. Toyota GR Supra Funny Car that gets 300 horsepower unveiled Toyota just introduced a new Funny Car (drag racing car) to the market to compete in the NHRA circuit next year - an all-new Toyota GR Supra. Since 2012, they've been putting a Toyota Camry Funny Car in the ring to compete and it's done well, but they're taking things up a notch in 2022 with the iconic Toyota Supra. The car will be commandeered by J.R. Todd (2018 NHRA Champion) and Alexis DeJoria (a former U.S. Nationals Winner). It should hit the track for its big debut next February at the Lucas Oil NHRA Winternationals Race Weekend, and we can't wait to see how they transform the Toyota Supra into a Funny Car - they're usually a lot wider and longer than production cars, so it should be interesting. It's normal to find bugs in your car from time to time - after all, we live in Florida. Seeing a random moth flutter out or a spider trying to sneak its way in your window is pretty typical, especially if you park outside. However, sometimes bugs can become a serious issue for your vehicle... namely, ants. Ants in your car can seem like a minor nuisance but quickly develop into something much larger and more expensive to deal with. That's why we've rounded up some tips on how to handle ants in your car from the experts at Toyota of Clermont's service center. It's more common than you think to get an ant infestation in a car. While ants build nests to serve as a home base, they go out to forage for food and water to bring home. And if they like where they find the food and water enough, they may just build their home base there. If your car has trash, crumbs, or anything else that might serve as an all-you-can-eat buffet, ants may decide to call it home. And even worse, they leave scent trails so all of their ant friends know where the party's at. All of these ants can chew through upholstery, wood, foam, and wires, not to mention bite you and your fellow passengers. So how can you get rid of ants in your car? Here are our top tips on evicting these pests from your Clermont Toyota. Five ways to get rid of ants in your car #1: Detail your car. First things first - you need to detail your car from bumper to bumper. If you can find their nest, destroy it so they have to move on to establish a new home base. #3: Move your parking spot. Find a new place to park. You'll be able to go back to your old spot eventually, especially if you can locate the nest and destroy it, but for now, you want to confuse the ants and throw off their scent trails so they can no longer find your car. #4: Try an at-home solution. Once you've cleaned your car and moved it to a new location away from the ants, it's time to take care of the infestation. You can try an at-home remedy to start. Mix up two cups of water, three tablespoons of Dawn soap, and three tablespoons of salt in a spray bottle. Spray the ants directly with it to kill them; you can also use it to clean your car. Additionally, ants HATE citrus. Mix orange oil into your Dawn soap concoction for maximum deterrent power, or use a citrus-based cleaner when you clean your car. Hopefully, the scent will deter them from wanting to come back and will encourage the tenants to vacate. #5: Go big. If nothing else works for the ants in your car, go big. Hit Lowe's or Home Depot for ant spray to kill the ones you can find, and ant bait or traps to kill the ones that are hiding. New Toyota concepts are always rolled out for this enormous automotive show, and if there's anything we love, it's new Toyotas (especially ones that think outside of the box). This year definitely didn't disappoint as seven new Toyota concepts were unveiled, and our Clermont Toyota dealership has the details on each of them. Keep reading! #1: The "Tacozilla" Toyota Tacoma Camper: We've talked about this incredible concept camper before - at length. They should produce it. Period. #2: A souped-up 2022 Toyota Tundra: We're all eagerly awaiting the arrival of the 2022 Toyota Tundra (follow us on social for updates and we'll keep you posted on the ETA). Toyota debuted a lifted and decked out model at SEMA this year - it has a 3" lift and is sporting some of the 100+ accessories that will be available when this redesigned truck hits the market. #3: A 2022 Toyota Tacoma Overlanding Concept: If you're a fan of overlanding, you're going to love this new Toyota concept. Cruiser Outfitters and Toyota collaborated on this Tacoma to dream up a truck that's truly ready for anything. It was built by the Toyota Motorsports Garage Team and offers a new wide-body kit, a custom roll-bar with two spare tires mounted on it, a custom-mounted road jack, a long-travel suspension system, and other recovery equipment necessary for desert rescue. #5: A TRD Sport Trailer: If the new "Tacozilla" camper is a little much for you, consider this new Toyota concept trailer. The TRD Sport Trailer is constructed from a Tacoma pickup bed and boasts features like a scissor lift and an elevated platform, a Yakima four-person tent, a slide-out sink, a fridge,  a hot water heater, fresh and gray water tanks, a stove, and additional lighting for the campsite. #6: The GR Supra Heritage Edition: This Toyota concept has actually been unveiled once before, but it was to such fanfare that Toyota brought it back to SEMA for another go around. This GR Supra is retro-inspired with headlights, taillights, and a rear wing spoiler that hail back to the 1990s when it was in its heyday. It also boasts 500+ horsepower thanks to a retuned engine and a turbocharger, bigger brakes, a custom push-rod rear suspension, and bigger wheels and tires. #7: An open-top GR Supra Concept: This open-top new Toyota concept car is a feat of engineering. You can remove the top and stick it in the trunk to stow it, but there's no crossbar obstructing the view above. Instead, you'll see nothing but open air as engineers carefully designed this concept for structural ridigity and safety. The pandemic has upended quite a few things in our lives. First, toilet paper went scarce, and now just about everything else is. Yes, this is the modern world knee-deep in the Covid-19 pandemic and there's no real end in sight when it comes to production resuming to what it was prior. Not only has supply been constrained by supply chain woes, shipping route issues, and short staffing, but inflation is starting to take its hold on many products. This is simple economics at play and there's little we can do as consumers to fix the issue(s). Car buying right now is another issue to add to the laundry list. If you're in the market, my main question is why? If you're also shocked by the exorbitantly high prices of modern car shopping, you're not alone! Toyota of Clermont is here with some quick tips to help you work through pandemic shopping and still get a good deal on a new ride. How to be an Effective Pandemic Shopper Car buying is an interesting predicament right now. Dealerships that once sported "rock-bottom pricing" and "great deals" are now selling many of their new models before they even make it to the lot. Ones that do make it without being sold while in transit are usually sold for MSRP with pricing addendums attached. In all honesty, buying a Clermont Toyota car right now is inadvisable. You're going to wind up paying significantly more for a depreciating asset and unless circumstances prevail, you'll probably not make back as much as you spend when it comes time to trade. With all that in mind, there are still ways to avoid sinking more than you need to into a new ride. Patience is Key Let's start off by reiterating what I said above, car buying is inadvisable right now. It's incredibly expensive to get behind the wheel of a ride that, just a little less than 2 years ago, could have been purchased for $10K-$15K less than MSRP. Hence why patience is key here. If you don't necessarily have to delve into the car buying process right now, then don't! If you have a reliable ride that might be a few years old that you're still paying off or that you have paid off, it would be better for you to wait. However, for some of us, a car is necessary to get to and from work, school, and other obligations. If your old ride has died on you or you can't stomach using your current ride any longer, then you have little choice. Shop Around. Like a Lot Such as the key to car buying any other time in your life, shopping around is key to finding the best deal. While vehicles are in short supply and dealerships are having little issue selling what they have (and don't yet), they still want your business. Inquire with multiple dealerships during your shopping process and find the best deal before you pull the trigger. If you can wait and extend your shopping time further, do it. You might lose out on a particular vehicle, but if you can save a few thousand or more, it'll be well worth it. Be Flexible Keeping your options open during your Clermont car buying process is key to making sure you walk away satisfied and not in dire financial straits. Expand your optional palette beyond the new car you're looking at. Consider driving a smaller vehicle to not only decrease buying expenses but the price of filling up as well. Check used vehicles and see if it'd be more economical. If you have the unique circumstance of living in a city that's more compact than Orlando or Clermont, consider using a bike or other means of transportation instead of a car. Your bank account will thank you. As we said, Clermont car buying is dicey right now. But, with enough persistence and patience, you can find something that won't make you want to smash your piggy bank in a fit of rage.
