Toyota officially the top-selling automaker in the US

We know we're biased here at Toyota of Clermont, but we also know that Toyota is one of the best (ok, who are we kidding, THE best) automotive brands out there. And it looks like we're not the only ones who think so - for the first time in 90 years, Toyota has officially become the top-selling automaker in the United States. It's not an accolade to take lightly, and it definitely points to the fact that drivers love our brand. Toyota bumps GM from number one spot How did it happen? Basically, GM has been the top-selling automaker in America every single year since 1931 - talk about a winning streak. However, Toyota threw a wrench into their long-claimed victory this year by coming out on top for the first time in 90 years. Here are the details: In 2021, Toyota sold 2.3 million cars in America, which was a 10.4% increase from the year 2020. Keep in mind, this is all with the insane semi-conductor chip shortages, factory and plant shutdowns, and low inventory, too. In 2021, GM sold 2.2 million cars in America, which was a 12.9% decrease from the year 2020. Sales of both cars and trucks were up last year for Toyota. Alternative fuel cars (like hybrid cars) sales totaled 600,000, a whopping 73% increase from the previous year. Additionally, the Toyota Tacoma sold 5.7% more units than in 2020. Top-selling models included the Toyota Corolla, Toyota Camry, Toyota Highlander, and Toyota Tacoma (all of which are extremely popular options at Toyota of Clermont). Why are our Clermont Toyotas so popular to consumers, though? Here are just a few of the reasons Toyota continues to come out on top across the board: Affordability: When you shop for a new Toyota at Toyota of Clermont, you know that you're not only getting quality, but also getting affordability. The Toyota lineup is an extensive one, spanning sedans, hatchbacks, trucks, SUVs, crossovers, minivans, and hybrids. Not only that, there are so many different trims and add-ons available that it's easy to find exactly what you're looking for. Safety and reliability: Toyota is renowned on a global scale for offering cars that embrace both safety and reliability wholeheartedly. These cars last for decades and well past the hundred-thousand-mile mark and need minimal repairs even in their high mileage years. On top of that, Toyota is fully committed to vehicle safety. They have a facility in Ann Arbor, Michigan devoted solely to safety research and all of their vehicles routinely Eco-friendly vehicles: You can also count on a great selection of eco-ffriendly alternative fuel vehicles when you shop our Clermont Toyotas. Toyota Corolla commemorated in a new manga series

We all know that when it comes to Toyota cars, the Toyota Corolla is an icon. This global best-seller is loved all over the world for its reliability, its sporty performance, its fuel efficiency, its affordability... the list goes on and on, but to get to the point, it's a fan favorite for a reason. And if you don't believe us, just look at the sales - Toyota just hit the 50 million mark in terms of Corollas sold worldwide. Obviously, it's got something going for it. And Toyota things so, too. They're celebrating the major milestone of selling 50 million of these fan favorites by commemorating the car in a new manga series! This all-new comic is available online only in Japan - we're not sure when or if it will be available in print - but we know you can work your internet magic and get your hands on a copy if you really try. Here's what we know so far about this cool new comic series featuring none other than the Clermont Toyota Corolla: It's written in Japanese (hence it only being released in Japan). The comic covers the history of the iconic Toyota Corolla from inception to the present day and hits the highlights of its design and performance. Things kick off in the 1960s (when the Toyota Corolla was first introduced to the market) with a father bringing the all-new first-gen model to show his family and take them for a ride. The next scene features a 1970s father and son duo taking the next generation of this iconic Clermont Toyota out for a spin together, having a heart-to-heart. The 1980s showcases the still-popular AE86, one of the most sought-after iterations of the Corolla. Jump into the 1990s and the scene features a family taking the Toyota Corolla out for a drive and some ice cream. For some reason, Toyota decided to skip over the 2000s and 2010s, diving right into the 2020s to show off the updated technology featured in this Clermont Toyota. The artwork is time-period-centric, featuring design elements appropriate for each era. The stories aren't made up - they're actually based on real-life Corolla drivers who submitted photos and accounts of their experiences behind the wheel for Toyota to consider for the manga series. But you don't have to take a manga series' word for it - why not see for yourself? Get behind the wheel of a new 2022 Toyota Corolla at Toyota of Clermont! It's waiting for you and decked out for the new model year with features like Amazon Alexa, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Sirius XM Satellite Radio, and more. Plus, it comes in nine different models, including two special Apex Editions and a Nighshade Edition AND a hybrid model for even better fuel efficiency (the other models get an incredible 31/40 mpg). Don't wait - test drive it today! You can shop online OR in person. Toyota of Clermont is conveniently located just off the Florida Turnpike at 16851 State Road 50. You can call us seven days a week at (352) 404-7000!

Toyota of Clermont's tips for driving in traffic on Christmas weekend

Toyota of Clermont's tips for driving in traffic on Christmas weekend

Christmas weekend is almost here! We're betting that your day-to-day commute has been pretty easy this week - the kids are out of school, fewer people are going into work, and traffic is at a low. However, that's about to change. Christmas Eve is a notoriously busy day for travel, as is the day after Christmas (especially when Christmas falls on a weekend). Are you ready to handle driving in traffic on a busy holiday weekend? Toyota of Clermont is here with tips. driving in traffic Driving in traffic on Christmas: What you need to know Tip #1: Prepare your car for the road. Are you ready to hit the road for Christmas? If you're getting on the highway to visit friends and family, you definitely want your car to be up for the job. This means staying up to date on auto services at Toyota of Clermont like oil changes, tire rotations, battery checks, and brake service. You don't want to be stuck on the side of the road with a breakdown or a blowout, so prepare your car ahead of time for the open road at our Clermont Toyota service center. Tip #2: Check conditions before you leave the house. Driving in traffic is never fun and almost always stressful, so prepare yourself. Check road conditions and weather before you leave so you're ready for anything. If there's bad weather or bad traffic that's going to cause delays, you can reroute your trip or at least prepare yourself mentally and leave early so you have some extra time. Tip #3: Stay ahead of the game by leaving yourself extra time. Speaking of which,  you should leave yourself extra time anyway. Just because there aren't any delays before you leave doesn't mean they won't happen along the way. If you give yourself extra time to get to your final destination, then you're a lot less likely to speed or drive aggressively to get where you're going. Tip #4: Be ready on all accounts for winter weather. Are you heading north to celebrate? If you're going to encounter snow or ice, you need to be sure that both you AND your car are ready for it. Winter weather is a game changer, and you need to ensure that your car is ready by checking your fluids, tires, heater, and defroster before you leave. Additionally, make sure you're fresh up on how to drive safely in snowy and icy conditions before you leave. Tip #5: Stay on task behind the wheel. It's so easy to get distracted when you're behind the wheel, and we get it. It may be the most wonderful time of the year, but it's also one of the busiest, especially for adults. Between screaming kids, endless texts and phone calls, and the stress of driving in traffic, it's easy to give into distracted driving. Don't do it! Use voice-to-text in your Clermont Toyota, distract the kids with a holiday movie in the back, and use our tips to bring down the stress of driving in traffic this Christmas. Clermont Toyota tips

Toyota of Clermont explains how to transport a Christmas tree

It's Christmastime, and that means it's time to deck the halls! If you haven't already brought your Christmas tree home yet (or if you just want to squirrel this info away for next year), then we've got tips, as usual. Transporting your Christmas tree isn't quite as simple as just pitching it in the back of a truck and hitting the road. Check out what our Clermont Toyota experts have to say about it! Five tips for transporting a Christmas tree Tip #1: Be ready before you go. Plan ahead when it's time to transport a Christmas tree so you can save yourself time and money (and your sanity). Choose a day with good weather; even though driving a tree through rain and snow won't necessarily hurt it, you will have to wait for it to dry out before you can bring it into the house. And driving with something tied to the roof in windy weather is never a solid idea. Additionally, know how you're going to get it home. Will you put it in the bed of your Clermont Toyota truck? Will you have to tie it to the roof of your vehicle? However you're getting your Christmas tree home, make sure have the right supplies to do it. Tip #2: Bring something to wrap the tree in. Which brings us to our next point. Usually, when you buy a Christmas tree from a lot, they'll put it in netting to keep it secure on your trip home (and side note: make sure to cut that netting up when you're done with it #savethewildlife). However, it's always a good idea to stash a big blanket in the back of your Clermont Toyota in case there's no netting available. You can roll the tree in it like a Christmas burrito to protect both the tree and the roof or bed of your car from scratches and tree sap. Tip #3: Know how to use your roof. If you're going big and strapping your Christmas tree to the roof of your car, there are a couple of things to keep in mind. If you have roof racks, use them - they'll help prevent scratches on your vehicle's roof and they're a secure point to tie the tree down. If you don't, throw a blanket over the roof to prevent scratching. You're going to want to face the tree so that the trunk is at the front of your car to help prevent wind damage to the branches. Open your car doors FIRST and tie the tree down (don't tie it down through the windows, because then you've effectively tied your doors shut. Good luck getting into the driver's seat.). Use rope or twine to tie it down in three places - the top, middle, and bottom. Tip #4: Secure it in the bed of your truck properly. If you're going the truck route and want to toss the Christmas tree into the bed of your Clermont Toyota, that's fine - just make sure you tie it down properly at the tie down points to prevent a gust of wind heaving it into the car behind you on the highway. Tip #5: Adjust your driving habits. Whether you've got a Christmas tree on the roof or in the bed of your truck, slow it down. Don't take sharp or fast turns, and try not to slam on your car brakes. Merry Christmas from Toyota of Clermont! Have questions or need more tips? Call Toyota of Clermont at (352) 404-7000 or stop by. new Toyota concept cars

Is a new batch of EV Toyota trucks coming?

Big news in the world of electric vehicles - Toyota recently announced in a a Battery EV Strategies meeting that two new electric Toyota concepts were in the works. Get ready to meet the all-new Toyota Tacoma EV and Compact Cruiser EV. What are the new Toyota Tacoma EV and Compact Cruiser EV? The truck world is a pretty great place to be already; the new 2022 Toyota Tundra has started to arrive at dealerships across the country and brings with it a completely new design as well as brand-new hybrid technology under the hood. However, things just got a little sweeter with these two new concepts. We all know that Toyota has pledged to put more hybrid and EV vehicles in its lineup so it can reduce its carbon footprint; in fact, by 2030, the company hopes to have at least half of its vehicles available in green variations. That's why while these concepts are just that - concepts - it doesn't seem too farfetched to say that they could one day actually become production cars.   So what would they have to offer if they did actually go into prodiction? Here's what our Clermont Toyota dealership was able to glean from the details that were released by Toyota. The Clermont Toyota Tacoma is due for a refresh - we're all very well aware of that. And it's been suggested that 2023 is THE year for it and that a whole new generation of this much-loved truck will emerge, just like the Toyota Tundra in 2022 (remember, Toyota kicked the V8 engine in this car to the curb and replaced it with hybrid and turbocharged V6 options). Therefore, it stands to reason that the next generation of the Toyota Tacoma could very well offer an EV model. Plus, have you seen the concept? It looks very much like a Tacoma (although some are speculating that it could be a bit bigger in size, landing somewhere in between the current Toyota Tacoma and the Toyota Tundra). But honestly, if you swapped the grille for something a bit more tradition, you'd think you were looking at a Tacoma. And let's not forget the performance benefits of an electric vehicle... instant torque and horsepower for majorly enhanced capabilities. What about the Compact Cruiser EV? Looking at this concept Toyota takes us back to the early 2010s when the Toyota FJ Cruiser was still in production and life was good. It's eerily reminiscent of that popular off-roading icon, although it also shares elements with the Toyota FT-4X concept that was released back in 2017. And here's why we think this concept could become a real "thing". First, the Toyota Land Cruiser was retired from the US market this year, leaving a hole in the off-roading lineup. Second, Toyota needs something to compete against the new Ford Bronco and this compact SUV would definitely fit the bill. Get the latest Toyota news from Toyota of Clermont So, will we see these two new Toyota EV concepts in our stores anytime soon? Fingers crossed, but follow us on social media for updates. Car care tips: How to save your backseat from kids

Kids are messy - there's no getting past it. From birth to around age 18, they can trash the backseat of your car faster than you can say "no snacks in the car". Crumbly cookies, spilled juice, dirty baby wipes, melted crayons... they can all do a number on the condition of your Clermont Toyota, and usually, as a parent, you're so busy that you just have to wait until your next car detailing to do anything about it. But those crumbs and spills and clutter can attract bugs, leave you unable to find what you need, and even become projectiles in a car accident. Our team at Toyota of Clermont is here to help - check out these car care tips to help kid-proof the backseat of your car a little better and keep the mess at bay. Five car care tips to kid-proof your backseat Tip #1: Buy a trash can for the car. Always have a trash can in the car and teach your kids to hand over their trash as soon as they're done with it. Stowing trash will make it easier to keep the backseat of your Clermont Toyota free of clutter and crumbs. Make sure you get a trash can with a lid to keep everything inside of it (an old plastic cereal container works wonders) and be sure to empty it often, especially if you throw food in it. Tip #2: Look into a small handheld vacuum. It's also a good idea to keep a small handheld vacuum in the car - you can get a battery-operated one and leave it in there all the time. This way, yo u can clean up crumbs as soon as they appear and prevent a huge mess from accumulating in the backseat. It'll save time and money and make your car detailings much, much easier! Tip #3: Never leave home without wipes. Always carry wipes with you, whether you have Lysol wipes, baby wipes, or both. They're critical for cleaning up spills, wiping sticky fingerprints, and keeping your backseat pristine. Keep them in your glovebox and check them routinely to make sure they haven't dried out. Tip #4: Organize the toys. Keep your kids' toys organized in the car - remember, if you get into an accident, they can quickly become projectiles! No one wants to get knocked out by a Buzz Lightyear. You can store them in a big Tupperware (with a lid) on the floor or buy a cheap shoe organizer to hang on the back of a seat for organization. Seatback pockets are also a great place to store books and tablets. Tip #5: Get all-weather floor mats. Consider swapping your carpet floor mats for all-weather mats. These rubber mats have deep channels and grooves to keep spills, dirt, and debris in one place, and they're easy to pull out of the car and either shake off or hose down. Shop for car care accessories today at Toyota of Clermont! Get shopping - Toyota of Clermont has all the car care supplies you need to kid-proof your car's backseat! bad driving habits

What should you do if you encounter road rage?

If you've ever dealt with someone else's road rage when you're behind the wheel of your Clermont Toyota, you know how just scary it can be. Aggressive driving puts everyone in danger (and can also leave your vehicle a total mess), and that's why it's critical that you know how to handle it should you ever face it while out on the road. That's why we've come up with some Clermont Toyota tips to help you cope. What is road rage? Toyota of Clermont explains. Believe it or not, aggressive driving is very common. According to a recent AAA survey, at least 80% of all drivers have felt significant rage or frustration while behind the wheel in the last year. And unfortunately, those feelings often lead to erratic, aggressive driving (otherwise known as road rage). Road rage is when a person engages in dangerous behaviors due to anger, including: Speeding Tailgating other drivers Cutting people off Refusing to let other drivers change lanes or pass Intentionally driving slowly Honking, yelling, and making rude gestures Trying to stop and have a person-to-person confrontation Bumping or swiping other cars on purpose What causes road rage? A multitude of things. It can be things as simple as bad traffic, a delay due to construction, or the driver running late and being stressed out about it. Aggressive driving can also be a learned behavior (and thus "the norm"), and anonymity can also factor in. If a driver feels like they won't ever see you again, they may not have as much of a problem with being rude to you. And finally, you just get those real masterpieces who have zero regards for other drivers or the rules of the road. Four tips for handling road rage Whatever the cause, road rage is dangerous for you, your passengers, and your car and can lead to a bad car accident. Check out these Toyota of Clermont tips on how to handle it like a pro and stay safe on the road. Tip #1: Refuse to engage. Do not engage with a driver who has road rage. Don't honk back, don't yell, don't try to drive aggressively in retaliation. Not only does bad behavior take your attention off the road, but it also can add to their anger and put you and your passengers in a very dangerous situation. Tip #2: Get out of the way. If you notice a driver with road rage, try to get as far away as possible as you can. Change lanes, slow down or speed up, or if you have to, get off the road and pull into a parking lot to leave plenty of space in between yourself and the angry driver. Tip #3: DO NOT stop. No matter what, don't stop and engage in a person-to-person confrontation. This is exceptionally dangerous and can also land you in a lot of trouble. Tip #4: Make sure they don't follow you. If you encounter someone with road rage, watch your back for a bit after you get away from them to make sure they don't follow you. Want more tips? Call Toyota of Clermont today! In fact, Toyota USA released ANOTHER teaser image on its Instagram page. It features the Toyota Corolla Hatchback - at first glance, no big deal, because this car is already in production and sitting on our lot right now. However, if you look more closely, you'll notice a GR Corolla prototype hidden in the shadows in some camouflaged wrap, as well as notable letters on the red shipping container above the Corolla (NA is for North America, G16 refers to the engine in the current GR Yaris, which is only available overseas). We're betting that this new Toyota will be officially announced pretty soon... follow Toyota of Clermont for Toyota news updates. Toyota to go zero emissions for European sales by 2035 Toyota is all about going green (and has been for quite some time). They're taking things up a notch over in Western Europe; they recently pledged to ensure that ALL of their sales in Western Europe will be zero emissions by the year 2035. Not only that, they stated that half of their global lineup would be zero emissions by 2030. This means if you want to go green for your next car, you'll have plenty of options. Why not? Have you SEEN the new Toyota bZ4X? New Arctic Trucks Russia Land Cruiser revealed We're already missing the iconic Toyota Land Cruiser. Although this much-loved SUV was a luxury vehicle, it also possessed major off-roading capabilities that made it truly one of a kind. While it's discontinued here in the US, it's still up for grabs overseas (in fact, a new 200 Series was just unveiled). Arctic Truck Russian got their hands on one and modified it for taking on tough Russian winters (think snow - lots of it). Five safe driving tips for when you're being tailgated

If you've ever been tailgated, then you know how simultaneously scary and aggravating it can be. Tailgating is when someone is driving too closely to the back of your car because they want you to either go faster or get out of their way. It's an aggressive and dangerous tactic, and more often than not leads to collisions and accidents. Think about it - if you have to come to a sudden stop and they're driving too close to the back of your car, it's more likely than not that they won't be able to stop quickly and will hit you. What safe driving tactics should you use when someone is tailgating you? Tailgating is a dangerous situation to be in, and that's why the experts here at Toyota of Clermont have put together a quick list of safe drivin g tips on how you should react when you find yourself in it. Tip #1: Don't panic (or get really mad). It's easy to panic when someone is literally almost touching your bumper - what if they run into you? It's also easy to get angry (they're rude). But you should try to maintain your calm in this situation so you can get yourself and your car safely out of it. Focus on the task at hand - getting out of their way so they can go around and harass someone else. Tip #2: Don't speed up just to appease them. Don't feel like you have to put the pedal to the metal to appease someone who's tailgating you. If you're going the speed limit, stick to it! It's there for a reason - to keep all drivers on the road safe. Let the other driver go around you; you shouldn't have to drive at a speed that you're uncomfortable with just to make them happy. However, you should remember that it's frowned upon to drive in the left land and prevent people from passing, so if you are, move your Clermont Toyota over. Tip #3: Gently tap your brakes. Sometimes people tailgate without even meaning to because they're distracted. A good way to ask them politely to back off is to let them see your brake lights. You can gently tap your brakes to get the lights to illuminate and alert the person behind you to back off. However, resist the urge to brake check people. This is when you slam on your brakes to scare them - it's very unsafe and can result in them running into the back of your Clermont Toyota. Tip #4: Move out of the lane and let them go around you. An easy way to get rid of a tailgater while still employing safe driving is to just get out of the way. If you're on a multi-lane road, scoot over and let them pass. Be sure to move at a safe speed and use your turn signals to indicate your movements. Tip #5: Don't get mad. Tailgaters can be infuriating, we know. But road rage is a real thing and you don't want to end up in an accident because you were rude to an aggressive driver. Plus, when you're rude, it takes your mind off the task at hand... safe driving. Visit Toyota of Clermont for more safe driving tips! If you need more safe driving tips, we're your go-to.
