Ah, the Toyota Land Cruiser. Cultural icon, a living legend, a piece of major Toyota history, and current luxury icon. This massive SUV has it all. It can traverse the most uneven terrain, it's perfect for valet service at the fanciest of places, and it looks really cool. Needless to say, the Land Cruiser has a lot to live up to going forward as it's fulfilled many facets of the automotive world throughout its long history. While currently in its J200 generation, and with the recent release of the Land Cruiser Heritage Edition, the Cruiser is primed for a remodel. Recently we've been wowed by redesigns for the Clermont Toyota RAV4, Corolla, Highlander, Supra, and Avalon, but we're definitely ready for more. What We Know so far About the 300 Series Land Cruiser The Toyota Land Cruiser has been a mainstay in Toyota's lineup for generations and the J200 Series has been around since 2007, if you can believe it. After 13 years, it's about time for an update! Toyota has seemingly confirmed that a new model Clermont Toyota Land Cruiser will be arriving soon. Here are some of the rumors circulating the inter-webs concerning the new Cruiser: The new Land Cruiser may be receiving several new engine and drivetrain designs. These new options include a rumored 4.8-liter V8 gasoline powered engine and a potential 3.5-liter V6 paired with a hybrid drivetrain. The hybrid engine seems plausible for this model year Land Cruiser as Toyota currently produces that engine and drivetrain combo for the Lexus LS500. All engine options will likely be mated with an 8-speed automatic transmission. There is a rumor circulating that there might be a potential Constant Variable Transmission (CVT) transmission option available on the Clermont Toyota Land Cruiser. However, this may not be likely due to Toyota's likelihood of maintaining the off-roading qualities of the traditional Cruiser. It's also likely that Toyota will use 4WD on all trim levels for the 300 Series Land Cruiser. This will ensure that each model will be able to have some off-roading capability. This would be consistent with the J200 Series (most recent model generation). It's obvious that the Toyota Land Cruiser has quite a high price tag (yes, we know). It is the most luxurious Toyota available on the lineup (unless you decide to go with a Lexus), but the high MSRP has barred many Clermont drivers from getting behind the wheel of one. Because of this, Toyota may offer the 300 Series at a lower entry price by including new engineering options. This would bring it into the realm of the Toyota Tacoma, Tundra, and 4Runner when it comes to off-roading accessibility. The new Toyota Land Cruiser will be here soon. When you hear the term "turbocharged", you probably automatically associate it with the word "fast". And you wouldn't be wrong - this type of engine has a reputation for letting you really put the pedal to the metal. However, do you know exactly how a turbocharged engine works and what it does for your drive time? Toyota of Clermont is here with answers. What are turbocharged engines? Turbocharged engines are typically found in vehicles built for speed, like the new Clermont Toyota Supra. It's got a turbocharger under the hood for its inline-six engine, and rumor has it that the 2021 model year will bring TWO turbocharged engine options to the market for drivers to choose between. But to really understand how this type of charger can benefit your drive time, let's take a closer look. A turbocharged or "turbo" engine has the ability to enhance fuel efficiency and boost your car's power (again, why it's so popular for drivers who like to get where they're going fast). Here's a basic breakdown of what goes on under the hood in this scenario: Turbine power is used to create forced induction - basically, extra compressed air is pushed into your engine's combustion chamber. Turbocharger, supercharger, or both? The extra air being pushed into the chamber means that in turn, more fuel will be pulled into the chamber. This improves power and gives your engine a boost because the extra fuel combusts at a faster rate than an engine that uses "normal" aspiration. However, turbocharged engines haven't always been called by that name - they were originally designated as turbosuperchargers because back in the day, "supercharger" meant any engine that used forced induction (or forced compressed air) to boost power and fuel efficiency. However, there's a distinction between the two types of chargers now - here's the lay of the land: A turbocharged engine uses a turbine that's powered by the engine's exhaust gas to subsequently force that extra compressed air into the combustion chamber. A supercharged engine, on the other hand, uses a mechanically-driven process. This type of charger is usually powered by a belt attached to a crankshaft. And just for reference's sake, a twincharger is an engine that uses both. Which one should you aim for when trying to boost horsepower in your vehicle? Because there's a brief period of time between when you demand increased power (or when the throttle opens) and the actual act of pushing the extra compressed air into the combustion chamber. Why? Going all the way back to 2017, we've known for some time that a new Gazoo Racing (GR) concept was in the works at Toyota (and we're not talking about the beloved GR Clermont Toyota Supra). It's been a while, but we finally have more information about the fabled Toyota GR Yaris! Believe it or not, hatchbacks make excellent racing vehicles and Toyota has taken one of its most compact models and turned up the heat. While we have the sporty Toyota Corolla Hatchback in the current lineup, this new model has us with visions of checkered flags and finish lines dancing in our heads. While we don't know many of the more specific features of this new vehicle, we do have some new information to reveal that will have you just as excited as we are! News About the New 2020 Toyota GR Yaris New Body Style New images of the Clermont Toyota GR Yaris have been revealed and there's no camo! This means we can discern the exact looks of the new Yaris and we are definitely impressed. The new Gazoo Racing concept revises the look of the current model year Yaris by removing two doors. The new GR Yaris opts for a coupe/hot hatch three door design that ups the sporty feel of this once compact economical hatchback. The front bumper fronts a much more aggressive look and stance that pairs well with some beefy wheels. The roof-line slopes smoothly right into a rear spoiler and dual-exhaust tips. New Engineering Features While these are just rumors and speculations, we believe that there's plenty of truth to these claims. The new Clermont Toyota GR Yaris will be powered by a turbocharged 4-cylinder gasoline engine that could be paired with an all-wheel drive system. Some other rumored, but very notable, features include a manual gearbox, a drifting-friendly handbrake lever, and even an intercooler water spray button. This system is used on many racing vehicles to better regulate the temperature of the motor and increase output power. If the rumors are true, the Clermont Toyota GR Yaris will have this function included as an OEM system. New Interior Features While the interior remains largely similar to the sedan counterpart of this Toyota model, there could easily be a change between now and the official reveal date of this mighty racer. So far, we can see that the new GR Yaris will include new GR badging throughout the cabin along with button functions for some of the new engineering features we listed above. Here are some of the unique features of this special vehicle: Exterior Features The Toyota Raize draws on inspiration from both the typical SUV and the compact vehicle by creating the best of both worlds. The body is 157 inches long (the Corolla is around 182, to give you an idea) but still uses 17-inch wheels and accented fenders to give it the SUV look. The front bumper maintains an aggressively angular design coupled with thin LED accent lighting. There are eight body colors available along with optional R-coded roof colors for an ever more stylish look. Interior Features To create a more driver-centered experience, the new Toyota Raize's interior is designed to encase the driver for a less-distracting commute. The head-unit and shift knob are placed for ultimate ease of access. The front seats have been designed with a different shape for additional comfort. Luxurious plating and red accents draw the interior design together. The LED speedometer is state-of-the-art allowing drivers to choose their preferred style of information display while showing drivers essential information without the need to distractedly browse. The Clermont new Toyota Mirai will sport superior cabin noise cancelling along new technology features like an 8-inch touchscreen combination meter, an optional digital rearview mirror, a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen, and a 14-speaker JBL sound system.
