Could you call a Clermont Toyota Tacoma home?

Could you live in a tiny home? It's all the rage lately - minimizing your possessions and simplifying your life enough to live in an extremely small space. However, one man has taken living in a small space to a whole new level - he's actually living in the bed of his Toyota Tacoma. We've got the scoop here at Toyota of Clermont and we're wondering - could YOU call your Toyota Tacoma truck home if given the opportunity? Could you live in the bed of a Clermont Toyota Tacoma? The man in question is Andy Cochrane, and he's called the bed of his 2015 Toyota Tacoma Double Cab home for a while. But what led him to minimize his lifestyle to this extent? In an article in Outdoor Magazine, he explained that the rental property he was living in was sold, he totalled his hatchback in a bad car accident, and moved back home with his parents. This gave him the opportunity to consider adopting a nomadic lifestyle and he bought a 2015 Toyota Tacoma Double Cab - a van just wasn't going to cut it for the off-road adventures he planned on seeking. He had to make a few alterations, however, in order to bring some of the comforts of home with him. Here are some of the features he added to this Clermont Toyota truck: A 3" lift A new Leer 180 truck bed cap to literally put a roof over his head All-terrain tires to ensure the truck is adventure-ready A custom-built drawer that runs the length of the bed. This services as storage for books, kitchen supplies, and more, and slides in and out to create more space. 4 cubbies resting over the wheel wells for storage space, as well as a new roof rack for storage above the truck Special LED lights inside the bed for lighting at night (since this is where Cochrane sleeps) Fiberglass windows that open and close in the bed for circulation, as well as Reflectix insulation and a small fan to make the bed more comfortable A foam mattress and a variety of bedding Cochrane also chose to make some changes inside the double cab, too. He was reticent to give up the seats in the back but ultimately tore them out and added features including: An additional storage cubby for clothing and shoes, as well as a space for all of his dog's gear A small refrigerator, which is powered by a battery hooked up to three solar panels located on the roof of the truck A propane tank to operate his portable cook stove Water jugs for extra water storage And he's ready to hit the road and find any adventure. And thanks to the versatile nature of this Toyota truck, he can go pretty much anywhere! Shop our truck inventory for your next ride today Could you do it? Versatile new 2019 Toyota Prius gets all-wheel drive option

The Clermont Toyota Prius has always been a popular option for drivers who want something sleek, technology-driven, and fuel-efficient, not to mention incredibly eco-friendly. However, its curb appeal is being taken to a whole new level for the 2019 model year - it will now feature two models with all-wheel drive, giving it a versatility that it's never offered before. Taking on slick or snowy roads will be easier than ever from behind the wheel of this new Toyota hybrid, and Toyota of Clermont has the details on what it will be showcasing for the brand new model year. The 2019 Toyota Prius will be more versatile than ever Before we talk about style and technology, let's talk about performance - specifically, all-wheel drive. The 2019 Toyota Prius will feature AWD-E and the "E" stands for electric. This means that the all-wheel drive system doesn't have a center differential or front-to-rear driveshaft. It actually has an independent electric motor to power the rear wheels. However, the all-wheel drive system is actually on-demand so the car recognizes when it's needed and when it's not. And when it's not necessary, it'll turn all-wheel drive off so you can get the best fuel efficiency possible. Here are some more performance highlights: A new multi-link rear suspension system and lower center of gravity for increased handling and sportier maneuvering A new Nickel-Metal Hydride battery that takes up less space (it fits under a rear seat) and can handle cold weather like a champ Seating for 5 thanks to 65.5 cubic feet of interior space and 60:40 split rear seats, plus new roof racks with cargo crossbars so you can easily carry bikes, a luggage rack, a canoe, and more Now let's talk about everything else the 2019 Toyota Prius will have to offer when it finally gets to Toyota of Clermont - here are some of the details: Two new paint colors - Supersonic Red and Electric Storm Blue - and a new 15" alloy wheel design A new trim-level system - now the 2019 Toyota Prius will come in L Eco, LE, XLE, and Limited. All-wheel drive will be available on the LE and XLE models. A SofTex trimmed interior with heated front seats and a temperature regulated steering wheel Standard Toyota Safety Sense P with Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, Automatic High Beams, and Dynamic Radar Cruise Control Standard smart key system with push button start and available Toyota Safety Connect, Vehicle Proximity Notification System, and Adaptive Front Lighting Entune Audio with navigation, 3 USB ports, Bluetooth, advanced voice recognition, Siri Eyes Free, and a 6.1" touchscreen interface Upgraded fuel efficiency of 58 mpg in the city and 53 mpg on the highway for major fuel savings Follow Toyota of Clermont for updates on this hybrid fan favorite We can't wait for it to arrive at Toyota of Clermont and we don't have an exact date yet, but follow us on social media for updates! For Clermont Toyota drivers, it’s difficult to say if this technology will make its way into your next Toyota Corolla or RAV4. However, Uber does intend to outfit Clermont Toyota Siennas with autonomous vehicle technology for testing purposes with the hopes of real-time application and testing in 2021. Best new SUVs

Toyota Highlander beats Honda Pilot in terms of luxury & safety

Family-friendly vehicles are a dime a dozen and it can be hard to wade through the selection and choose just one. You want safety and convenience, but you also want efficiency, versatile performance capabilities, and a fair amount of space on the interior, too. Plus, it doesn't hurt to have some style going on! Toyota of Clermont is here to help. We think that the 2018 Toyota Highlander is the ultimate when it comes to family-friendliness, and we're not the only ones. It recently was voted as the better option when it comes to its main competitor, the Honda Pilot. Why is the 2018 Toyota Highlander your best option for a family-friendly ride? How does it do it? They're pretty similar when it comes to size and performance... but the Clermont Toyota Highlander pulls ahead of the pack when it comes to safety and luxury options, and that's what made it take the top spot when in competition with the Honda Pilot. We've got the details! First, let's talk about safety because we know that's a main concern when it comes to family vehicles. This Clermont Toyota comes standard with Toyota Safety Sense P, which means even on the base model you'll get features like lane departure alert, a Pre-Collision System with pedestrian detection, automatic highbeams, and dynamic radar cruise control for highway driving. It also comes with a handy backup camera to give you an extra set of eyes. Its Honda competitor doesn't offer any of the above features on the base level except for a backup camera. You're definitely getting more bang for your buck with the Toyota option when it comes to safety! Let's talk luxury next. Sometimes you just want to take your drive time to a new level, and this new Toyota SUV gives you the tools to do it. It comes with a larger touchscreen for your audio system, as well as more USB ports for hooking up your devices and charging. It offers a CD player (not found on the Honda Pilot) and also boasts features like a standard MP3 player, standard navigation, and comfy rear bucket seats. See where this Clermont Toyota pulls ahead of the pack Here are just a few other areas where the 2018 Toyota Highlander surpasses its Honda competition: Fuel efficiency: This Toyota SUV gets 21 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway. The Honda Pilot falls behind in the city, getting just 19 mpg, and breaks even on the highway with 27 mpg. Horsepower/torque: Our Clermont Toyota gets 295 horsepower and 263 lb/ft torque and comes with an 8-speed transmission; the Pilot gets 280 horsepower and 262 lb/ft torque and comes with a 6-speed transmission. Towing: You'll be able to pull up to 5,000 lbs standard with the new Toyota option; its Honda competition only allows for towing up to 1,500 lbs. Space: Stretch out in the Toyota Highlander - it offers 4 more inches of legroom in the front. It's easy (in our opinion) to see which of these SUVs should make its way into your driveway, so what are you waiting for? Schedule a test drive today! Call Toyota of Clermont at (352) 404-7000. We're open seven days a week!

Hydrogen fuel cell technology available in the Toyota Mirai.

Toyota’s push for affordable hydrogen fuel cell technology

As the world develops and implements new forms of renewable energy for automobiles, Toyota has found it’s stake in the game, hydrogen fuel cell technology. Unlike hybrid, gasoline, or electric engines, hydrogen fuel cell engines will use hydrogen as their main source of power. While Toyota has developed a vehicle with this capability, the Toyota Mirai, the technology is costly and hydrogen pump stations are very few and far between. Toyota’s goal is to bring hydrogen fuel cell technology to more places, like Clermont, and make the technology more affordable and accessible. Toyota of Clermont is here with all the details on Toyota’s mass-production goals and when you can expect to see hydrogen fuel cell technology at the dealership! The benefits of hydrogen fuel cell technology It seems strange to use hydrogen fuel cells when there are options like hybrid and electric engines used to power Clermont Toyota vehicles. But, hydrogen technology is one of the cleanest forms of energy production that requires little maintenance and works similarly to gasoline engines. Here are some of the benefits to using hydrogen fuel cell technology in Clermont Toyota vehicles: Hydrogen is one of the most abundant elements on Earth and can be produced and harnessed through a variety of means. Like electricity, it’s readily available and its efficiency depends on how its produced. Hydrogen fuel cells work similarly to electric engines in cars, but they never need to be recharged. They are refilled with hydrogen at pumping stations that are like gasoline pumps. Using this technology can reduce carbon dioxide waste product by 90% and water is the only thing emitted from the tailpipe. Fuel cell engines have no moving parts and don’t require an oil change. Because of their great efficiency, hydrogen fuel cell technology engines can travel farther than a gasoline engine whole using half the amount of hydrogen a typical engine would use in gasoline. Toyota’s plans for mass-production A few of the issues facing access to hydrogen fuel cell technology is its lack of availability to Clermont Toyota drivers and the fact that the technology is expensive. But, Toyota hopes to change all of that by mass-producing fuel cell vehicles. Currently, the Clermont Toyota Mirai is being improved to be more compact and efficient and could be available in the early 2020s. But, Toyota isn’t stopping there. With plans to reduce expensive materials in the engine and move towards incorporating hydrogen fuel cell technology in SUVs and pick-up trucks by 2025, Toyota aims to prove that this technology is the best source of clean energy for automobile operation. There are also talks of improving the driving range of hydrogen engines from around 300 miles (the typical range for a gasoline engine) to around 620 miles! Shop hybrid technology at Toyota of Clermont Renewable energy is the future of the automobile industry and it’s not as far away as you might think. While the only current fuel cell equipped vehicle is the Clermont Toyota Mirai, Toyota of Clermont has several hybrid vehicles that will cut back on emissions and save you at the pump! Check out vehicles like the 2018 Prius, Prius C, Prius Prime, 2019 Avalon Hybrid, 2018 Camry Hybrid, 2018 RAV4 Hybrid, and 2018 Highlander Hybrid. All are in our inventory and Toyota of Clermont waiting for you to take a test drive! Call us at (352) 404 – 7000 to get things set up!

These two Clermont Toyota models are well deserving of their accomplishments and the teams even more so.
