Toyota MR2 Speculation and Electric Car Talks

Electricity. It shocks you when you take your clothes out of the dryer, powers your home, and could be the sole power source of your new Toyota MR2? Vehicle electrification has been an ongoing trend in the automotive industry but has recently accumulated a lot of steam. Toyota began their electric car journey back in 1997 with the introduction of the Clermont Toyota Prius to the world. Since then Toyota has stayed true to its electrification roots by constantly improving the quality of its hybrid vehicles and expanding the drivetrain type to vehicles across the lineup. But, what's the next step? Where do we go from here? Enter the Toyota MR2 It's well-known by now that we exist in an age where nostalgia is king. It's the reason why we've seen the revival of the iconic Clermont Toyota Supra and recently the reintroduction of the Toyota Venza. Everyone loves a good revival and return story. Combine that with Toyota's promise to electrify every vehicle on its lineup by 2025 and you get quite a few interesting theories on what might happen next. One popular theory is that the Toyota MR2 is due for a return and we can definitely see it. This model was an 80s mid-engine icon that many drivers have fond memories of. The body style was unique along with its engine layout being one of Toyota's only vehicles with a mid-engine design. The storm is right for a return of this iconic Toyota sportscar, but will it return as an electric car? Here are some of the speculative points surrounding this Clermont Toyota electric car theory: The Toyota MR2, if revived, would likely return as a light and agile sportscar. It's difficult to tell whether or not the rehashed model will be designed with a mid placed engine or if it will be redesigned entirely. It's likely that the MR2 would be electrified in some form or another. Toyota has pledged to electrify its entire lineup by 2025. This doesn't mean that the MR2 will be an entirely electric car. It could return as a hybrid as opposed to something that's fully electric powered. Akio Toyoda himself has expressed the desire for a triumvirate of sportscar on the lineup and two slots of three have already been filled. With the Supra and the 86 already in production, it would make sense for the MR2 to re-emerge. Like the Supra and 86, it's likely that the MR2 could be co-developed with another auto manufacturer. As to who, your guess is as good as ours. The starting MSRP of the alleged Clermont electric car Toyota MR2 will likely be $40,000-$45,000 and be released sometime around 2024. This could fluctuate depending on options and the drivetrain type that Toyota chooses. Shop Electrified Toyota Models at Toyota of Clermont Today! New Toyota News for This Week

No matter what's happening in the world, Toyota's world continues to spin. Our favorite auto manufacturer doesn't miss a beat when it comes to making headlines and bringing something new into the world. This week we have some new Toyota news for you, follow along with us at Toyota of Clermont! New Toyota News Coming Your Way 2021 Clermont Toyota Corolla Cross Coming Toyota was set to reveal the Toyota Yaris during the Geneva Motor Show but was opted for a virtual reveal due to the COVID0-19 pandemic. In a similar fashion, our favorite auto manufacturer revealed the upcoming Corolla Cross. This Clermont new Toyota model will be released in Thailand and not North America. However there's still speculation that this model will make its way to our dealership. Toyota still intends to add a new SUV to lineup in N America soon and this could very well be it. New Special Edition Toyota Supra The Toyota Supra has been back in production for a short time now and we've seen several special editions including the Launch Edition. This year we have a 4-cylinder Clermont Toyota variant along with the base model receiving a small boost in horsepower. But, what if we told you a future Supra could be packing over 500 ponies under the hood? According to a Japanese car website, a GRMN model Clermont new Toyota Supra could be coming soon and might pack the BMW M3/M4 engine under the hood that reps over 510 horsepower. This could also mean that the modern Supra could fall out of production by 2025. Good Luck Finding a Toyota RAV4 Prime The new Toyota Clermont RAV4 Prime is coming soon to our dealership and we're excited to welcome this new model. That is if we get any inventory. A report from publisher Electrek claims that the Toyota only plans to release 5,000 units of the RAV4 Prime in North America. Allegedly, Toyota claims this is due to a shortage of supplies needed to construct the lithium-ion battery. Some good news, the Toyota RAV4 Prime has better than expected EPA numbers. The original MPGe estimate clocked in at 90 and the EPA reports 94. The all electric range was initially reported at 39 and clocks in with the EPA 42 miles. Diesel Engines on the Tacoma or Tundra? There are several rumors surrounding the arrival of a new Toyota Tundra and the possibility of it including a hybrid drivetrain. Those speculations aside, there's reason to believe that Toyota might try to bring a high compression engine to its truck siblings. A patent from Toyota, originally filed in 2019, was made public this month and reveals plans to produce an engine that exerts more force behind piston motion and yields better compression. This could create better power and emit less fumes. The patent doesn't state whether the engine will use gasoline or diesel and has us wondering if this engine will ever see the light of day and which Clermont new Toyota model we'll see it in. New Toyota Corolla in Clermont

Toyota Corolla. This is the Remix

The Toyota Corolla is arguably one of Toyota's most iconic vehicles. It's affordable, dependable, stylish, and the globe's best selling car. Beginning with its first generation all the way back in 1966, this Clermont Toyota sedan has seen and done a lot over the years. Today, drivers around the world have a plethora of options when it comes to experiencing the Corolla (or 'Rolla for short). At Toyota of Clermont, we've compiled a list of the various 'Rolla remixes in the world so you can see how diverse the Toyota Corolla nameplate is. The Endlessly Remixed Toyota Corolla 2020 Toyota Corolla The Corolla recently entered into a new design generation that brings stunning style and a plethora of other upgrades to the table. This model year introduced the first ever 'Rolla hybrid and two different fascia designs based on the trim level you opt for. This model is marketed in North America and available in Europe, Asia, and several other countries. Toyota Corolla Hatchback Also available in North America is the Toyota Corolla Hatchback. As a replacement for the previous Toyota Hatchback iM that was discontinued, the Clermont Corolla Hatchback uses the most current generation model and adds a rounded rear end. This 'Rolla model provides a sporty take on the typical sedan model and pairs well with a manual transmission if you're looking for a hot hatch feel. Toyota Corolla Hot Hatch Drivers in North America couldn't stop talking about the Toyota Yaris Hot Hatch that's only available in countries across the pond. Toyota listened and is now giving us a hot hatch in Clermont. However, it won't be based on the Yaris. Knowing this, we can only assume that a hot hatch Toyota Corolla is on the way. This model will likely feature the racing-ready 3-cylinder engine of the Yaris Hot Hatch along with other upgraded interior and exterior features. Toyota Corolla Touring Sport What some drivers refer to as the Corolla Wagon, the Touring Sport is available in Europe, Asia, and several other countries. This particular model adopts a station wagon body as opposed to a sedan or hatchback. Toyota Corolla Cross Just revealed for the Thailand market, the 'Rolla is going crossover. Weighing in at a bit larger than the Clermont C-HR and a tad smaller than the RAV4, the Toyota Corolla Cross will fill a niche in the SUV market. While it's only been announced for Thailand, we suspect that we may see this 'Rolla model make its way to Toyota of Clermont. It will feature both gasoline and hybrid engineering configurations, front wheel drive, and a Continuously Variable Transmission. There are a variety of Toyota Corolla models out there and we wish we could have every single one here at Toyota of Clermont. While we may not have the Corolla Cross (yet), we do have the stylish hatchback, base models, and soon the hot hatch! Check them out at our dealership today. You can find us at 16851 State Road 50 or shop our inventory online anytime.

car parking brake

What you need to know about your car parking brake

When was the last time you serviced your car's parking brake? What about using it - can you recall the last time you put this important part into action? Regardless of whether or not you use it often, it's important to know the ins and outs of your car parking brake so you know when it can benefit you, HOW to use it, and what you need to do to take care of it. Toyota of Clermont is here with all the answers you need straight from our auto service techs. 4 things to know about your parking brake 1. You should never drive with the parking brake on. Driving with your car parking brake on can do major damage to your braking system. It can wear down your brake pads quickly, as well as cause excessive heat in the system that can do other types of expensive damage. You'll typically realize pretty fast if your parking brake is on when you drive - the resistance is very noticeable. However, it's also a good idea to check it to ensure it's actually off before you hit the road. 2. You shouldn't engage it before you put the car in park. Many drivers put their car in park and then engage the parking brake. You should do the opposite! When you put the car in park and then put the brake on, it causes the car to rock back, which puts weight on the transmission. Instead, find your parking spot and put the car parking brake on before you take your foot off the brake (while the car is still running). After the brake is engaged, put your car into park and switch it off. 3. There are several different types of parking brakes. There's more than one type of parking brake; it varies based on your vehicle's make and model. Some cars (like the Clermont Toyota Prius) simply have a button to engage the brake. Other cars have a hand brake. It's located in between the driver and passenger's seat (near your gear shifter). You engage it by pulling it up until it locks and then release it by pushing the button on the end and pushing it back down. Other cars still have a foot brake pedal. It's located down near the accelerator and actual brake pedal, and you push it down with your left foot to engage it. To release it, you simply push down it and then let go. 4. Your parking brake needs to be maintained and adjusted. Just like any other car part, wear and tear will take its toll on your parking brake, especially if you use it often or if your car has been sitting idle for a while. Let our Clermont Toyota service techs take a look at it so they can see if the lines need to be replaced or if corrosion has built up anywhere. Toyota of Clermont can help you care for this important car part If you have questions or think you need service for this essential part, call Toyota of Clermont at (352) 404-7001 or stop by and see us at 16851 State Road 50, just west of the Florida Turnpike.

The Worst Toyota Models Ever Made

There are many sayings and phrases out there about how mistakes need to be made to get to the finished product. Failures are always an indication of future success. After all, if you didn't fail, how would you learn what works and what doesn't? While we could dive into the existentialism of failure and learning, we're sure you'd rather learn about the blunders of our favorite auto manufacturer, Toyota. With a history going back as far as 1937 some mistakes are bound to be made along the way. In the spirit of improvement, we at Toyota of Clermont, are looking back at some of the worst Toyota models ever made. Check them out! Some of the Worst Toyota Models Ever Made 1958 Toyopet Crown The Toyopet Crown was the first Clermont Toyota model every sold in the U.S. and it was also one of the worst. This model was designed to commute on Japanese streets that typically had a speed limit of 40 mph and was never tested on North American roads. Not only was this vehicle ill-suited to reach commuting speeds, it was constructed with a heavy-gauge steel body that stressed the small 60-horsepower engine to its breaking point. 1991 Toyota Previa The successor to the highly criticized Toyota Van was also the victim of design flaws. The Clermont Toyota model Previa's issues began with its awkward exterior design that perturbed many drivers but that was just the beginning. The Previa carried about 2-tons of curb weight and was powered only by a 4-cylinder with a mid-engine layout. A supercharger was added to increase power but only drove the cost up and made the engine noisier than before. 1992 Toyota Paseo A slick two-door sport-coupe is always a great way to draw a younger demographic, but the Toyota model Paseo missed its mark. The year the Paseo hit the market it faced steep competition from other car manufacturers who were able to capitalize on a more liberal exterior design to lure in younger drivers. Many drivers of the Clermont Paseo complained of poor understeering which made it unpleasant to drive. 1993 Toyota T100 Thanks to the Toyota Hilux (shout out Marty McFly), Toyota commanded and capitalized on the Clermont compact-truck automotive segment. It was only natural that our favorite auto manufacturer fry bigger fish, but the Toyota model T100 was was destined to be a bad catch. The 1993 T100 used an 8-foot bed like many of the North American trucks of the time but failed to adopt the same size elsewhere. The V6 under the hood was also seen as a downgrade to many drivers who were used to large gas-guzzling engines in their trucks. 2012 Scion iQ First of all, RIP Scion, and second, does anyone remember Smart cars? Well, the Scion iQ was Toyota's response to the micro-car segment started by Mercedes Benz's parent company. While the iQ improved on areas where Smart failed, it never managed to sell the same numbers and was seen as more of a safety hazard than viable driving option due to the sheer amount of large vehicles on N American roads. But, it was SUPER easy to park!   While there are several others that make the list, we'll stop the self-deprecation for now to highlight our amazing Toyota models available at Toyota of Clermont right now! Come check them all out today at 16851 State Road 50 or shop our inventory online anytime.

Clermont summer car care.

Toyota of Clermont Car Care: Keeping Things Cool

Being a resident of Clermont you probably know that summer never truly ends. With record high temperatures heading our way as we ease into July, it's time to start thinking about how to cool down. While that can seem difficult to accomplish at times, keeping yourself and your ride cool during the summer is essential when it comes to car care. If you need help turning down the heat when things get hot, don't worry! Toyota of Clermont is here with some helpful tips to keep you and your ride cool during the summer. Car Care Tips to Keep Things Cool Tip 1) Park Strategically Keeping your ride cool starts with where you park your car. You never realize just how much time your car spends outside until you have to drive somewhere and the interior is hotter than a volcano's crater. To prevent yourself from getting a steam facial each time you have to drive, park in a shady or covered spot. This can help preserve your dashboard, exterior paint, and keep you cool during the hot Clermont summer months. Tip 2) Use a Steering Wheel Cover Car care typically involves using covers and different protective items for things in your ride. In this case, a steering wheel cover is absolutely essential. This can keep your hands from getting a nasty burn and your steering wheel from deteriorating. Tip 3) Fumigate the Hot Air From Inside Your Ride ASAP The hot air inside of your Clermont car can be a lot to deal with when you first open your driver's side door. To relieve the atmosphere in your interior, start opening windows as soon as you turn the keys and let the hot air out. It also helps to turn on the A/C to push hot air out of your ride. Tip 4) Repair A/C Issues ASAP Your air conditioning will be your Clermont car care best friend all summer long and will keep you cool. If you start to notice issues like a lack of fan operation, less than cool temperatures, or complete in-operation then you should have your A/C system checked as soon as possible. Driving in unbearable heat without any relief from your air conditioning is the worst. Our auto service experts at Toyota of Clermont can help you out! Tip 5) Use Sunshades Protecting your vehicle's dashboard can be accomplished by parking in the shade, but not every spot can provide you and your ride with shade. If you have to park in the sun, use a sunshade! This helpful accessory can block out a majority of UV rays that heat up your interior and keep your dashboard from cracking. Invest in a good set of sunshades before your next outing in the summer heat.
