Safe driving tips: What to do if your car gets stuck in a ditch

Part of safe driving is knowing how to handle drive time emergencie s calmly and efficiently, whether the cause of the emergency is you or another driver. Today we're talking about how to deal with getting your car stuck in a ditch. This roadside emergency is actually more common than you might think - whether a driver is forced off the road because of an accident or slides off the road in inclement weather, ending up in a ditch is always a possibility. Check out these Clermont Toyota tips for freeing your ride from this precarious position as quickly and calmly as possible. Toyota of Clermont's best safe driving tips for roadside emergencies Tip #1: Assess everyone in the car before you try moving it. If anyone is injured, you should call 911. Even if no one needs to be taken to the hospital, the paramedics can assess injuries on-site and no one needs immediate medical attention. Tip #2: Turn on your hazard lights, especially if it's dark out. This will alert other drivers and passersby to your whereabouts so they can avoid hitting you. Additionally, if your car is close to the road, call for help to remove it from the ditch. Don't waste time trying to do it yourself if the risk of another car hitting you is high. Tip #3: If the ditch is dry - there's no mud or water in it - then you can try lightening the weight of your vehicle to free it. This means emptying out the trunk and also having all passengers exit the car. You should then try to gently accelerate to free your Clermont Toyota, but don't slam on the gas (this can cause the wheels to simply spin and not gain any traction). Tip #4: On the other hand, if your car is sitting in mud or water, don't empty it out. The extra weight can actually work in your favor. However, just pushing the accelerator down won't get you out of the ditch because mud and water make conditions slippery. In this scenario, you'll need to put something under the tires to give you extra traction. We recommend keeping a small bag of kitty litter in the trunk or even using pieces of cardboard or your floormats to help your tires get a grip. You should place the traction device in front of the tires for a front-wheel-drive vehicle, and behind the tires in a rear-wheel-drive vehicle. Tip #5: If you've tried and failed to get yourself out of the ditch, it may be time to call the professionals. You should never try to pull or winch yourself out of a ditch if you don't know how the tools work - you can do serious and costly damage to your vehicle's bumpers and frame. Call a tow truck and then have your vehicle brought to Toyota of Clermont to have our auto service techs assess it for any damage. Have Toyota of Clermont make sure your car is fit for safe driving after an accident Need to make an appointment for us to take a look? The Toyota Mirai is Coming This December!

The world's first production hydrogen fuel-cell vehicle is set to arrive at dealerships with new style, new features, and huge amount of alternative fuel sourced swag. Toyota of Clermont is here with the latest and official details on the upcoming Mirai so you can get ready for its arrival in December! The Toyota Mirai Coming Soon It's been an interesting journey for the Mirai. The world's first hydrogen fuel-cell powered vehicle arrived to dealerships five years ago with mixed perception due to its design and the lack of proper fueling infrastructure. Toyota is aiming to change that with a reinvigorated design that speaks sporty luxury that will, in theory, drive enthusiasm and additional funding for hydrogen fueling stations in more places. Here are the key confirmed features you can expect to see on the Clermont Toyota Mirai: Basics The 2021 Toyota Mirai will be available in 2 trim grades, XLE and Limited. For the 2021 model year, the Mirai will adopt a whole new look featuring a rear-wheel drive platform, longer and wider stance, aerodynamic body design, and optional 20-inch wheels. A Qi-wireless charging tray will also be standard on each trim grade. The XLE grade Toyota Mirai will come equipped with dual-zone climate control, heated front seats, and manual rear seat sunshades. Limited grades will include a standard Bird's Eye View Camera along with Intelligent Park Assist and panoramic moonroof. Safety The Clermont Mirai will come equipped with Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+. Full-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control has been improved to maintain a vehicle's length of distance between the Mirai and the vehicle in front. This feature can automatically slow your vehicle to 0 mph and gradually accelerate in speed until your chosen mph is reached. Pre-Collision System has also been improved to detect preceding bicyclists during the day and pedestrians in low light. The system can also detect other vehicles and pedestrians when performing a left-hand turn and will provide visual and auditory warnings in certain conditions. Toyota 4Runner for sale in Clermont

New Toyota 4Runner Coming in 2023? Find Out Here!

Apart from being the fan-favorite Toyota model in the lineup and being one of the last North American models still assembled in Japan, the Toyota 4Runner is consistent. In fact we've often referred to this iconic off-roader as the king of consistency. For the better part of 11 years, the fifth model generation has been available at dealerships and commanding trails. While we at Toyota of Clermont are thoroughly enamored by the current model year, even we have to admit that change is long overdue for 4Runner. Whether it be now or later, a large-scale overhaul is due for the popular Toyota SUV and we've seen some rumors that seemingly confirm this. If you want to know more, read along with us at Toyota of Clermont! What Might Be in Store for a New Toyota 4Runner The Toyota 4Runner has been in its 5th generation since 2009 and many drivers are clamoring for a change to the body-on-frame SUV. While Toyota has not confirmed anything regarding a new generation 4Runner and what features it might have, many fans have been speculating a laundry list of changes they want to see happen. Engineering Toyota is rumored to be making large-scale changes to the engineering features in many Clermont models. Larger models like the Tundra and Toyota 4Runner have largely remained untouched but that could all change soon. After all, Toyota has vowed to offer some form of electrification in its vehicles in the near future. For the 4Runner, this could mean the introduction of a hybrid drivetrain. This could vastly improve the fuel efficiency of this meaty Clermont Toyota SUV and add a bit of extra speed to its wheel house. There's also an idea floating around that there could be several engine options available on the next generation Toyota 4Runner. Many fans favor the current 4.0-liter V6, but adding larger and smaller options could reduce the overall cost and prime the Clermont 4Runner for wider appeal. It's also possible that Toyota could integrate a turbocharger or other options in a new generation. Exterior As with all generational shifts there's a dramatic exterior design overhaul. We expect nothing less for the Clermont Toyota 4Runner. But, what would that look like? More than likely, Toyota will retain the high-profile and muscular design of the current 4Runner. However, the front grille is likely to change along with the rear-end, and sides. Due to the popularity of enhanced special editions for this generation, the next generation 4Runner might include accessories like roof baskets, tow kits, and other off-roading gear standard. Interior Again, new generations mean large-scale changes to just about everything. The interior of the current generation Toyota 4Runner has received its fair share of complaints. For a new generation of this Clermont Toyota SUV you can likely expect to see new infotainment options, a wider array of upholstery materials to choose from, better stylistic elements, and better space distribution. One thing's for sure, the power rear-window needs to stay! Shop for a Toyota 4Runner with Toyota of Clermont Today While it'll be some time before the next generation Toyota 4Runner heads our way, you can still experience the Toyota 4Runner today at Toyota of Clermont! Shop our inventory online anytime and visit the dealership at 16851 State Road 50 for a test drive.

Car care tips for after off-roading

Do you like to take things into the great unknown when it comes to drive time adventures? Off-roading is a great way to get off the pavement and find the unexpected, but it also calls for a bit of extra car care when you return to civilization. Toyota of Clermont is here with tips straight from our auto service experts on how to best care for your car after off-roading adventures - save yourself the time and money and read through the list! 4 car care tips for off-roading vehicles Tip #1: Don't delay. The longer you wait to wash your car, the longer it's going to take to wash it. Leaving mud, dirt, and dust sitting on a vehicle only makes them that much harder to remove, so don't wait too long to start your car care. Tip #2: Put your pressure washer to use. Before you get to scrubbing, it's a wise idea to put your pressure washer (or at least the hose on the high setting) to use. This will help to remove caked-on dirt and mud and make your car care process easier, but it'll also help to get any leftover sand or dirt particles off the paint. If you skip this step, you risk scratching your paint and leaving swirls in it because sand can get trapped under the sponge as you scrub. Tip #3: Pick your products wisely. Are you using soap formulated for your Clermont Toyota to get the job done after off-roading? Remember, dish soap can actually harm your paint. You should choose a soap that's made for cars to give your vehicle the best wash. Our parts store at Toyota of Clermont can help you find exactly what you need. And don't forget to wax your car with a quality wax - this will help repel moisture and dirt next time you take things off the pavement, and will also make your car easier to clean next time you have to do some car care. Tip #4: Don't forget the undercarriage. It's easy to forget that the underside of your car takes a beating when you go off-roading. Make sure that you wash the undercarriage well. Quick hack for you - buy a cheap rotating sprinkler, attach it to the hose, and stick it under the car. This will help to rinse off mud and dirt with little effort on your part, leaving the rest of the cleanup a lot easier. And don't forget to clean out the brake components and suspension components. If mud and dirt work their way into these parts and aren't cleaned out, it can actually impair your car's functionality and cost you money in repairs down the road. Toyota of Clermont can get you the car care tips and supplies you need Have questions, need car care supplies, or just want some more expert advice when it comes to caring for your Clermont Toyota? Call us! Toyota of Clermont is open seven days a week at (352) 404-7001. We're conveniently located just west of the Florida Turnpike at 16851 State Road 50.

The Clermont Toyota FJ Cruiser is truly a unique blend of Toyota's history and ambition. This concept-looking SUV today enjoys a cult following and a desirability that has helped it to avoid depreciation for over half a decade. With price tags that can reach up into the $40,000 range, the FJ Cruiser is an oddity in the automotive world. Before we dive into a few of the unique and key features of the FJ, here are a few historical points concerning this special SUV: The Clermont Toyota FJ Cruiser was designed with inspiration from the Toyota FJ40 in mind. This included extensive off-roading features and additional room in the cabin. The concept for the FJ was debuted in 2003 and the production model retained a large number of the initial features that were showcased (including the iconic voodoo blue paint color). 2014 was the final year for the FJ in North America but has since become one of the most valuable used cars you can purchase. Sales of the Cruiser weren't discontinued in Japan until 2018. The FJ Cruiser Speaks for Itself As far as used cars are concerned, their value is determined by age, wear and tear, mileage, and so on. But, for the FJ many factors don't make a dent on the price people will pay. The original MSRP of a 2014 Clermont Toyota FJ Cruiser clocked in at $27,000 - $29,000 but some used car models sell for north of $30,000 - $40,000. Here are a few features that are available on the FJ Cruiser that make it truly unique: The FJ Cruiser sports unique interior designs with paint color matching panels and even a dedicated side-sun visor in the front seats. The exterior roof is painted white on some models of the FJ (a feature offered on select modern Toyota models) for a slick look and to prevent heat from building up in the cabin. Clam-shell or "suicide doors" are unique to the FJ and there's no structural pillar separating the front and rear perimeter segments from each other. While this feature is specific to the FJ, it does make for a difficult time getting into the back seats. A no-frills stereo system graces the front of the cabin along with a unique shift handle. The used car FJ Cruiser sports a 4.0-liter V6 engine similar to what's under the hood of the modern Toyota 4Runner.
