Do you know how to properly inspect a used car before you buy it? Buying a used car is a little more nerve-wracking than purchasing new. After all, a used vehicle has a history, may have been in an accident, and may have had more than one owner (and a less-than-stellar maintenance record). However, if you know how to thoroughly inspect a used vehicle before you buy, you can save yourself a lot of time, stress, and money. Toyota of Clermont is here with tips to help you inspect a used vehicle like a pro. <span data-mce-type="bookmark" class="mce_SELRES_start"></span> Learn how to inspect a used car Exterior: The exterior is the first part of the car you'll encounter; make sure to do your inspection in daylight on a flat surface. Here are the main things to check on the used car in question. Tires: Are the tires in good condition? Check for bubbles, blisters, physical damage, and the tread depth to ensure you won't have to replace them anytime soon. Also, ensure the wear on the tires is even - this means they've been rotated and the car hasn't been driven too hard. While you're checking the tires, take a peek under the car to look for any evidence of leaks. Body: The body of the car should be free from mismatched paint, gaps between panels, and rust - all of which can indicate a previous accident and future repairs. Lights: Do all of the lights work? Make sure the lenses aren't foggy or broken. Glass: All of the glass in the vehicle should be free from chips and cracks. If you see any, negotiate it that the seller's insurance has to fix it before you buy the car. Suspension: Give each corner of the car a good bounce - it should only bounce once and then go still again. If it bounces numerous times, the suspension isn't in great shape. Interior: Next, check out the interior. Here are the main points you'll want to hit - and always be sure to check for water damage. Buttons and switches: Do all of the buttons and switches in the car work? Be sure to test out the radio and all components of the audio system, as well as the air-conditioning. Don't forget to check the power seats, too, and any other knobs, buttons, levers, or switches. Smells: How does the interior smell? Look out for air fresheners, which could be masking an odor. Be sure to keep your nose tuned for mold and mildew, especially in the trunk of the car and along the floorboards. Smells can be hard to get rid of, so buyer beware. Upholstery and carpet: Check the upholstery on the seats and the carpet/mats to ensure they don't have any large stains, rips, or other physical damage. It may be aesthetic, but you can see if the seller will negotiate. Headliner: Make sure the roof headliner is in good shape and is still attached to the roof, not sagging. Under the hood: Not confident about your mechanical knowledge? Turn the car on and use your senses. If anything smells, sounds, or looks odd, question it. It's a concept (for now), but rumor has it that the new 2019 Toyota RAV4, which is to be revealed next week at the New York Auto Show, pulls some of its influence from this innovative ride. Meet the all-new Toyota FT-AC Whether you're taking on city streets, tough terrain or anything in between, this Clermont Toyota concept has got everything you need to do it in style. Let's talk about design first - here are some of the highlights: It has a longer wheelbase and a wider track to ensure a muscular and aggressive stance. The front grill is large, black, and accented with LED headlights and fog lights. The body features extra-wide fender flares, and you're ready for adventure with 20" wheels on all-terrain tires. It comes in an eye-catching Prospect Green paint scheme with Fortress Gray accents to offset the bright hue. Now let's talk about features - this new Toyota concept really thinks outside of the box. Here are a few of the things we love most about it: The aforementioned fog lights are removable. You can actually unhook them from the car and use them to light the way if you're heading into the dark on foot or on bike. There's a WiFi hotspot in the car so you can upload your GoPro footage before you even make it back to civilization. There are infrared cameras on the side mirrors to document your off-road adventures, and just like the fog lights, these are removable so you can carry them or mount them on your bike. There's an integrated bike rack in the back of the FT-AC, but if you're heading off on an adventure on foot, the rack retracts to stay out of sight. This Clermont Toyota concept also has geo-locator capabilities so getting off the beaten path is no big deal. This Toyota concept offers ultimate adventure What about performance? We don't know a ton about the specs of this new Toyota concept, but here are some of the performance features it's showcasing: There are twin hooks mounted on the front of the vehicle to tow (or be pulled out) if necessary. Skid plates protect the underside of the car so you can tackle any terrain without fear of damage. There's a safari-style roof rack system for your gear, and it has LED marker lights mounted on the front and rear of it to provide light around your vehicle when necessary. It's gasoline-powered and has all-wheel drive capabilities, as well as variable terrain response settings and four-wheel lock functionality. Pretty impressive, right?
