Four of the weirdest Toyota models ever released #1: Tundrasine: The Toyota Tundrasine was a seriously misguided concept vehicle that was unveiled at SEMA back in 2015. The Clermont Toyota Tundra is a cool truck, limousines are cool vehicles... but in no realm should they ever be joined as one. This weird Toyota model was based on a 1794 Edition Toyota Tundra and featured 8 doors that led to a luxurious brown leather interior that was inspired by Lear jets. It was 26 feet long, looked like a limo, yet still had a bed in the back to haul cargo... firm pass. #2: Sera: The first thing - or person - that springs to mind when we see the Toyota Sera coupe is Marty McFly. This three-door hatchback screams Back to the Future and not because of its 80's-looking design elements. The doors open upward instead of outward, similar to the Delorean. On top of that futuristic vibe, this Toyota model offered both automatic and manual transmissions, a 1.5L inline-4 engine, and surprisingly, a spacious trunk under the cargo hatch. It was sold exclusively in Japan from 1990-1995, so unless you have a Doc-Brown-esque time machine, chances of getting your hands on one are slim. #3: Mega Cruiser: Remember the Hummer and how "cool" it was (we put those quotation marks there for a reason)? The Toyota Mega Cruiser was Toyota's response to the Hummer and was actually available for purchase in Japan from 1996 to 2002. It was mostly used by the military in Japan for transport, with a few police battalions and other first responders putting it into action as well. It featured a 4-1L turbo diesel inline-4 engine and a four-door design, as well as an automatic transmission with a two-speed transfer case to send power to all four wheels. As you can probably imagine, it served its military purpose well, but wasn't a popular choice for school pickups. #4: Previa: The Toyota Previa was an interesting-looking Toyota minivan sold all over the world. It was produced in the US from 1990-1997 and despite its egglike shape, was a popular option for families. One of this Toyota model's weirdest features was its mid-engine design - in order to access important engine components, mechanics would actually have to disassemble the interior of the van, going so far as to remove seats. It can be dangerous, too, so it's helpful to know how to react if you do find yourself slipping and sliding next time the weather is wet. Hydroplaning is when your car loses control and spins or skids because it no longer has traction on the road. Basically, when you drive through water or on wet roads at high speeds, water pushes your front tires up off the road a little bit. This causes a thin film of water to form between the road and your car's tires, which means the tires are no longer gripping the road and have no traction. This is when you hydroplane and spin or skid out, and it can have serious and dangerous consequences. So what should you do if you find yourself slipping and sliding? Here are some easy tips to remember: Your natural reaction will be to hit the brakes, hard - but don't give into it. This will just cause you to slide more. Instead, remove your foot from the brakes to slow your vehicle and use your horn to alert other drivers of your situation and where you are. Next, if you have an anti-lock brake system, push the brakes gently and slowly. If you don't have anti-lock brakes, pump the brakes gently to prevent them from locking up. Turn your steering wheel in the direction of the slide. It sounds odd, but turning the opposite direction can actually cause overcorrection and leave you spinning even worse than before. If your back wheels are sliding left, turn left, too. Use small adjustments; avoid jerking your car's wheel. Combine that with Toyota's promise to electrify every vehicle on its lineup by 2025 and you get quite a few interesting theories on what might happen next. One popular theory is that the Toyota MR2 is due for a return and we can definitely see it. This model was an 80s mid-engine icon that many drivers have fond memories of. The body style was unique along with its engine layout being one of Toyota's only vehicles with a mid-engine design. The storm is right for a return of this iconic Toyota sportscar, but will it return as an electric car? Here are some of the speculative points surrounding this Clermont Toyota electric car theory: The Toyota MR2, if revived, would likely return as a light and agile sportscar. It's difficult to tell whether or not the rehashed model will be designed with a mid placed engine or if it will be redesigned entirely. It's likely that the MR2 would be electrified in some form or another. Toyota has pledged to electrify its entire lineup by 2025. This doesn't mean that the MR2 will be an entirely electric car. It could return as a hybrid as opposed to something that's fully electric powered. Akio Toyoda himself has expressed the desire for a triumvirate of sportscar on the lineup and two slots of three have already been filled. With the Supra and the 86 already in production, it would make sense for the MR2 to re-emerge. Like the Supra and 86, it's likely that the MR2 could be co-developed with another auto manufacturer. As to who, your guess is as good as ours. The starting MSRP of the alleged Clermont electric car Toyota MR2 will likely be $40,000-$45,000 and be released sometime around 2024. Just this past weekend, Toyota has revealed that several new takes on the beloved Camry, Corolla, and Avalon are coming and we're excited to say the least. New Toyota Models are Coming Soon! 2021 Toyota Camry The Toyota Camry is entering its 37th production year and it's never looked better. This iconic Clermont Toyota sedan is a sight for sore eyes and the 2021 model is upping the wow factor in several big ways. Here are some of the newly added features you should look out for with this new Toyota model: The Camry Hybrid will now include the XSE trim level for the first time. The TRD trim level will also include an all-wheel drive option. The "L" trim level will no longer be available. The Camry is receiving some exterior adjustments for the 2021 model year like new and larger alloy wheel options, new colors like Blueprint and Ice Edge with two-tone Midnight Black Metallic roof (exclusive to the TRD trim new Toyota model), and newly designed front fascias. Toyota will also be debuting Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+ which will include Rear Seat Reminder and Automatic Emergency Braking to name a few newly added features. 2021 Toyota Corolla Apex Edition Everyone loves a special edition and who knows that better than Toyota? Coming soon is the new Toyota model Clermont Corolla Apex Edition! This new take on a Toyota Corolla features a variety of upgrades like: New Clermont Toyota factory exterior upgrades like a custom body package with black and bronze accents. You'll notice changes in the front bumper fog light coverings, side moldings, and rear diffuser. New coil springs have been added to lower the stance of the new Toyota model Corolla by 0.6 inches. The Apex Edition will be limited to 6,000 models spread over the SE and XSE trim grades. 120 specific models will include a 6-speed intelligent manual transmission as opposed to an automatic. 2021 Toyota Avalon The luxurious Toyota sedan will also be receiving several key upgrades for the 2021 model year including: The Clermont Toyota Avalon will be receiving the Nightshade Edition treatment for the XSE trim grade. All-wheel drive will be an available option on the XLE and Limited grades. Android Auto has been added to the infotainment package. The new Toyota model hybrid will now include a new lithium-ion battery pack. The interior will also be updated with USB-C charging ports. New Toyota News Coming Your Way 2021 Clermont Toyota Corolla Cross Coming Toyota was set to reveal the Toyota Yaris during the Geneva Motor Show but was opted for a virtual reveal due to the COVID0-19 pandemic. In a similar fashion, our favorite auto manufacturer revealed the upcoming Corolla Cross. This Clermont new Toyota model will be released in Thailand and not North America. However there's still speculation that this model will make its way to our dealership. Toyota still intends to add a new SUV to lineup in N America soon and this could very well be it. New Special Edition Toyota Supra The Toyota Supra has been back in production for a short time now and we've seen several special editions including the Launch Edition. This year we have a 4-cylinder Clermont Toyota variant along with the base model receiving a small boost in horsepower. But, what if we told you a future Supra could be packing over 500 ponies under the hood? According to a Japanese car website, a GRMN model Clermont new Toyota Supra could be coming soon and might pack the BMW M3/M4 engine under the hood that reps over 510 horsepower. This could also mean that the modern Supra could fall out of production by 2025. Good Luck Finding a Toyota RAV4 Prime The new Toyota Clermont RAV4 Prime is coming soon to our dealership and we're excited to welcome this new model. That is if we get any inventory. A report from publisher Electrek claims that the Toyota only plans to release 5,000 units of the RAV4 Prime in North America. Allegedly, Toyota claims this is due to a shortage of supplies needed to construct the lithium-ion battery. Some good news, the Toyota RAV4 Prime has better than expected EPA numbers. The original MPGe estimate clocked in at 90 and the EPA reports 94. The all electric range was initially reported at 39 and clocks in with the EPA 42 miles. Diesel Engines on the Tacoma or Tundra? There are several rumors surrounding the arrival of a new Toyota Tundra and the possibility of it including a hybrid drivetrain. Those speculations aside, there's reason to believe that Toyota might try to bring a high compression engine to its truck siblings. A patent from Toyota, originally filed in 2019, was made public this month and reveals plans to produce an engine that exerts more force behind piston motion and yields better compression. This could create better power and emit less fumes. The patent doesn't state whether the engine will use gasoline or diesel and has us wondering if this engine will ever see the light of day and which Clermont new Toyota model we'll see it in.
