It’s Time to Say Goodbye to a Legend The Toyota Land Cruiser is one of North America’s longest running nameplates and one of the most original Toyota models on the Clermont lineup. There have been many rumors concerning the next steps for the legendary off-roader. We recently reported rumors that the Toyota Land Cruiser would be ditching the frills and luxury options for something more off-roading centric. While this idea had many fans (and us) thrilled as it likely meant the Land Cruiser would be approaching a more agreeable price point, it seems those hopes and dreams have been quashed. A report from Motor Authority details that an anonymous dealership employee disclosed that the Toyota Land Cruiser would not be renewed for another model year and will not be retuning to Toyota of Clermont in the foreseeable future. This news comes as Toyota unveiled a few new features for the 2021 Land Cruiser and continued the Heritage Edition from the previous model year. But like with all rumors, you should take this news with a grain of salt. The Land Cruiser is one of Toyota’s longest running Clermont nameplates and there are several creative directions they can take with it. This model does still enjoy a substantial following among many off-roading circles. A main downfall of this model is the lack of good sales figures which many attribute to its very high price point. Toyota has not confirmed this report and have not confirmed any forward motion for the Cruiser as of this writing. So, in summation, who knows? Next Stages for the Toyota Land Cruiser While the report claims that the Clermont Land Cruiser will be ending its run in North America, that doesn’t mean it will be finished in other markets. More than likely the Land Cruiser will be upgraded to the 300-Series model in coming years. But what does that mean for the North American lineup? With the departure of the Toyota Land Cruiser, the Sequoia will reign as the largest vehicle on the lineup. An interesting point in the story is that the Lexus equivalent of the Land Cruiser, the Clermont LX, will still be produced in North America. We're well into October of 2020 which means daylight savings time is about to end. Are you ready to fall back an hour just as November arrives? The time change can mean a lot more driving in the dark for some, as night usually starts to fall right around rush hour. Toyota of Clermont is here with tips from our auto service experts on how to prepare your car AND yourself for daylight savings time to end so you can hit the road safely no matter the time. Check it out. Toyota of Clermont's tips for dealing with daylight savings 1. Have your lighting - all of it - checked. Before daylight savings time ends, take the time to have your lighting systems both inside and out checked. Your headlights, taillights, turn signals, and hazard lights should all be in working (and excellent) condition so you have top visibility and also so other drivers on the road can clearly see your vehicle. You should also ensure that all interior lights and dash lights are in working order before you try driving at night. Remember, your headlights should be on from dusk until dawn. 2. Bring your car in for brake service and a tire inspection. You want your brakes and tires to be in excellent condition when you're driving at night, as you very well may be after daylight savings time ends. However, there's a way around that uneasy feeling... learning the ins and outs of what's going on every time you start your car. Today, Toyota of Clermont is here to explain the basic types of car brakes. Brake service and repairs are critical to performance, and we want to ensure you feel confident when you schedule yours. The main types of car brakes Disc brakes: Disc brakes are the most common types of car brakes on modern vehicles. In this system, you'll find hydraulic fluid, calipers, brake pads, and rotors. When you press the brake pedal, hydraulic fluid is sent through the system to make the calipers come together; this action then pushes the brake pads against the rotors to slow your car's wheels and bring you to a stop. These brakes are more popular and more widely used because they have better performance capabilities than drum brakes. They dissipate heat better (which means they won't overheat and lose stopping power) and they also fare better in wet weather - they dry more quickly to ensure they work no matter the conditions you're driving in. Drum brakes: Drum brakes used to be the more common of the two, but they definitely have their disadvantages (even though they're cheaper to replace than disc brakes). These car brakes basically have a brake drum and inside of that drum, brake shoes. When you press the brake pedal, the shoes are pushed down against the drum to slow your car's wheels. The problem? There are actually two main ones. First, drum brakes can overheat if used too much and too often, leaving you without a way to stop. They also tend to collect water inside the drum when you drive in wet weather. This can lead to both braking issues and also corrosion and rust in the braking system. Parking brake: Your parking brake - also known as your emergency brake - is a brake that's hooked up to the main braking system via a cable (it's usually attached to the rear brakes). This brake is typically used to keep your car in place once it's parked, like if you park on a hill. However, it can also be a last resort should your main braking system give out and you need a way to stop your vehicle in an emergency situation. And while they may not be a type of car brake, per se, we can't not mention anti-lock brakes. Anti-lock brakes technically aren't a type of car brake, but they are a type of brake technology woven into the braking system. The anti-lock brakes sense the rotational speed of each individual wheel and can control it accordingly. If you have to come to a sudden stop, your wheels may lock up. This can cause you to skid (especially if you're driving in rain, snow, or ice). If your anti-lock brakes sense this scenario, they'll send pulses of braking power to the wheel that's locked up to help it slow down and regain traction with the road. Toyota Highlander Having recently undergone a bottom to top redesign, the Toyota Highlander isn't quite in store for major changes yet. The 2021 model year will bring with it a new sporty XSE trim that includes a new front bumper design, changes to safety technology, and improvements to the headlights. Highways are always changing, small town roads are being repaved, or workers are on the medians and shoulders performing maintenance. We're not used to seeing people outside of their vehicles on busy roads but we have a duty to drive carefully and share the road with workers maintaining the routes we use. Driving through construction zones requires you to pay extra attention to your surroundings and always be aware of what's going on around you. We at Toyota of Clermont have compiled a few tips to help you navigate through these areas with ease and safely. Navigate Through Construction Zones Safely with these Tips Tip 1) Slow Down Clermont construction zones are rife with unfamiliar terrain and workers are often moving throughout the area. There are always posted speed limit adjustment signs and you should adhere to the closely. Traveling more slowly through these areas gives you ample time to react in the event someone enters the roadway or the terrain changes suddenly. Tip 2) Obey Flaggers Depending on how high traffic the construction zone is there will be flaggers there to direct traffic. Always slow down and pay attention to their directions. Tip 3) Watch Out for and Pay Attention to Signs Construction zones are filled with different signs to direct Clermont Toyota drivers and warn of hazards and speed limit changes. It's essential you pay attention to every sign you come across to ensure safe travel through the zone. Tip 4) Drive Defensively You should always practice defensive driving when out on the road. Then use 7 seconds to complete the lane switch. Tip 7) Obey All Rules and Signs Until You're Clear of the Construction Zone When driving through these areas, make sure to follow all rules until you've cleared the zone. This will keep everyone and yourself safe. You can resume normal driving and speed limits when you've cleared the construction zone. Tip 8) Be Patient and Prepare for Delays Much like one domino knocks a whole row down, one slowing vehicle causes a traffic jam and construction zones are notorious for creating traffic jams. Make sure to slow down and expect this to happen before traveling. You'll be less frustrated! Toyota GR Yaris Cross The Gazoo Racing segment of Toyota is best known for its many high-performance Toyota variants that take everything we love about the Clermont Toyota lineup and kick it up a notch. While we have variants of the Supra and 86 in North America, we're expecting the Hot Hatch anytime now, Japan will be getting a GR Yaris Cross soon. This small crossover, designed for city commuting, will be offered with new sporty features like: 18-inch black alloy wheels Sport dual tipped exhaust system Mud flaps Exterior accent pieces And more! Toyota-Backed Flying Car Takes Test Flight It's a well-known fact that Toyota has achieved a large footing in the technology world by investing heavily in futuristic business ventures over the years. A Clermont new Toyota venture includes an investment in SkyDrive which recently took their first public test flight of their aerial car. This vehicle is named the SD-03 and is recognized as the world's smallest electric powered VTOL (vertical take-off and landing) vehicle. The model features 8 rotors that operate simultaneously in the event of failure. SkyDrive hopes to bring a new two-person to market by 2023. The Japanese Lunar Rover Has a Name and its Very Toyota Do you remember the Toyota lunar vehicle we told you about quite a while ago? Well, if not, here's a refresher. Toyota and the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) have been working on fuel-cell based technology lunar vehicle for space exploration. While the team doesn't expect to start engineering this Clermont lunar vehicle until 2024, they have named it! The Lunar Cruiser. This vehicle is expected to have a public reveal by 2029 with a manned expedition by 2030. How Does the New Toyota Venza Roof Work? If you haven't heard the news yet, the 2021 Toyota Venza is coming soon to Toyota of Clermont and there's a lot to unpack and get excited about! This new Toyota SUV will be a standard hybrid and will be one of the more luxurious Toyota models on the lineup. It will also include standard AWD and more. One of the more bougie and downright amazing features available on this model is the Star Gaze Roof. This option is available on the Clermont new Toyota Venza for an additional $1,400 and will appear to most as a panoramic sunroof. While that's cool and all, it's what else it can do that sets this roof glass apart. The Star Gaze roof can be set to either clear or frosted glass depending on preference. Here are a few things you might see on the next rendition of Toyota's beloved full-sized pickup truck: Toyota will likely design the Tundra on it's new truck chassis, Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA-F). High-strength steel will provide a stronger and lighter body-on-frame build for the Toyota truck. With a new chassis it's likely that the Clermont Toyota Tundra will adopt coil suspension springs in place of its current leaf springs on the rear axle. Improvements to both the chassis and suspension system means that the Tundra will likely improve on its current towing capacity and payload. This one's a big one! The Tundra might be getting an all-new engine layout. The Lexus LS 500, while a sports sedan, currently uses a twin-turbocharged V6. In Toyota's ongoing quest for electrifying its entire lineup by 2025, the Tundra could receive this engine along with hybrid drivetrain options. There's also talks of a smaller 3.5-liter V6 (the same engine as the Tacoma) being offered for the Tundra. The twin-turbo V6 can output 416 horsepower when mated with the LS 500. As with any major vehicle model overhaul, you can expect a number of aesthetic changes to be made to the Clermont Toyota Tundra. The exterior will likely receive a refreshing redesign that's edgier and futuristic. For the interior, the 2020 Highlander's 12-inch infotainment head unit will likely be offered along with more cabin space. Plus, expect to see Toyota Safety Sense equipped on the Tundra and include safety features like Advanced Radar Cruise Control, Automatic Braking, Lane Centering, and more.
