2019 Toyota Prius Prime

A Surprising Win for the Toyota Prius

Coming from a simpler time, 1997 to be exact, the Toyota Prius redefined what it meant to be fuel efficient and created a new vehicle category of Clermont Toyota vehicle, the hybrid. The Prius, when translated to Latin means “first,” “original,” “superior,” or “to go before,” is hailed as the first mass produced hybrid vehicle on the market at the time. It reached one million vehicles sold in 2008, the two million mark in 2010, and then the 3 million mark in 2013. Needless to say, the Toyota Prius has a lot to offer. From fuel efficient engineering to wicked good looks, we’re not surprised at the popularity of this Clermont Toyota hybrid vehicle. But, one thing that does have us surprised is the Prius’ recent win in MotorTrend’s figure-eight track test. If you don’t know exactly what this is, come along with us and check out this unexpected victory! The Toyota Prius Did What? MotorTrend is one of the leading authorities when it comes to cars. They heavily research and review vehicles on the road to bring the most up-to-date information on current vehicles and all thinks automotive. As part of their vehicle review process, MotorTrend puts their chosen Clermont Toyota vehicles through road tests to determine their overall capability and handling. One test they use for vehicles is the figure eight track test. Why a figure eight? Because this track requires little space and allows reviewers to get a good idea of the handling of the chosen vehicle when it comes to turns, acceleration, and braking. Usually, with tests like these you see vehicles designed with lower stances and more performance-based engineering taking the best times and performing the best. Vehicles like the Clermont Toyota Tundra or Highlander typically don’t perform well during these tests due to the fact that they’re raised higher and have a different center of gravity than a sedan or coupe. Usually a hybrid vehicle like the Toyota Prius doesn’t perform well at this test due to their lack of overall power under the hood and low-rolling resistance tire. But that all changed after this test. The Clermont Toyota Prius sported the best times for this test and beat out vehicles from auto manufacturers like Jaguar, Mercedes, Cadillac, Fiat, BMW, and Mazda. There was a total of fifteen vehicles in this test and the Prius beat every one. How did it manage this? While the Clermont Toyota Prius wasn’t designed to be a drag or track racing car, it managed better times than vehicles designed for that on MotorTrend’s track. It managed an average track time of 26.3 seconds at an average of 0.64 g. Check out the Toyota Prius at Toyota of Clermont Today! Apart from MotorTrend’s surprising track test results, the Toyota Prius is an engineering marvel that blends fuel efficiency with unique style and has a surprisingly sporty side. You can test and drive this unique Toyota hybrid home today at Toyota of Clermont! We’re open seven days and you can visit us seven days a week at 16851 State Road 50.

Toyota hybrid pickup truck at Toyota of Clermont.

What's your take on hybrid trucks?

Hybrid trucks - yes or no? Lots of people have opinions about it. For some Clermont Toyota drivers, it's a definite no - they're so used to driving gasoline-powered trucks that offer a ton of horsepower and torque, as well as superior towing and off-roading capabilities. But for others, it's a yes. They want to see Toyota continue to make the world greener, and hybrid trucks are a great way to cut down on the use of natural resources as well as reduce emissions that form smog and pollution in the air. Either way, hybrid Toyota trucks are coming.. and we can't wait to see them arrive at Toyota of Clermont. Toyota A-BAT Concept Would you drive a hybrid truck? Toyota is renowned on a global basis for its hybrid technology. After all, it's the company that started the hybrid movement way back in 1997 with the introduction of the Clermont Toyota Prius. This much-loved green car was groundbreaking in its ability to reduce the use of gasoline AND cut back on harmful emissions, and hybrid technology has only grown in popularity since then. In fact, we've got tons of these green cars on our lot right now. Here are the options you'll have when you shop Toyota of Clermont: Toyota Prius Toyota Camry Hybrid Toyota RAV4 Hybrid Toyota Prius c Toyota Avalon Hybrid Toyota Highlander Hybrid And even a brand-new 2020 Toyota Corolla Hybrid. Plus, Toyota is only planning to expand the lineup in the future, introducing green options for nearly every model. And that's where hybrid trucks come in. Toyota is planning on introducing them at some point, although no definite plans have been announced. But here's the sticky part and probably the reason why no formal announcements have come to light. Hybrid cars are celebrated for their fuel efficiency and their green, clean performance. What they're NOT known for are powerful performance, towing, and off-roading... three qualities that are pretty much expected when it comes to trucks. That's where the research and testing comes in. However, we've already seen Toyota making leaps and bounds in this arena. For example, the latest model of the Prius will offer electric all-wheel drive, giving it better traction and handling. And the newest Toyota RAV4 Hybrid actually offers a hybrid engine that gets more horsepower than its gasoline counterpart (219 hp vs 209 hp). Obviously, advancements are happening to meet both sets of needs and further develop the possibility of a powerful, off-road-ready hybrid truck. For now, it looks like green versions of the Toyota Tacoma and Toyota Tundra will be available in the future, giving you even more options when it comes to doing your part for the planet. Toyota did introduce a concept truck back in 2008 - the A-BAT - but it was merely that... a concept. Nothing ever came out of it despite its ingenuity, its hybrid engine, and its cool extendable bed. Will we ever see hybrid Toyota Tacomas and Tundras on the road?

Every day we see new advancements in the automotive industry. From new infotainment systems, new navigation, safety features, and cleaner technology. Now, we have hybrid model options for nearly all types of Clermont Toyota vehicle. What started as the Toyota Prius in 1997 has since evolved into the Toyota Camry, RAV4, Highlander, and Corolla all having hybrid models. But, what about a hybrid pickup truck? Luckily, Toyota may be manufacturing hybrid versions of the Clermont Toyota Tacoma and Tundra and they may arrive to the dealership sooner than you think! Check out the details on these upcoming hybrid pickup trucks right here. The road so far A hybrid pickup truck seems like a far-off pipe dream to most. How would you be able to use a partial electric engine to obtain the power large internal combustion engines are able to with the bodies of trucks? To see how Toyota plans to get there, we have to take a trip down memory lane to 1997 with the release of the iconic Clermont Toyota Prius. This hybrid sedan changed the face of fuel-efficiency forever and its technology has been incorporated into several other Toyota models. But, while we have hybrid SUVs and sedans, we haven’t seen a hybrid pickup truck come to fruition yet. The idea of incorporating an electric motor into a truck so dependent on diesel and gasoline, like a pickup truck, but you may be surprised to learn the power and capability a Clermont hybrid Toyota can pack. For an example on power, the 2019 Toyota RAV4 can flex 203 horsepower with its stock internal combustion engine while the hybrid version can produce 219 horsepower. Not only that, but hybrid vehicles are also being engineered with more capable features than ever before. While it’s possible for a hybrid pickup truck to achieve the necessary power and performance, it may be sometime before we see a vehicle like this at Toyota of Clermont. Currently, plans for a hybrid pickup truck are being kept under wraps. We’re not entirely sure when we’ll see a vehicle like this at the dealership, but that doesn’t mean that it won’t happen. Toyota has already tried their hand at a hybrid pickup truck, but it never came to fruition as an actual production car. In 2007, Toyota released their A-BAT concept, a subcompact truck that used Toyota’s Hybrid Synergy Drive system with a four-cylinder engine. While small and as high performance as a Clermont Toyota Tundra, this vehicle was designed to seat four passengers and have extra exterior cargo space. This concept was the first Toyota vehicle to use an extendable mid-gate. Find your next green ride at Toyota of Clermont A hybrid pickup truck will be at the dealership before we know it. But, in the meantime, you can still shop for a new fuel-efficient ride at Toyota of Clermont today! Check out our inventory online or visit us at 16851 State Road 50.

New Toyota Supra available at Toyota of Clermont.

Another Toyota sportscar is on the way! Which one will be next?

Nothings is better than a classic, but a reimagining of a beloved classic like the Clermont Toyota Supra? Even better! This year, the Toyota Supra is returning with a new design inside and out and some amazing performance features that are sure to give you an electrifying feeling when you hit the gas pedal. Before the new Supra came along, it had been about sixteen years since Toyota’s last venture with a sportscar. Because of this vehicle’s success Toyota is looking into rolling another past relic reimagining off its production line. As hardcore Toyota fans like us, you’re probably wondering which Clermont Toyota sportscar will be coming next. Our best guesses are either the iconic Toyota Celica or the MR2. While we don’t have exact details, we do have the histories of these two vehicles. Decide for yourself which one will be coming next! The Toyota Celica The Toyota Celica is aptly named after the Latin word coelica, meaning heavenly or celestial. It’s one of the most iconic Toyota sportscars and has a long history with many design and engineering changes along the way. This Clermont Toyota vehicle was also the stepping stone for several vehicles, including the modern Toyota Camry and Supra! First introduced in 1970, the Toyota Celica made its debut at the Tokyo Motor Show as Toyota’s response to the Ford Mustang in North America. This Clermont Toyota sportscar used a 1.4 or 1.6 L 4-cylinder engine equipped with either 4 or 5-speed manual transmission. Produced in 1978, the Clermont Toyota Celica XX was the first rendition of the Toyota Supra, which eventually became its own vehicle model in 1986. It was available as either a two-door coupe or three-door liftback, but was available as a four-door model in 1980 with the introduction of the Celica Camry. Available only as a rear-wheel drive until 1985, the Celica was reengineered with a new four-cylinder engine, new underpinning, and front-wheel drivetrain. The fifth generation (1989 – 1993) of the Celica was designed with a more rounded body and even had a limited run convertible submodel. The Toyota MR2 Mid-ship, run-about, 2-seater or mid-engine, rear-wheel-drive, 2-seater. Whichever the technical name may be, the Clermont Toyota sportscar MR2 was engineered as Toyota’s first mid-engine vehicle. A mid-engine vehicle uses a different engineering design that contains the engine between the two axles of the car rather than in the front. It was advertised as a sporty and economically priced Toyota sportscar. The first model Toyota MR2 was released in 1984 and sported a 1.5 or 1.6 L inline-four engine. Borrowing a few design cues from Ferrari, the MR2 was redesigned in 1989 and adopted a rounded and elongated body design. This model redesign used a 2.0 or 2.2 L inline-four engine with an optional turbo. The Clermont Toyota sportscar MR2 was rebranded as the “Spyder” during its third generation in North America and had an optional convertible top. Due to a decline in sales over the years, the Celica and MR2 were both discontinued in 2004.
