Toyota of Clermont explains ethanol

Did you notice any of the stickers on the gas pump last time you were filling up the tank in your Clermont Toyota? If so, then you probably took note of the ethanol sticker - the one that states the percentage of ethanol found in the fuel you're currently purchasing. Ethanol is a fuel additive that has an effect on your car's performance, and Toyota of Clermont is here to give you a short lesson (way more interesting than chemistry class, we promise) on this substance and what it can do for your drive time. What is ethanol? Ethanol is a common additive in all grades of gasoline these days, but the amount you'll find can vary widely. We pulled some quick facts to get you better acquainted with this substance - check it out: Ethanol is created by a natural process. It's formed when you ferment yeast with sugars and can be made from a wide variety of agricultural crops. Here in America, it's often made from corn since that crop is so plentiful. Conversely, in Brazil, it's often made with sugar cane since that crop is more prevalent there. Ethanol is used in more than just gasoline. It's also present in alcoholic beverages (you probably gathered that from the yeast + sugars fermentation bit) and is also used in the medical field as a disinfectant sometimes. Worldwide, it's distilled for a variety of different purposes. How does this substance affect your Clermont Toyota? Ethanol is also a viable fuel source for vehicles and is used as an additive in gasoline - here in the states, we've been adding it to our gasoline since the early 2000s. Why? Two main reasons: It's used to "stretch" the gasoline - adding it to fuel helps to preserve more fossil fuels. When added to gasoline, it reduces the number of carbon emissions coming out of your Clermont Toyota, making your performance greener. Most gasoline here in the U.S. has some small amount of ethanol in it - look at the aforementioned stickers next time you're at the gas station to see how much is in your fuel of choice. It's typically about 10% or less. You might be asking, if it's a fuel source, why don't we use ethanol instead of gasoline? It may sound cleaner, but it's actually not. In fact, if you were to utilize a mixture that was 85% ethanol and 15% gasoline, you'd actually produce more smog than if you were to just use straight gasoline! Additionally, ethanol isn't for every vehicle. It's hygroscopic - this means it absorbs moisture from the air around it. This pulls more water into your fuel tank and in older vehicles, this can spell trouble. It can cause rust and performance problems. Modern engines have safeguards against this, but if you drive a classic car, your best bet is to search for a fuel that's ethanol-free. If you need more info about the type of fuel you should be using in your car, call Toyota of Clermont today! Our Clermont auto service team can help you find the best gasoline for your ride. We're open seven days a week at (352) 404-7001 and conveniently located at 16851 State Road 50, just west of the Florida Turnpike.

Another week, another round of news to bless your Monday mornings. Here at Toyota of Clermont, we do our part to keep up with the latest goings-on in the Toyota-sphere. Recently we've seen a slew of news regarding the retiring of the Land Cruiser, a new 86 coming, and more. But, that was last week's news. The future is now and we have new topics to cover. In short, Toyota's Woven City has broken ground, there's a new plan to combat the world's carbon footprint, we might be getting a new paint color for TRD models, and are we seeing the downfall of the Crown? Check out these stories and more right here with Toyota of Clermont! News on News on News The headlines are abuzz with Toyota lately and we're here with the latest. Check it out here! The Woven City Has Broken Ground Reducing your carbon footprint is immensely important on both a personal and corporate level. Toyota delivered news about a year ago that they were designing a city in the foothills of Mt Fuji that spans 175 acres and seeks to exist free of emissions. At Toyota of Clermont we delivered this news but we're happy to report that ground has been broken on this revolutionary project/experiment. Akio Toyoda was present for the ceremony and reiterated that the intention of the project was a coexistence between environment, technology, and people. The city will include interwoven networks that are specific for various means of travel and commuting, autonomous machines for both assistance and transportation, and a zero net-carbon footprint impact. With the project just beginning, we're excited to see what the future holds. A New TRD Paint Color Might Be Coming If you haven't noticed, Toyota has recently been stamping a unique paint color on every Clermont TRD model. The Army Green paint won the hearts of off-roaders and fans of the edgier side of automotive. The 2021 Lunar Rock paint became an instant hit, so what's next? Well, some true Toyota fans have come to the conclusion it'll be a Citrus Lime Green, reminiscent of the olden days of the Prius. An Instagram user, @4runnersnacks, took the liberty of mocking up this potential paint color on a Clermont 4Runner model picture and the results are amazing! Toyota forum participants were wowed by the color and rumor is this color might be it. But, there's always the chance that we're completely wrong. Only time will tell. Compact Hydrogen Fuel-Cell Packs are Coming Toyota is continuing to explore various avenues of alternative fueling and carbon-footprint reducing technology. Two new BEVs are set to debut this year, the Mirai recently saw a complete upgrade, and now Toyota is aiming to sell their hydrogen fuel-cell technology in a more compact package. This move aims to popularize fuel-cell technology and bring it to more industries. The battery system would be sold as a compact generator unit to be used for stationary power or as a base for trucks, boats, trains, and more. These carbon-footprint reducing generators are set to release this year but there's no word on availability, price, and to which companies they will be sold to. What's Happening with the Toyota Crown? While we've been getting some great Toyota news lately, the retirement of several models isn't among the greats. The Land Cruiser is reportedly being retired in North America by the end of 2021 and the Crown might be next. Granted, we'll never see a Crown at Toyota of Clermont but this is one of Toyota's oldest and most beloved monikers across the rest of the globe. So, what happened? Well, the SUV craze, for one. Sedans have suffered a downturn in sales during recent years. For the Crown, sales went from around 200,000 to 36,000 per year in recent years. There are also several consumer complaints surrounding the famous Clermont sedan and Toyota has done little to improve. Will it be getting shelved for an SUV? Tell us what you think! tips for driving

Quick tips to make your Toyota car more comfortable

When you spend a lot of time behind the wheel - especially if you're a daily driver who has to commute to work or school and back - you want your car to be as comfortable as possible so you can stay focused and at ease during your drive time. Our cars are pretty comfortable already, if we may say so ourselves, but there's always room for improvement, right? Check out these quick Clermont Toyota tips for keeping your car as comfy as possible so you can enjoy every second you spend behind the wheel. Four ways to get more comfortable in your Toyota car Tip #1: Adjust your seat before you leave. Many of our Clermont Toyota cars have power-adjustable seats and some of them - like the Toyota Avalon - even have memory settings so you can adjust your seat to your desired position with the simple touch of one button. No matter how you're adjusting, do it before you leave the driveway. And keep in mind that for maximum comfort, you want to ensure that your feet should easily reach the pedals without having to stretch, your thighs should rest on the seat comfortably without the backs of your knees touching, and your hips should be as high as your knees. Additionally, you want your chin to be as high as your Toyota car's steering wheel. Tip #2: Make sure the air is clean. If you're riding with the windows up - which you're likely to do a lot in Florida, especially during the summer - you're breathing in filtered air. You want to make sure it's as pure as possible then, right? If you notice odd odors or a musty smell in your Toyota car's cabin, you may be due for a clean air filter. This car part can become dirty and even clogged over time, leading to bad smells and not-so-great breathing conditions. Have our Clermont auto service techs take a look for you and replace any filters that are no longer doing their job. Tip #3: Invest in accessories designed for comfort. You can always buy a few things to enhance the comfort of your drive time, too. Accessories like seat cushions and lumbar support, a padded steering wheel cover, and even a heated seat cushion can make your drive time that much more comfortable. And don't forget about accessories like the phone holder, a lap desk if you work from your car or even the ever-important sauce holder for that Chick-Fil-A sauce you need for your fries. Tip #4: Get the cabin to the right temperature. There's nothing worse than spending a summer in Florida in a car without a working air-conditioning system. Whether you need cold air to get home or you're freezing in the morning during our "winter", you should ensure that your car is able to get the cabin comfortable. This may mean paying a visit to our Toyota of Clermont auto service center to have our techs check your heating and cooling system over and making repairs or maintenance as needed. More than likely, one feature that tops that list (or at least ranks fairly high) is fuel efficiency. And why wouldn't it? We recommend visiting us to have them checked out by a professional auto service technician. Bad Fueling System Your fuel pump, injector, and other key parts comprise your fueling system and a sudden drop in fuel efficiency could mean there's an issue. This is a major Clermont Toyota system in your car and would need to be checked out by one of our auto service techs. Don't try to solve this one on your own (unless you're a pro). You Like That Accelerator a Little too Much You can argue that the accelerator was meant to be pressed (you're not wrong), but it wasn't designed to be put to the floor whenever you drive (that's excessive). Your Clermont Toyota car might be suffering from poor fuel efficiency because you drive recklessly and slam the gas pedal down like it's your job (unless you race professionally, chill out). Clermont Toyota Tacoma

Toyota to offer all-new Toyota Tacoma TRD lift kit

If you're the proud owner of a Toyota Tacoma - or you're thinking about buying one in the near future - we've got big news for you. Toyota is introducing its first-ever TRD lift kit for this much-loved truck, and Toyota of Clermont has all the details on what it can bring to your drive time. Check it out! First things first - this is the FIRST TRD lift kit ever produced by Toyota for the Clermont Toyota Tacoma. Up until now, if you wanted to put a lift kit on your truck you had to explore other avenues (and you would also lack the reliability and longevity of a Toyota product, as well as possibly mess with existing warranties). This lift kit will be dealer-installed, come with all the necessary hardware, and will also offer warranties for added peace of mind. Here are some more details: The kit is composed of Bilstein monotube shocks with digressive valving. Each shock is fitted with a red TRD dust boot, as well as "Tuned by TRD" graphics so there's no question where the kit came from. The front shocks offer an additional 2" of lift. They have an adjusted coil spring position on the shock tube as well as an extended rebound stroke. The rear shocks boost things by 1" in the back. They have a larger shock body than the standard Toyota Tacoma shock. This is a benefit to you because this means they can hold more oil, which in turn keeps things cooler and improves the damping response for better handling on rocky or uneven terrain. The rear shocks also have cast-iron spacers and larger piston and piston rods for enhanced strength. Overall, the lift kit will have enhanced ground clearance by 1.7". Additionally, the angles have all been improved - the approach angle is now +3.1 to 32 degrees, the breakover angle is now +1.6 to 23 degrees, and the departure angle is now +0.5 to 24 degrees. This all translates to much better handling no matter how tough the terrain gets. This new Tacoma TRD lift kit is also designed by and approved by TRD engineers. This means it's the only existing lift kit that is compatible with the Toyota Safety Sense System technology that you'll find in this Clermont Toyota truck. It also has a special, uniquely designed grille with heritage-inspired TOYOTA lettering on it (as opposed to the regular Toyota badge) and a new Toyota Safety System millimeter wave sensor. This is to ensure that the front camera works properly even in spite of the lift kit and additional height of the truck. This new TRD lift kit will be priced at $1,350 and will be compatible with all Toyota Tacoma V6 4x4 models after the 2020 model year. If you have the kit installed at time of purchase of your new truck, you'll get a three year/36,000 mile warranty on it; if you have it installed after the fact, you'll get a one year/12,000 mile warranty on it. Toyota to Add More Electric Cars to the U.S. Lineup

Toyota has been quite an interesting party when it comes to its stance on electric cars. Throwing shade at Tesla, Akio Toyoda describing the market as currently dismal and fantastical, and now we have news that Toyota is bringing 3 electrified models to North America, 2 of which will be battery powered EVs. While it may seem like a ball out of left field scenario for our favorite automotive manufacturer, the truth is that Toyota is largely committed to making a positive environmental impact with its lineup. The Clermont Toyota Prius began the trend as the world's first mainstream hybrid car and now we have more options than ever. Toyota's recent announcement comes as a surprise to many of us and we can't wait to see what new models are going to be introduced this year! If you're looking for the latest info, Toyota of Clermont has it right here! More Electric Cars Coming Your Way! In an unexpected turn of events, Toyota published a news release just days ago detailing how it would debut 3 new electric cars for the North American market and it would do it in 2021. One would be a plug-in Clermont EV, like the Toyota RAV4 Prime, and the other 2 would be strictly battery operated EVs, much like a Tesla vehicle. We definitely weren't expecting that to happen and especially with this quick of a turn around. It's likely we'll have more details later regarding what these vehicles will actually be along with their features and performance metrics, but for now we have some initial details: Toyota plans to unveil a specific electric car platform between now and 2025. The e-TNGA platform will, in effect, make it so that Toyota can design any one of its vehicles on the conventional and Lexus lineups to be electrified in some capacity. The overall goal of introducing these vehicles and providing more electric options is to allow Toyota's consumer base to enter the EV market from various affordability points. The idea is to lower greenhouse gases over a gradual period of time by allowing drivers to access electric cars in various purchasing stages. Multiple past news headlines point to a possible new electric car being produced rather than just a simple electrified version of an existing model. Plus, Toyota's deal with Panasonic to create more efficient vehicle batteries might bear fruit with this upcoming venture. Unfortunately, news regarding these new electric vehicles is fairly scarce. For now we'll have to wait until we receive more news to report further. But, judging from this recent news release and other reports we've seen, Toyota is planning big things for this year. The new Clermont Toyota Tundra could be unveiled soon, Toyota recently filed a trademark for the Celica name, and the Toyota 86 is getting a new design sometime soon!
