November has arrived and with it brings the SEMA show, the holidays, cooler weather, and the promise of the arrival of new Toyotas very, very soon - we're looking at you, 2022 Toyota Tundra. An all-new electric Toyota is coming We've talked about the new Toyota bz4X before, back when it was a new concept car being introduced to the public. Well, it's making the leap from concept to production - it's been officially announced that this new Toyota will be made into a passenger vehicle in Japan first, and hopefully head stateside soon after. BZ stands for "beyond zero" and Toyota hopes that with this eco-friendly electric car they can not only offer a clean drive time solution but actually help to improve the environment as well. Stay tuned for updates about its arrival in the US! Toyota Dream Car USA contest begins If you've got a budding artist in the family, this is their time to shine. Toyota is calling for all kids to design their dream car - or what they think cars should look like in the future - and submit it to them for the Toyota Dream Car USA Contest. Submissions can be made online or via US mail and should be sent in before January 31, 2022. The top three submissions will win cash prizes and a spot of honor at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles, CA. Pricing announced for the new 2022 Toyota 86 We've all known that the newly redesigned 2022 Toyota 86 is on its way and bringing with it a redesigned exterior and interior, as well as enhanced performance. We just got new details on it - this new Toyota sports car will boast a starting MSRP of just $27,700, keeping it an affordable option for drivers who want a sports car performance and aesthetic without the high sports car price tag. It should arrive next month, so follow us on social media for updates! Toyota moves up a spot on Fortune Magazine's Global 500 List 2020 was a rough year for the automotive industry, but despite a global pandemic and production shortages Toyota still managed to come out on top. It's been announced that they moved up a spot to spot 9 on the Fortune Magazine Global 500 List, which details the 500 largest companies in the world based on revenue. Toyota Tacoma and Toyota 86 win SEMA Awards SEMA has kicked off in Las Vegas and Toyota is already cleaning up when it comes to awards. Both the Toyota 86 and Toyota Tacoma won Best New Models to Customize awards, with the 86 taking the Sport Compact category while the Tacoma reigned supreme in the Midsize Truck category. The pandemic has upended quite a few things in our lives. First, toilet paper went scarce, and now just about everything else is. Yes, this is the modern world knee-deep in the Covid-19 pandemic and there's no real end in sight when it comes to production resuming to what it was prior. Not only has supply been constrained by supply chain woes, shipping route issues, and short staffing, but inflation is starting to take its hold on many products. This is simple economics at play and there's little we can do as consumers to fix the issue(s). Car buying right now is another issue to add to the laundry list. If you're in the market, my main question is why? If you're also shocked by the exorbitantly high prices of modern car shopping, you're not alone! Toyota of Clermont is here with some quick tips to help you work through pandemic shopping and still get a good deal on a new ride. How to be an Effective Pandemic Shopper Car buying is an interesting predicament right now. Dealerships that once sported "rock-bottom pricing" and "great deals" are now selling many of their new models before they even make it to the lot. Ones that do make it without being sold while in transit are usually sold for MSRP with pricing addendums attached. In all honesty, buying a Clermont Toyota car right now is inadvisable. You're going to wind up paying significantly more for a depreciating asset and unless circumstances prevail, you'll probably not make back as much as you spend when it comes time to trade. Like a Lot Such as the key to car buying any other time in your life, shopping around is key to finding the best deal. While vehicles are in short supply and dealerships are having little issue selling what they have (and don't yet), they still want your business. Inquire with multiple dealerships during your shopping process and find the best deal before you pull the trigger. If you can wait and extend your shopping time further, do it. You might lose out on a particular vehicle, but if you can save a few thousand or more, it'll be well worth it. Akio Toyoda is quoted wanting to turn the 86 and Supra duo into a triumvirate of sportscars and a third model has yet to be determined. Now, for the current rumors. They come from a Japanese website called Spyder7 that publishes pieces related to automotive news. Here's what the piece discusses: A large component of this piece is that the new Clermont Toyota MR2 could be a collaboration vehicle. This is fairly sound given the fact that Toyota's only other 2 sports models are both collaboration projects. The 86 with Subaru and the Supra with BMW. However, the piece claims that the partnership candidates are Lotus and Porsche. While it sounds ridiculous on its face, let's think for a moment why Toyota would want to partner with these 2 companies. Not only are they acclaimed sportscar manufacturers, but they also specialize in mid-engine vehicle architecture. Toyota partnered with BMW for the Supra because of their expertise with inline 6 engines, why wouldn't they partner with modern craftspeople to more accurately revive the MR2? The piece, while sounding a little too specific, also levels that the new Clermont Toyota MR2 will use plug-in hybrid technology mated to a 2.8 or 3.0-liter V6. Allegedly, the new MR2 will look similar to a 2004 Geneva Motor Show concept called the Toyota Alessandro Volta. All in all, these rumors could be totally bogus. But, don't count it out just yet. We're knee-deep in quite an interesting time in the automotive world. Electric cars are making a huge wave and many are looking to jump on. But, gasoline and internal combustion is still the way to go because of our current infrastructure and peoples' travel needs. Then, somewhere in between those two, you have hybrid cars. This perfectly balanced vehicle blends the electric drivetrain with an ICE and the result is a ride that still have the availability convenience of using gasoline but markedly consumes less gasoline. Clermont Toyota hybrid cars have been around since Toyota introduced the Prius back in 1997, but there are quite a few people out there that have some misconceptions about these vehicles and how they work. Hybrid Cars Need to be Plugged in In short, they don't. At least, not typically. There's a Learning Curve to Driving Them Driving a hybrid car in Clermont is actually identical to driving an ICE model. They're engineered very similarly and suspension and other critical components aren't altered. The main difference is that they run quietly. Much more quietly.
