Tokyo Motor Show info from Toyota of Clermont.

What You Should Know About the Tokyo Motor Show

There's nothing more exciting than seeing what's coming next in the automotive industry. Motor shows happen throughout the year in different countries, each one showcasing the best of the best and the future developments of our favorite auto manufacturers. For Toyota (our personal favorite auto brand), we've seen the unveiling of the new Toyota Supra, the introduction of concepts like the TJ Cruiser or the FT-4X, autonomous ride sharing vehicles, and so much more. At Toyota of Clermont we love keeping up to date with all motor shows to see what could be coming next to the dealership and the next up is the Tokyo Motor Show taking place from October 24th to November 4th this year. If you're interested in what's next in the automotive industry, check out the latest details on the Tokyo Motor Show from us at Toyota of Clermont. What's the Tokyo Motor Show? The Tokyo Motor Show has been hosted in Japan biennially since 1954. Each year the show hosts a variety of automakers, but namely Japanese makes like Toyota, Honda, and Subaru (to name a few). These companies, along with many other makes, showcase the latest technology and vehicles they've been working on. In recent years, due to international energy crises, the shows have been focused on renewable energy and vehicle driving autonomy. During the last show, held in 2017, Toyota unveiled several concepts, including the Clermont Toyota TJ Cruiser, the FT-4X, and a Toyota Crown Concept. What's Expected Ahead of This Year's Tokyo Motor Show? While the upcoming motor show is only a short time away, much of what's expected to be showcased this year can only be speculated. But, because of recent news and different auto industry experts' published information, we have a fairly good idea of what to expect. Here are a few things you might see at the Tokyo Motor Show in October: A first look at the GRMN Toyota Supra. While the 2020 Toyota GR Supra just recently made it to our lot here at Toyota of Clermont, an even more performance-heavy version is expected to be released by Toyota within the next model year or two. This model is expected to come equipped with greater horsepower, more performance-specific suspension, and a lighter body. A new Toyota 86/Subaru BRZ. Toyota's chief engineer of the new GR Supra has repeatedly stated that there are plans to keep their performance vehicle line a trio. While we're not sure of the third vehicle in this sub line-up, the Clermont Toyota 86 is next in line behind the Supra. It's rumored that a new Toyota 86, built on a new platform and featuring some modified engineering, will be arriving soon. It's likely this vehicle will still be a collaborative effort with Subaru. More info on the possibly upcoming Toyota TJ Cruiser. The "spiritual successor" to the Toyota TJ Cruiser might get some additional information during the Tokyo Motor Show, as it has been recently rumored to have gone into production. We might also see info about the FT-4X as well. The Tokyo Motor Show is coming soon and Toyota of Clermont will have all the info as its released.  Stay tuned and feel free to reach out to us at (352) 404 - 7000 with any questions.

Toyota of Clermont car flood damage tips.

How to Prevent and Deal with Car Flood Damage

Oh, water. It keeps us alive, it flows rivers, and fills the oceans. But, it can also be a nuisance when it comes to your car and home. With an impending hurricane likely going to strike the Clermont area, water may wind up in places you don't expect and don't want it to. Excessive rainfall causes flooding in houses and cars all the time and the damages can be extensive and expensive to repair. It's helpful to use tools like sandbags, plastic sheeting, and other things to prevent water from encroaching on your home and causing flood damage, but what about your Clermont Toyota vehicle? Unless you're able to protect your ride in a well sealed garage it'll likely be outside throughout the duration of the storm and could suffer significant damage. Flood damage is a real threat to your vehicle and it can be difficult to avoid if you live in an area that doesn't have the best drainage. If you're worried about possible flooding and how it could affect your ride, read on! Toyota of Clermont is here with a guide to help you prevent car flood damage and how to deal with it if it happens. How to Prevent Car Flood Damage With hurricane Dorian arriving in just a few days, it's likely that you're worried about what could happen with all the excessive rainfall and high winds. If you've already boarded your house, put sand bags down, and secured your belongings then you're doing a great job! But, if you haven't figured out what to do with your ride to prevent Clermont Toyota car flood damage, then you've got some prep to do. Here's what you should do to keep your vehicle from suffering flood damage: Park Your Car Under Cover: If you have open garage space or a place where your car can be safely covered from the rain and wind then use it. Your vehicle will fare far better under protective cover than outside in the elements. If You Have No Cover, Park on Higher Ground: Have you ever come home during or after a summer rain shower and your street has turned into a lazy river? While it sounds tempting to swim in (DON'T), your Clermont Toyota car won't have so much fun. If you can, try to park on higher ground rather than on the street. If the water rises high enough it can enter your vehicle's interior or exhaust system and lead to a whole mess of problems. Try Not to Park Under Trees: High winds means trees can get uprooted or branches can fall and your car will suffer a lot of damage if something falls on it. Try to avoid parking under trees during the storm. How to Deal with Car Flood Damage If your vehicle ultimately suffers flood damage, don't panic. Here are a few steps to take to minimize damage to your Clermont Toyota ride and start repairs: Don't start your vehicle immediately. There could be built up water in the engine compartment or exhaust system and that could cause a total engine failure. Wait for things to dry up and then try. Check the interior. If you notice water inside the vehicle, grab some tools and start removing everything you can. Try to remove the seats, center console, and head-unit to avoid further damage to these parts. If you have one, use a wet/dry vacuum to remove water from the floors and seats. This will help start the drying process and prevent mold from growing. Start drying the interior. The easiest way to do this is to use fans to start getting air flowing throughout the interior. Check EVERYTHING! After you've finished drying the interior and reinstalled all the parts you removed, start to check everything. Try out your power mirrors, check the gauge cluster, and other electronic component that may have been affected. Make sure to prepare well for this incoming storm and keep yourself, your loved ones, and your ride safe. If your vehicle suffers any damage from the storm, we can help you fix it at Toyota of Clermont! Visit us at 16851 State Road 50 and stay safe!

Toyota of Clermont tips

6 tips for safely evacuating a hurricane

So, it looks like Hurricane Dorian is headed our way. It could throw us a curveball and swing north or south, but most tracks have it affecting Central Florida near the end of Labor Day weekend. Whether you're heading out of town this time or just educating yourself for future storms, Toyota of Clermont is here to help. Check out these 6 Clermont Toyota tips on how to safely evacuate a hurricane when the time comes. Don't evacuate a hurricane without reading these tips Tip #1: Decide on a final destination. Where are you going to end up when you evacuate? You should have a final destination in mind and either have a hotel booked, let your friends and family know you're coming for a visit, or know where a hurricane shelter is located in the town. That way you can get settled once you arrive to ride out any outer effects of the storm. Tip #2: Make sure you can take your pets. You should NEVER leave your pets behind in a hurricane - no excuses. Before you book a hotel or decide on a shelter, make sure your four-legged friends will be allowed in as well. Be sure to pack their food, medications, and some toys and a bed so they're comfortable and calm when you arrive. Let Toyota of Clermont get your car road-ready Tip #3: Get your car caught up on routine car maintenance. Before you hit the highway to get out of town, make sure your car is caught up on all of its routine maintenance. You don't want to get delayed by a flat tire, a dead battery, or an overheated car. Let our Clermont Toyota service techs get you caught up on things like oil changes, battery inspections, and tire rotations before you leave. Tip #4: Know what to pack. Do you know what to pack when evacuating a hurricane? Our Clermont Toyota dealership recommends you bring clothing, medication, any important paperwork, your IDs, cash, and pillows and blankets. You should also remember to toss in a first aid kit, phone chargers, and bottled water and snacks to take to your final destination. Tip #5: Gas up BEFORE the mad rush begins. The gas stations are going to be crowded the closer the hurricane gets, so gas up a few days before you leave. That way you can quickly and efficiently get out of town and top the tank off when you're further away and the lines are shorter. This way, you're not stuck waiting in line forever when you're trying to get out of town. Tip #6: Check your route before you leave the house. Check your intended route for traffic and weather before you leave your home. Some routes get choked with people trying to evacuate and if you check yours ahead of time, you might be able to find an alternate route that will get you to your final destination faster. Stay safe this weekend! If you need to get caught up on auto service before you head out, call Toyota of Clermont to schedule today. We're open seven days a week at (352) 404-7001.

Toyota of Clermont Toyota TJ Cruiser

All About the Rumored Toyota TJ Cruiser

Industries move fast. In technology, new cell phones, tablets, game systems, and other products are released year after year. In the automotive industry, the same holds true. The new model year is usually released during the previous calendar year and if it's not an entire re-design it's typically a half design that still provides drivers with something new to look forward to. On the docket for Toyota is the Clermont Toyota Land Cruiser Heritage Edition, the released 2020 Toyota Supra, TRD Pro editions of the Toyota Camry and Avalon, and much more! For most drivers, this would seem like enough vehicles to satiate even the biggest of Toyota fans, but there's more! Introducing, the Toyota TJ Cruiser! Not to be confused with the famous Toyota FJ Cruiser, this new vehicle was initially teased as a concept at the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show. It is now, reportedly, going into production to be debuted in Japan for the 2020 model year. Toyota of Clermont is here with the latest news on the exciting new Toyota TJ Cruiser, check it out! What is the new Toyota TJ Cruiser? In short, the new Clermont Toyota TJ Cruiser is part SUV part minivan. The concept was originally unveiled at the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show and featured a boxy design with a 4-seat interior design. The futuristic design also featured an engine compartment that opened in the opposite direction from almost all other production Toyota vehicles (think reverse style, like a semi-truck). Plus, the interior features a completely fold-down passenger seat for maximum cargo space. The front doors open like a typical vehicle and the two backseat doors slide open like a minivan. The Clermont Toyota TJ Cruiser, while some call it the spiritual successor to the FJ Cruiser, will use a hybrid power-train similar to that of the Toyota Prius or Corolla hybrid. The 1.8-liter hybrid power-train and the 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine specs are heavily rumored to be options for this new vehicle. While the concept only featured seating for up to five, the general consensus is that it will likely come with an optional third row in some models. How are automotive journalists so certain that the new Toyota TJ Cruiser will be heading to production soon? An article obtained from a Japanese vehicle journalism site claims that Toyota has decided to unveil a production model of this vehicle in October of this year at the Tokyo Motor Show to then be sold in December. While there's no confirmation of this vehicle's arrival in the North American markets, the vehicle will be built on the TNGA platform (on which many production Toyotas are built) so we can't rule out the possibility for certain. One thing's for sure, a vehicle as versatile, fuel-efficient, and stylish as this will be welcomed warmly at Toyota of Clermont! Local coffee shops near Orlando

6 Groovy Coffee Shops to Visit for a Rainy Weekend

Oh, summer time. The sunshine, beaches, and the predictable afternoon showers. Whoever dubbed Florida the sunshine state was definitely (they definitely hit the nail on the head with the "lightning capital" title though). Yes, it's true. Florida and the Clermont area are notorious for afternoon showers and, if you're not expecting it, it can really dampen your afternoon. Farmer's markets, the beach, and walking around town are all out of the question (unless you plan on running under an umbrella all day). So, the question is, what are you supposed to do on this fine weekend if it's supposed to rain? While we recommend (like 10/10 recommend) chilling indoors and taking a nap, there are still plenty of options for those looking to get out of the house. If you're planning on exploring the areas around Orlando this weekend, local coffee shops are excellent places to try! You can take your laptop, a good book, or just people watch. Toyota of Clermont has a list of six local coffee shop you should check out this weekend. Stay dry fellow caffeine addicts! Local Coffee Shops You Need to Check Out 1) Craft & Common Located off Robinson St near Orlando' downtown area, this coffee shop is definitely what comes to mind when you think of trendy. This eclectic coffee shop sources their dairy from cattle that's 100% grass-fed, offers specialty coffee based drinks (the Wild Child is one of their most popular), and alcoholic drinks as well. They also have a small food menu if you get hungry during your people watching. 2) Drunken Monkey Tea, cookies, and in-house roasted coffee, what could be better? Drunken Monkey Coffee House is a local favorite located on Bumby Ave. that has a lot of personality. This local coffee shop is open late and also hosts events throughout the month for patrons to enjoy (they're hosting comedy nights this Friday and Saturday). 3) Snowbean Specializing in Korean beverages and dishes, Snowbean is a must for people looking for a different kind of coffee drinking experience. This local coffee shop sits right on Lake Barton, near Orlando, Snowbean offers several different coffee beverages along with unique pastries and Korean candies and items. It's also open until 2:00 am daily so you can get a caffeine buzz on when you should be sleeping! 4) Stardust Video and Coffee Even if you're not a coffee fan or a caffeine addict (how?), this place is worth checking out just to see it. Stardust Video and Coffee initially began as a video rental store that served coffee and eventually morphed into a coffee shop that sells books and serves alcohol. It has a variety, a truly local and eclectic vibe, and it's worth seeing. 5) Holy Grain Coffee The English usually get a rap for being tea and coffee connoisseurs, but Brazil is another hub for tea and coffee times. Holy Grain Coffee's owners are from Brazil and have brought the Brazilian coffee time experience to Orlando. This cafe is trendy, special, and offers a unique take on coffee that you can't get in many other places. It's right by our sister store, Toyota of Orlando, so go check it out! 6) Downtown Credo Three locations, a mission that goes beyond coffee, and name your price? This coffee shop is more than just coffee, it's a movement that's creating a positive impact on those who have worked tirelessly to deliver that caffeine-filled beverage you enjoy. Downtown Credo is a must for those looking to experience a positive coffee shop. They have locations in College Park, Health Village (off Princeton), and the North Quarter (off Orange Ave) and host several events like trash clean ups, coffee origin trips, and get-fit weeks. Plus, you can name your own price for your cup of coffee. Check it out! Have a great weekend everyone and stay dry!

Get back to school with these 5 essential auto services

Back to school is here, and whether you're sending your college freshman off to campus for fall semester or taking your place in the elementary school pickup line, you need your ride to be prepped and ready for it. Toyota of Clermont is here to help! Our expert auto service techs recommend 5 main car care items that you should tackle before you hit the road for back to school, and we're detailing them below so you can get them scheduled and take on the school year stress-free. Don't take on the back to school commute without ticking off these car care items Auto service #1: Oil change Your car depends on oil to keep the engine cool and lubricated, so when the oil gets low or is too dirty to function, you face big issues inside the engine bay. Make sure you stick to an oil change schedule at our Clermont Toyota service center and if it's been a while since you had one, schedule one before you start ramping up your daily drive time to accommodate back to school. Auto service #2: Detailing Don't head into a fresh school year with a dirty car. Schedule car detailing at Toyota of Clermont, or simply DIY it in your driveway. You'll want to tackle items like: Vacuuming the interior, including the floor mats and trunk Wiping down all interior surfaces with the proper cleaners Cleaning the windshield and windows Washing the exterior Applying a few coats of quality wax to protect the paint And removing all clutter so your ride is organized and has plenty of space for school supplies, sports gear, and instrument cases. Auto service #3: Coolant check Fall may be making its way to other parts of the country, but it's still summer weather here in Central Florida. This means your ride is working overtime to stay cool, so ensure it has the tools it needs to stay cool throughout the semester by scheduling a coolant check. Auto service #4: Tire inflation You want your tires to be inflated to the proper PSI at all times, but especially when you're tacking on more miles with your back to school routine. Ensure that they're inflated to the right level (you can find it in your owner's manual) so you get sufficient traction AND the fuel efficiency you deserve from your ride. Underinflated or overinflated tires have a hard time gripping the road and can also drop your MPGs. Auto service #5: Car inspection Why not bring your car to Toyota of Clermont for a multi-point inspection? We offer them at no-cost at your Toyota service appointment, and our techs will give your car a thorough check from bumper to bumper to ensure it's in good condition and you don't have any maintenance issues or repairs that need to be addressed before you take on back to school. Car seat shopping tips from Toyota of Clermont

Essential Tips for Picking the Right Car Seat

As a parent you want the best for your kids and you always want them to be as safe as possible in every situation. Especially when it comes to riding in the back seat. Driving is a common thing that most of us do every single day, but we often forget just how unsafe driving really is. You're commuting at high speeds in a machine made of metal and you have to depend on other people and yourself to make the right decision(s) to stay safe while on the road. It can be pretty nerve-wracking driving alone, but add your child to the equation and the situation becomes even more dire. That's where car seats come in. These devices keep your child contained and safe while you're on the road and are required when traveling with a child. But, like with most things, there are numerous options to choose from when selecting your child's seat and you'll likely feel lost shopping for one. Lucky for you, Toyota of Clermont is here to help you become a professional car seat shopper with these essential tips. Follow these Tips to Pick the Right Car Seat 1) Choose the Right Seat Type Car seats can be categorized by general shape and type. These types are meant for different age and weight ranges are your child gets older and heavier. Rear facing Clermont Toyota car seats are typically reserved for smaller children like newborns and one year olds. Rear-facing/Forward-facing are used in the transition phase from a one year old to a two or even three year old toddler. Then booster seats are used until your child can sit normally in the back seat without needing an additional sear. 2) Before You Buy, Familiarize Yourself with the Seat's Features and Parts Every Clermont Toyota car seat comes equipped with essential parts like adjustable straps and anchors to hold into the seat. But, there might be additional features you might want included with your seat. Make sure to research and see which additional features you'd like for your child's car seat. At Toyota of Clermont, we advise against installing aftermarket parts to your child's seat as they can affect the integrity of the seat. 3) Read the Label Before You Buy Your new car seat will come with an attached warning label. Make sure to read this. It contains essential information like height, weight, and age limits. 4) Don't Buy a Used Car Seat While purchasing a used car is a great option if you're looking to get a quality ride and save some hard-earned money, the same can't be said for Clermont Toyota car seats. Most times you likely won't know the history of the seat and there could be components missing. It's better to buy new to make sure your child is as safe as possible. 5) Register the Car Seat All Clermont Toyota car seats come with a consumer registration card that you should fill out and send in as soon as possible. This will keep you informed about possible safety recalls in the future and where to get replacements parts and other components. Shopping for a car seat for your child and your Clermont Toyota car can be challenging. But, with these tips, you'll have no trouble finding the right one to keep your child safe!

car exhaust system

Troubleshooting your exhaust system: A simple guide

When most people hear the term " exhaust system ", they automatically think of the set of tailpipes sticking out from under the back of their car. They're not wrong - the tailpipe is an essential part to this system. However, there's a lot more to it than that! Your car's exhaust system actually stretches from engine bay to tailpipe, leaving a lot to maintain and troubleshoot in between. This system is integral to a safe and efficient performance, but also to maintaining our environment. Toyota of Clermont is here with a quick troubleshooting guide for this VIP system so you can save time AND money. Here are some things to look out for! 6 common car exhaust system issues to look out for #1: A gasoline smell inside the cabin. Do you smell gas inside the cabin of your car? If so, get it to our Clermont Toyota service center right away. Not only can this lead to carbon monoxide poisoning for you and your passengers - which can be fatal - it stems from a major leak inside your exhaust system that needs to be fixed immediately. #2: A tailpipe that is rattling or hanging lower than it should be. Can you hear your tailpipe rattling against the car when you're in motion? Is it hanging lower than it should underneath the car? This can damage the rest of the system as well as become road debris if the issue gets bad enough. Let our auto service techs get your tailpipe reattached properly. #3: Hissing or tapping noises from the engine. Can you hear strange hissing or tapping noises coming from the engine bay? These sounds usually result from leaks in the exhaust system - usually to do with the manifold gasket - and you need to get them resolved ASAP to avoid further damage. #4: A burning smell When your exhaust system has issues with gaskets and valves wearing out or breaking, exhaust fumes tend to build up. Believe it or not, the heat from the fumes can actually start to melt the plastic wiring components within the system and cause major issues. You may also see smoke coming from the tailpipe. Let our Clermont auto service techs take care of it for you! #5: Poor power and acceleration Do you feel like your car has to work a lot harder to get normal acceleration, or that it's losing power? This is indicative of an issue with the exhaust system - typically, a leak. It's not a DIY fix, so schedule an appointment with our Clermont Toyota techs so they can pinpoint the leak and repair it. #6: Reduced fuel efficiency As a result of reduced acceleration and power, your car will try to overcompensate and end up using more gas. This leads to reduced fuel efficiency (and a reduced bank account). Let Toyota of Clermont get you back on the road Don't let your car's exhaust system issues break the bank - schedule maintenance or repairs at Toyota of Clermont today! Call (352) 404-7001, 7 days a week.

It's no secret that Orlando and Clermont are hosts to entertaining weekend activities. The theme parks are obvious ones, but then you have amazing restaurants, great shopping, and so many other great options for a fun way to spend the weekend. While your mind may be stuck on the obvious choices, there are definitely some unique places to visit that you probably didn't know about. Introducing, cat cafes! These unique establishments are truly special and will make for a memorable and exciting weekend for everyone (especially if you're a cat lover). Toyota of Clermont has the details on cat cafes and where you can find a few of them in town and near Orlando. What is a Cat Cafe? You may be desperate for a fun activity to do this weekend, but you're likely wanting to know what a Clermont cat cafe is before you commit to visiting one. To put it simply, cat cafes are a place, usually a small restaurant or coffee house, that incorporates feline friends in the mix. And no, the cats aren't baristas (that would be crazy). Cats are given their very own play zone complete with cat trees, toys, places to climb, and lots of attention. Cat cafes host felines from local animal shelters and encourage patrons to interact with them with the hopes of them getting adopted. All in all, cat cafes are great. Great small pastries, coffee, plenty of cats, and they have the chance to find a new forever home. These eclectic places are very few and far between, but luckily there's one in Clermont and one coming to downtown Orlando soon! Let's dive a bit deeper into these cat cafe locations and what they offer. The Cat Cafe Orlando Located at 532 Cagan Park Ave. in Clermont, The Cat Cafe Orlando has partnered with local brand Axium Coffee and the SPCA Florida to bring together great beverages and the cutest cats. The cafe uses a 1,000 square-foot space for about 12 - 15 cats to freely roam and enjoy themselves. The cat area has a separate entrance from the actual cafe so patrons have the option to just enjoy their coffee with some feline company or grab it and go. The cost for entrance into the cat area is $8 per hour for adults and $4 for children under 12 years old. The Kitty Beautiful While we have a cat cafe right in Clermont, this one's coming to the downtown Orlando area so you can experience amazing feline hospitality if you're having a day in the city. This cafe partners with Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando and has free roaming feline residents who are all fully adoptable. driving in the rain

5 ways to prepare your car for driving in the rain

While Florida is known around the country as the "Sunshine State", we definitely get our fair share of rain, especially in the summer. Anyone who lives here knows that we're prone to heavy afternoon thunderstorms throughout the summer season that can lead to downpours, heavy winds, lightning, and more. Not only that, we're at risk for hurricanes from May to November. Basically, if you're a resident of the Sunshine State, you need to have your car ready for driving in the rain. Toyota of Clermont is here with 5 tips from our Toyota service center techs to help you get your car prepped for wet weather. Prep for driving in the rain with these simple auto service appointments Tip #1: Get routine brake service as scheduled. You always want full stopping power on your side when driving, but even more so when you're driving in the rain. Slippery roads and the possibility of sudden stops mean you need your brakes to be in top-notch condition. Let our Clermont auto service techs put you on a brake service schedule so you can ensure your entire braking system is always where it needs to be. Tip #2: Don't forget to regularly check your tires. Your tires are what comes in contact with wet roads, so you need them to provide as much grip as possible. Regularly inspect them for any damage (like blisters, sidewall separation, punctures, etc.) and make sure they're always properly inflated to the right PSI (this information can be found in your owner's manual). You should also routinely check that the tread level is high enough and if it's too low to allow for proper traction, replace your tires to avoid skidding out and losing control of your vehicle. Tip #3: Make sure your defroster is working. When combined with heat and humidity, driving in the rain can cause some seriously foggy windows. The best way to combat the lack of visibility is to run the defroster - make sure yours is working so you have a clear view out of the front of your car AND the back. Tip #4: Replace your windshield wipers as necessary. Your wiper blades are another imperative part of your visibility when you're driving in the rain. If they're making chattering or squeaking noises, leaving streaks on the glass, or simply smearing water around instead of clearing your windshield properly, it's time for a new set. Our Toyota of Clermont parts store can help you choose the right set and even assist in installing them to get you back out on the road. Tip #5: Make sure your headlights are shining bright. Even if you're driving in the rain in the daytime, you still need to turn your headlights on... and this means you want them shining brightly. If your headlights are dull or you have a burnt out bulb, it's time to visit our Clermont auto service center and have our techs take a look.
