Have you ever given any thought to exactly how your car gets up and going? As far as you know, you just turn the key and you're ready to hit the road. However, there are some complex processes taking place under the hood before you even hit the accelerator, and one of the biggest pieces of that puzzle is your set of spark plugs. Today our Clermont auto service techs are giving you the ins and outs of spark plugs and how they work, as well as how to troubleshoot them. What is a spark plug? Essentially, a spark plug is a small plug that plugs into your engine's cylinder. Its job is to ignite the fuel inside the cylinder so your engine can start. Fuel alone won't do it - that gas that you pumped into the fuel tank is pushed through the fuel lines into the fuel injectors, where it's then mixed with air that's been pulled into the engine via the air intake. When oxygen and fuel are properly mixed, the spark plugs "spark" to ignite the mixture and spur things into motion. Obviously, your spark plugs play a vital part in your car's performance so it's important to maintain and replace them when needed. You shouldn't have to spring for new ones too often - they usually last at least 30,000 miles and possibly more depending on the condition of your ride and your drive time habits. However, just like any other part they do wear out over time and stop working. Here are two main reasons you'll have to have new ones installed eventually. Buildup of deposits. The fuel and air mixture that your spark plugs ignites does cause a buildup on the plugs themselves, and this can cause to preignition (which in turn, means a jerky and unreliable starting process). A wider gap of space. Your spark plugs have to "jump" a gap of space to ignite the fuel-oxygen mixture and because of wear and tear, the gap gets bigger over time. This makes it harder for them to do their job of getting your car started. Going all the way back to 2017, we've known for some time that a new Gazoo Racing (GR) concept was in the works at Toyota (and we're not talking about the beloved GR Clermont Toyota Supra). It's been a while, but we finally have more information about the fabled Toyota GR Yaris! Believe it or not, hatchbacks make excellent racing vehicles and Toyota has taken one of its most compact models and turned up the heat. While we have the sporty Toyota Corolla Hatchback in the current lineup, this new model has us with visions of checkered flags and finish lines dancing in our heads. While we don't know many of the more specific features of this new vehicle, we do have some new information to reveal that will have you just as excited as we are! News About the New 2020 Toyota GR Yaris New Body Style New images of the Clermont Toyota GR Yaris have been revealed and there's no camo! This means we can discern the exact looks of the new Yaris and we are definitely impressed. The new Gazoo Racing concept revises the look of the current model year Yaris by removing two doors. The new GR Yaris opts for a coupe/hot hatch three door design that ups the sporty feel of this once compact economical hatchback. The front bumper fronts a much more aggressive look and stance that pairs well with some beefy wheels. The roof-line slopes smoothly right into a rear spoiler and dual-exhaust tips. New Engineering Features While these are just rumors and speculations, we believe that there's plenty of truth to these claims. The new Clermont Toyota GR Yaris will be powered by a turbocharged 4-cylinder gasoline engine that could be paired with an all-wheel drive system. Some other rumored, but very notable, features include a manual gearbox, a drifting-friendly handbrake lever, and even an intercooler water spray button. This system is used on many racing vehicles to better regulate the temperature of the motor and increase output power. If the rumors are true, the Clermont Toyota GR Yaris will have this function included as an OEM system. New Interior Features While the interior remains largely similar to the sedan counterpart of this Toyota model, there could easily be a change between now and the official reveal date of this mighty racer. So far, we can see that the new GR Yaris will include new GR badging throughout the cabin along with button functions for some of the new engineering features we listed above. It's unclear if the interior will include a sportier look in the future, but we still enjoy it anyway!   The new Clermont Toyota GR Yaris sounds like an amazing little racer that we can't wait to welcome to our lot. Holidays at Old Town Old Town, Kissimmee is a truly unique destination that offers a variety of activities throughout the year. Light Up UCF UCF's campus is truly beautiful and unique, but the holiday season brings a little something extra special. Light Up UCF is going on now until January 5th and attendees can experience activities like holiday movie viewing, ferris wheel riding, and ice skating! Now Snowing Celebration Central Florida's original snow event is going on this year with nightly snowfall every hour on the hour from 6 - 9 pm. In addition, you can experience the ice skating rink, performances from local artists and musicians, photo ops with Santa, train rides, and horse-drawn carriage rides. However, if you're heading further north than Jacksonville, there's a chance you may see a little (or a lot, depending on where you do) of snow during your drive time. You'll want to drop your speed significantly when driving in the snow, especially if it's actively snowing. Snowfall can impede your view of the road and your surroundings, and snow is slippery. Slowing your speed will give you more control over your vehicle and lessen your chances of spinning out and losing traction. Tip #2: Take turns slowly and carefully. Taking turns when driving in the snow can be tricky, especially if you drive a front-wheel drive car. Your back tires can easily slide out if you take a turn too fast and that can lead to you losing control of your vehicle. Make sure you slow down before a turn, refrain from jerking the wheel too hard, and use your turn signal to indicate your movements. Tip #3: Avoid sudden movements. Sudden movements like hard braking, quick acceleration, and turning the wheel too fast can all lead to a loss of control when driving in the snow. Keep  your turns smooth and slow, press the accelerator gradually, and learn how to slowly and evenly apply the brakes to bring your car to a stop without spinning out. Tip #4: Navigate hills with care. Driving on hills is also tricky in the snow. You don't want to power up the hill with a lot of acceleration as you can easily lose control when things even out at the top. You also don't want to stop on the hill at any point as you can start to slide backward. Take the hill slowly but steadily, keeping a constant speed without any jerky steering movements until you hit the top. Tip #5: Leave extra space. Leave extra space between your car and other cars - you may need more time to brake or make maneuvers to avoid an accident, so extra space means extra time. Currently, Toyota has hydrogen based fuel stations located primarily on the west coast of the U.S. (in central California) and one station in Hawaii. While gasoline is likely to catch fire and lead to the burning of other fluids in the vehicle, hydrogen fuel leaks will likely not catch fire as the gas will quickly dissipate out of the leak site.
