Car shopping tips: Why should you request a used car history report?

When you're shopping for a used car, it's important to do your due diligence. It's always important to research and make lists and take test drives regardless of whether you're buying new or used. But with a pre-owned vehicle, there's a whole new element introduced into the equation; the car has a history. You want to know where it's been before you decide where it's going! Toyota of Clermont is here with three reasons you should ALWAYS request a used car history report when purchasing pre-owned. <span data-mce-type="bookmark" style="display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;" class="mce_SELRES_start"></span> Three reasons you need a vehicle history report Reason #1: You want to see how many previous owners the vehicle had. It may not seem that important to you, but it can be. The more times a car has switched hands, the more likely it is that it wasn't kept up to date on maintenance. There's also a higher chance of it having been in accidents. This means more legwork on your part ensuring that the car has been well-cared for! Decide if multiple owners are acceptable to you, and then do your research if you decide yes. Reason #2: You need to be aware of any and all car accidents and subsequent repairs. How many accidents or collisions has the car been in? Remember, each one will decrease your car's value. Additionally, if repairs were made after the accident you want to be aware of them so you can ensure they were done correctly and well. If you find that the car has been in an accident and had repairs, ask for the receipts and warranties that go along with them. Also, if you find that the car has been in an accident and it's NOT on the vehicle history report, it's time to start asking questions. Reason #3: You want to verify the mileage. You should ALWAYS double check the mileage on a used car before you sign the dotted line. The best way to do this is to look at the number on the odometer and then make sure that it matches the number on the CarFax report. If there's a big discrepancy, it could mean that the odometer has been tampered with and that the true mileage of the car is being concealed. Who knows what else the seller could be hiding from you? It may be time to walk away. Toyota of Clermont can help you get behind the wheel of a reliable car today! Like we said, a used car history report is an excellent way to ensure that you're getting a safe and reliable vehicle. Ask for one every time you test drive a pre-owned car! Here at Toyota of Clermont, we offer a free CarFax vehicle history report alongside every single pre-owned vehicle on our lot. Give us a call to learn more and schedule your test drive today - Toyota of Clermont is just off the Florida Turnpike at 16851 State Road 50, and you can give us a call at (352) 404-7000!

Windshield wiper maintenance.

When to replace windshield wipers, explained

Windshield wipers are essential to keeping your way clear when low visibility conditions strike. While they may not be as shiny as a new chrome accent or as fun as a turbocharger, windshield wipers keep you and other drivers safe. It’s important to keep them maintained and to replace them regularly. To help you see just how important these parts are, Toyota of Clermont is here with a comprehensive guide on how to maintain and when to replace your windshield wipers. Types of windshield wiper blades Like there are different Clermont Toyota models, there are different types of windshield wipers. To make sure you purchase the correct replacement blades when it's time to replace windshield wipers, here are the different types of blades to look for: Traditional frame-style wipers One of the most common types of windshield wipers, traditional frame style uses a metal frame that the wiper blade is mounted on. It’s used on quite a few Clermont Toyota vehicles as is a very affordable option. Winter wipers Winter wipers are specifically engineered to withstand harsh conditions like ice and snow. They favor a bulky design by using a large rubber sheath to prevent freezing. You won’t find these on many Clermont Toyota models because of their specific utility. Premium beam style Designed like a streamlined version of the winter wiper blades, premium beam windshield wipers use a single-blade one-piece model. This allows them to contour to your Clermont Toyota’s windshield for more efficient performance. They’re priced higher than a typical set of windshield wipers, but users and manufacturers claim longer lifespans and better aesthetic as some of the main benefits. Installing your new wiper blades When it comes time to replace your current wiper blades, choosing between different brands and types can make things confusing. Plus, you have to factor in the correct size to fit your particular vehicle. To make sure you select the correct size, consult your owner’s manual or ask one of our auto service experts at Toyota of Orlando! After you’ve narrowed down the correct size, brand, and type, next comes installation. To get you started, here are a few pointers: Make sure to install them in pairs. Just like new headlights, windshield wipers need to be replaced together to keep them aging at the same time and give you an optimal performance. Before installing your new wiper blades, check to see the arm type. There are three different ones: side post, J hook, and bayonet. While installation changes depending on the type of arm and windshield wiper you’re putting on your Orlando Toyota, they all have locking mechanisms that don’t require any additional tools for install. Patience is a virtue and you’re going to need it when installing new wiper blades. If you have trouble with it, our Toyota of Clermont auto service team is always here to help! When to replace windshield wipers at Toyota of Clermont Are your current wipers not clearing things up for you? A few signs you're going to need new ones include, screeching or shrieking noises, vibrating wiper blades, and smears or streaks of water on the windshield. We’ve got you covered at Toyota of Clermont! Our expert auto service techs can fix you up with a brand-new set and install them for you at a price you’ll love. Toyota of Clermont tips for detailing your car interior

Gum wrappers and food falling between the seats, dirt from your shoes getting into the floor mats, spilled coffee on your center console, or whatever it may be, your Clermont Toyota car interior takes a lot of punishment over time. Keeping it clean can be a bother, especially when the mess has piled up for so long but, maintaining a clean interior after a good detailing is a lot easier than you think. If you’re unsure about how to detail your car interior, have no fear, Toyota of Clermont is here with an easy guide to cleaning your interior. A few easy steps for a spotless car interior Step 1) Get your tools together. If you want to detail your car interior properly, you’re going to need the right tools. Surface specific cleaners, a vacuum cleaner, brushes and cloths, and plenty of space are just a few things you’ll need. Having these together will help speed up the cleaning process and give you an ideal detailing. Step 2) Have a game plan. While it may seem like a good idea to dive headfirst into your car detailing, we at Toyota of Clermont recommend that you have a plan of attack to efficiently clean your car interior. Always start up high, meaning wipe down the windshield, the dashboard, and air conditioning vents before moving on to the center console, seats, and carpet. This will keep dust and other debris from getting on areas you’ve already cleaned. Step 3) Start cleaning! Now that you have a plan in mind and the right tools, it’s time to start cleaning! Start by using a glass cleaner and microfiber cloth to clean the interior sides of your windows and windshield. From there, use an all-purpose cleaner and/or conditioner to wipe your dashboard and plastic parts near the infotainment system and air conditioning cluster. Make sure to avoid using a seat cleaner for these parts because you could wind up staining these parts or leaving yourself with another thing to clean. Perhaps the most difficult parts to clean when detailing your Clermont Toyota car interior are the seats. Getting down in the nooks and crannies can prove challenging, but this will keep you from finding hidden surprise messes later. Depending on the material your car seats are made of, you’ll have to use specific cleaners to get the optimal detailing you’re looking for. If your seats are made of leather, use a leather cleaner with an added conditioner to better preserve the clean and the material itself over time. Vacuuming your Clermont Toyota car interior can be tricky when trying to get to all the spaces under and between your seats. Remove your floor mats before starting to vacuum and clean them outside of your Clermont Toyota. Move your seats forward and backward for easy access and use the brush and narrow nozzle attachments on your vacuum to get into those hard to reach areas. If you’re finding stains on your Clermont Toyota car interior carpet, you might want to think about renting a foaming carpet cleaner. This will give your carpet a deep clean and get rid of any stains you may find. Step 4) Eliminate odors. If your car interior has been messy for an extended period, odors can appear and persist if left unchecked. Before you use an odor remover or air freshener, be sure to find where the smell is coming from. It could be something that’s been dropped in your Clermont Toyota somewhere or even bacteria or mold in the air conditioning vents. If you’re having trouble finding the source of the odor, our auto service techs at Toyota of Clermont would be happy to help you! Your car interior needs met at Toyota of Clermont Detailing your car interior can be rewarding, but also challenging and time consuming. If you still have questions about what to use to get the job done or can’t find the time to do it, Toyota of Clermont is here to help! Our auto parts department has a great selection of detailing products and our expert auto service techs can clean your interior for you during your next oil change or tire rotation. Toyota of Clermont exhaust system

An exhaustive list of exhaust systems from Toyota of Clermont

The good old exhaust system, sometimes noisy and sometimes quiet. Either way, it’s easy to forget about the essential role this part plays to keep your vehicle running smoothly. Funneling out fumes, deposits and waste from your engine all while giving a slick look to your Toyota’s rear end are all in a day’s work for your exhaust system. With five different types, each with their own performance and fuel efficiency benefits, it can get confusing trying to keep track of them. At Toyota of Clermont, we've created a simple to follow guide on this essential auto part! Different types of exhaust systems Clermont Toyota vehicles can be equipped with different types of exhaust systems that give vehicles different characteristics regarding fuel efficiency and performance. Each system includes a catalytic converter to filter fumes from fuel emissions, but all provide different benefits. Here are the five types of exhaust systems found in different Clermont Toyota vehicles: Single Exit Pipe The most common form of type of exhaust and found in many mass production vehicles. To see if a Clermont Toyota vehicle has a single exit pipe exhaust system, look to the rear and you can typically see a single pipe to the left or right side, below the bumper. Dual Rear Exit To give your Clermont Toyota a sportier look, this system uses two tail pipes and a louder, more aggressive sound. Using a straight pipe design, it expels waste more efficiently and creates a rumbling affect when the engine starts. Opposite Dual Exhaust Used on heavier vehicles like trucks and SUVs, opposite dual exhaust systems wrap around the rear wheels of the Clermont Toyota vehicle to add an extra layer to the gas filtering process. This system emits less residue and keeps whatever you’re towing clean. Dual Side Exhaust This system is a mix between single and dual by using two tail pipes on one side. This can give your vehicle the sound of a dual exhaust system without the higher price tag. High Performance It may have a larger price tag, but this system does a great job of filtering gas. It’s not typically found in stock Clermont Toyota models and is usually purchased aftermarket. High performance systems include benefits like pressure reduction, better filtration, and overall enhanced performance. If this is an option you want to consider for your vehicle, it requires a change of the engine manifold and, therefore, a higher price tag.
