Which car anti-theft device is best for your ride?

When it comes to protecting your vehicle, you probably know the basics. Look for a car that has an anti-theft system in it, park in well-lit areas with lots of foot traffic (and near a parking attendant or camera is there is one), and make sure you lock up tight when you leave. You also know not to store a spare key on the exterior of your car, and to keep valuables and electronics out of sight so thieves aren't even more tempted to break into your Clermont Toyota. Learn how to protect your ride with car anti-theft devices However, did you know there's an array car anti-theft devices that can take your security to a whole new level? Here are 5 options you may not have considered yet - and don't forget, Toyota of Clermont can help you track them down through our Toyota parts store. #1: Kill switch A kill switch probably isn't something you can install on your own, as it works against your car's fuel pump or electrical system to prevent the car from starting when a thief gets behind the wheel. It's typically installed in a nondescript place where it's difficult for the thief to find it, and you'll need a mechanic to get it up and running. However, when in place it can deactivate the fuel pump or prevent the flow of electricity to your car's components, ensuring the thief is going nowhere fast. #2: Steering wheel lock A steering wheel lock can't prevent a thief from getting into your Clermont Toyota, but this car anti-theft device can prevent them from going anywhere. It hooks up to your vehicle's steering wheel and keeps it from turning so your car is virtually impossible to drive. #3: GPS locator A GPS locator, like a steering wheel lock, won't prevent your car from being broken into. However, if it is stolen and removed from its parking spot, a GPS locator can track it to its next destination. These trackers are installed in a hidden spot in the car and registered with local law enforcement so your car can be found should it be stolen. #4: Tire lock or boot A tire lock or a boot can be a big pain if you get one put on your car for parking in the wrong area. The same concept applies to thieves. A tire lock prevents the tire from turning, so the car isn't getting very far. If you're going to be out of town or leaving your car parked and unattended for a while, this car anti-theft device is a great way to keep your ride in safe hands. #5: Baby monitor It may sound silly, but a baby monitor can actually service as a car anti-theft device! Stick it on the dash and you automatically have video and audio provided to you if someone breaks into your Clermont Toyota. On top of that, just the sight of a monitor can often deter thieves from breaking in in the first place. Toyota of Clermont can help you find the right protection for your ride Have questions or want to order a car anti-theft device? Say hi to the 2020 Toyota Corolla!

Everyone’s favorite Toyota compact sedan sported impressive looks for the 2019 model year and even got a hatchback version. All in all, 2018 and 2019 have been kind to the Toyota Corolla. But, 2019 is old news and it’s time to make room for the 2020 models. New models like the 2020 Toyota Supra have garnered praise from motorists and we expect the 12 th generation Toyota Corolla will do the same for the new model year. While we have to wait for the official release on Thursday, November 15 th, Toyota of Clermont is here with some initial details to get excited about! New Toyota compact sedan on the way The Clermont Toyota Corolla is a best seller and favorite among commuters for its dependability, fuel-efficiency, and spacious feel. For the 2019 model year, the Toyota compact sedan sported a handful of aesthetic improvements, but not an overall redesign. However, with the success and praise of the 2019 Toyota Corolla Hatchback, the Toyota Corolla sedan is likely due for a redesign for its 12 th generation. Via Twitter, Toyota teased the new Toyota compact sedan with a photo and the caption, “the world’s most popular car is about to get greater than ever.” The teaser photo looks promising with a newly redesigned front grille, headlights, and daytime running lights. Because of the massive success of the 2019 Clermont Toyota Corolla Hatchback, it’s likely that the new Corolla Sedan will draw inspiration in both body design and engineering from its new sister car. Unfortunately, no features or designs have been officially confirmed. But we can assume that the Clermont Toyota Corolla will likely be engineered to resemble the hatchback. Some features rumored to be included on this Toyota compact sedan are: A 2.0L inline-four engine that sports 168 horsepower and 151 pound-feet of torque. This is a drift away from the Corolla sedan’s previous 4-cylinder engine. An aggressive and sporty front end resembling the Clermont Toyota Corolla Hatchback. Better fuel efficiency with an estimated 36 combined mpg. Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 with cyclist and road sign detection. New Apple CarPlay and Amazon Alexa compatibility. While these feature details may just be speculation, we’ll get a better idea on Thursday during the livestream reveal of this new Toyota compact sedan. You can tune in to the reveal via this link: https://livestream.com/Toyota/Corolla Judging by previous model year Toyota compact sedans, it’s likely that the MSRP of the new Clermont Toyota Corolla will lie somewhere between $19,500 and $24,000. Toyota of Clermont tips

5 signs it's time to retire your used car

Are you thinking about retiring your used car? It can be hard to gauge when it's actually time to call it a day and sink your hard-earned money into something newer, more tech-savvy, and more reliable. However, Toyota of Clermont is here to help you better decide when you should hang up the keys and get into a new ride. Here are 5 signs it's time to retire your used car for good. Is it time to hand over the keys to your used car and find a new ride? Sign #1: You've been in a bad car accident. If you've been in a serious car accident and sustained pretty bad damage to your ride, it may be time to hand over the keys and get into something new. This is especially true if you have issues like frame damage or if insurance declares the car a total loss after inspecting it post-accident. Sign #2: You've got major rust issues. Have rust on your car? Small spots can be simple to fix, especially if you visit the Toyota Collision Center at our sister store, Toyota of Orlando. However, large or widespread patches of rust can mean very costly and difficult repairs that can eat up your time and budget. If you have bad rust, it may be time to call it quits with your used car. Sign #3: Replacement parts are getting harder to find. As cars get older, the parts get made less frequently. This means they can be harder to find AND more expensive to obtain. If you're having trouble getting the right parts to fix or update your ride, then you might want to consider sinking that money into something new instead. Sign #4: You need repairs and the cost exceeds the value of the car. So you need Orlando auto repairs—how much is it going to cost you to get your car back up and running? Estimate your car's value and if the cost of the repairs exceeds that, it's not financially responsible to keep dumping money into the vehicle. Instead, use that cash as a down payment on a new ride. Sign #5: You have a cracked or damaged engine block. Is your car a little less reliable than it used to be? Is it stalling out or having trouble getting started? Is your performance less than stellar? It's time to get under the hood and investigate. If you have serious damage to your engine block, then it may cost you a pretty penny to put things right. Weigh out the cost of the repairs versus the value of the car and consider skipping repairs, retiring your used car, and getting into something newer and more reliable.
