Historical Impact at its Best Toyota Land Cruiser You can't have a historical Toyota model list and exclude the legendary Land Cruiser. This Clermont Toyota SUV was designed as a Jeep-like off-roader for military use and quickly morphed into one of the most capable consumer vehicles out there. It's Toyota model history is unbelievably diverse. Ascending Mt. Fuji, getting a mega-sized off-shoot model, becoming the most luxurious model on the Toyota lineup, being one of the longest selling SUVs worldwide, and more. The Toyota model Land Cruiser has driven its way into the hearts of many Toyota fans and fans of driving worldwide. Unfortunately, it's being retired in North America for the foreseeable future, but we have a feeling it'll be back. Toyota Supra While it didn't begin its life as a cultural icon (the Supra actually received lukewarm reactions during its initial release(s)), it's undeniable that the Toyota model Supra carries a heavy influence in a world based on wheels and engines. It began as an offshoot of the Clermont Toyota Celica, named the Celica-Supra, and was eventually developed into its own moniker. Arguably, the 4th generation (MkIV) was/is the most impactful model to date. It was the personal ride of choice by Paul Walker's Brian O'Connor in the first movie of the Fast and Furious saga and has since become a beloved icon in the gearhead world. Not only because it was featured in a movie largely based on the subject, but because this model housed the legendary 2JZ engine layout that could be tuned to output crazy horsepower with minimal modifications. The Clermont Toyota model Supra was then retired and resurrected as the MkV in 2019 in collaboration with BMW. Will the New Toyota Aygo Come to North America?

Every model year brings with it new surprises that always put us in our happy place here at Toyota of Clermont. Recently we had the refresher of the Toyota Mirai, a new Sienna, and the Venza was revived! But, those gains don't come without significant losses. The Yaris is no longer being produced in North America and the Land Cruiser is heading for a speedy retirement (sad emoji). While the loss is hard to cope with, that doesn't mean we aren't excited for the new Toyota models that are soon to come down the pike. Three electrified vehicles (2 EV, 1 hybrid) are due soon for the North American market and there's some speculation out there that the Toyota Aygo might even make its way to Toyota of Clermont. Don't know what we're talking about? We're here with the deets! Some Background on the New Toyota Aygo The Toyota Aygo might not be on your radar and that's likely because it's exclusively a European-sold model. It was first marketed and sold in 2005 and has been a staple of the European "city car" segment ever since. In North America we'd likely equate this Clermont new Toyota with the Yaris and other compact vehicles. It sports a small inline 3-cylinder engine that gets 72 horsepower and 69 lb/ft of torque and can achieve a top speed of 98 mph. Obviously, many would laugh at these figures this side of the Atlantic, but for commuting around the narrow streets of many European cities, the Aygo is a godsend. North America could aptly be described as a commuter country where many major centers for business and leisure are far spaced. In many European countries this isn't the case and a compact vehicle that can traverse city streets is what many drivers go for. Especially when they can get up to 61 mpg, like the Aygo. The Aygo X Prologue and It's Possible Journey Overseas If you've been watching the headlines lately, you might have caught a glimpse of the the new Toyota Aygo X Prologue. Toyota recently released images of the new Clermont concept vehicle and my oh my is it edgy. If the C-HR and the Yaris were to ever have a lovechild (we ship it), this would most definitely be it. The sleek lines and fresh styling really appeal to the eyes and give this compact gas-sipper a unique look we'd love to see at the dealership. But, will it actually make its way to North America? Unfortunately, it's difficult to say and the likelihood is no. North America's vehicle market is predicated on size and power and the average vehicle size only continues to increase over the span of several model generations. The new Toyota Aygo is definitely an offering that would be welcomed (especially with how high gas prices are at the moment), but with it's underpowered engineering and compact design, it's not likely. Especially when considering that the Yaris is being removed from production, leaving the Corolla the most compact offering in this part of the world. choosing a new car

Toyota of Clermont talks daily drivers and how to choose the right one

If you're like a lot of people, you spend a fair amount of time behind the wheel of your car. Whether you're carting kids to school, commuting to work, delivering goods or services, or just getting around town, you want to ensure that your daily driver - the vehicle you hit the road in on a routine basis - is exactly what you need. Toyota of Clermont is here to help! Toyota of Clermont explains daily drivers Plenty of drivers have multiple cars - their daily driver and their "other" car. It might be a vintage car that they're slowly restoring in the comfort of their own garage or a truck that's used for work purposes to tow and haul heavy loads when the job calls for it. Or maybe they have a performance-based ride - a truck designed specifically for off-roading or a sports car that sticks to the track only and never sees the inside of a grocery store parking lot. But regardless of whether you have an "other" vehicle, you still need a daily driver to get you where you need to go. Here are four tips for choosing the right new car for the job. Four tips for choosing the right new car #1: Think about comfort and space. Your daily driver is just that - something that you're going to pilot every single day and possibly over long stretches of time, depending on your schedule and commute. You want to ensure that the interior of your new car is both comfortable and ergonomically designed so you can easily reach everything you need. You also want to make sure you have enough interior space for all of your daily responsibilities. Are you driving kids to school or part of a carpool? Do you need interior cargo space to get your gear around town, or can you put it in a truck bed? What about car seats - will you have multiples in the backseat? #2: Take fuel efficiency into consideration. Is fuel efficiency going to be a deciding factor when you're shopping for a new car? If you drive a long commute every day or don't want to spend too much money on gas, you may want to consider a Clermont Toyota hybrid for your new vehicle. Make sure you do a spot of research into MPGs before signing the dotted line. #3: Don't forget about special performance capabilities. Will you need any special abilities in your daily driver? If your commute sees you taking things off the pavement or pulling heavy loads behind you, then you want your new car to have the right tools to get the job done. If you're only completing these tasks every once in a while, you may be able to get by with an "other" car for these purposes. Make sure you factor all of this into your shopping process. #4: Consider how long you'll keep your new car. How long do you plan on keeping your new car? If you're someone who doesn't drive a ton of daily mileage and likes to change your car pretty often, then you may want to lease your daily driver. If you drive a lot or want to keep the car for a while and sell it down the road, ensure you purchase something with great reliability and high resale value. Have questions or want to shop our new cars for your next daily driver? Call Toyota of Clermont today at (352) 404-7000. We're open seven days a week for your convenience at 16851 State Road 50.

car platform

What is a car platform and why does it matter?

When you shop for a new car - for example, a new Clermont Toyota - you want to make sure that you familiarize yourself with all of its abilities and features before you sign the dotted line, right? You'll undoubtedly look at things like engine type and size, seating, cargo space, entertainment and safety technology, performance and convenience features, and more. However, one thing you should probably know about (and probably have never thought to consider) is the car platform. Not sure what it is or why it matters? Toyota of Clermont is here to help explain. Car platforms, explained To put it simply, a car platform is a structure that the car is built on. You can think of it sort as like a foundation for a house - it starts the process and then everything else is added on top of it. The foundation also affects the further design and features of the car, so it's important to have a solid one. A car platform is similar and can encompass elements like chassis design, body aesthetics, and engineering points. To be more specific, the car platform often determines elements like: The front and rear axle design as well as the wheelbase (the distance between the two axles) The power steering system and other steering parts The type of engine, engine placement, and powertrain The types of suspension both in the rear and front of the car Another cool thing about car platforms is that they can be shared, believe it or not, and not just among models in the same make (for example, not just between different Clermont Toyotas). Car platforms are actually shared across makes. But why? Well, the long and short of it is that car design is costly and time-consuming. A lot of preparation, research, and work goes into the design, assembly, and testing of each individual vehicle. If automakers can share car platforms among themselves, they can cut out quite a few steps. A good example of this is the Toyota 86 and Subaru BRZ - these cars share the same platform. The benefits of sharing platforms across makes and models Sharing car platforms has perks for you as the consumer, too, including: Cheaper prices. If automakers don't have to design a new platform for every single model they produce, they can save money and in turn sell you the cars for less. Better reliability. Although some steps get cut out when automakers share platforms, testing definitely doesn't. This means you have multiple vehicles testing the same platform and looking for any issues, which means you get the peace of mind you deserve when you're behind the wheel. Familiarity. Oftentimes it can be a little jarring to move from one model to another because they drive differently. If cars share platforms, they ride and drive similarly and the transition can be a bit easier for you as a driver. Now that you know everything you need to know, why not get shopping? You can see all of our Clermont Toyotas in person and find the perfect new ride. Visit Toyota of Clermont at 16851 State Road 50, just west of the Florida Turnpike, or call us at (352) 404-7000.

Clermont Toyota Supra info

An Epic History of the Epic Toyota Supra

The Toyota Supra. A legend in its own right and a truly iconic sportscar. This Toyota coupe has had quite the historical ride and follow up resurrection that was long overdue. In honor of this iconic moniker, we at Toyota of Clermont are chronicling the journey of the Supra, so far. Check out this car's history and more below! Where the Toyota Supra has Been and Where it's Going Beginning in 1978 the Clermont Toyota Supra was introduced to the world and since then we've been graced with 5 generations. Here are the finer points of the Supra's history on and off the Toyota lineup. Gen 1) A40/A50 The first generation of the Toyota Supra was actually born as an offshoot of the Toyota Celica that was widely popular at the time. In fact, the Toyota Supra carried the name Celica Supra for a while before getting its own moniker. For the Japanese market the Supra was known as the Celica XX and Celica Supra in the states. Some features of the original iteration included a 4-speed automatic or 5-speed manual transmission, four-link rear suspension, MacPherson strut front suspension, and disc brakes. This generation lasted until 1980. Gen 2) A60 For the second generation, the Clermont Toyota Supra was introduced in 1981 and was available in either a Performance (P-Type) and Luxury (L-Type) submodel. Mechanically, these two models were identical but presented different exterior looks. The L-Type made use of bougie aesthetics with leather seating, digital instrumentation, and more. The P-Type upped the horsepower significantly and included different exterior styling to give off speedier vibe. Gen 3) A70 Jumping to 1986, the third generation Clermont Toyota Supra, the A70, was made available. This is generation in which the Supra went solo and dropped the "Celica" from its name. The A70 was engineered with 200 horsepower and a 3.0L inline six cylinder under the hood along with a rear-wheel drivetrain. Customers could also add an optional turbocharger if they were looking for a little extra kick. Not only was this model more powerful, it also included features like 3-channel ABS, Acoustic Control Induction System, and double wishbone suspension. Gen 4) A80 What was to be the final generation of the iconic Toyota Supra. The A80 generation  was offered with two engine options including a naturally aspirated inline-six engine that repped 210 horsepower and a twin-turbocharged that could push 276 horsepower. This generation came equipped with integral features like dual airbags, traction control, and more. But, it was built lighter so as to achieve higher speeds. Unfortunately, due to declining sales and lack of enthusiasm from the North American market, the Supra was retired. For the moment. Gen 5) GR Supra Fast forward to today and you have the new Clermont GR Toyota Supra that was introduced in 2019. This collaborative project with BMW is based on the Z4. This new model Toyota sportscar is quite a step up aesthetically and engineering-wise from its predecessor and we're head over heels with how it turned out. If you're ready to check out the Toyota Supra, come shop for one with us at Toyota of Clermont! We're open seven days a week and located at 16851 State Road 50.

Toyota Mirai for sale in Clermont

The Toyota Mirai is Coming This December!

The holiday season will definitely look much different this year (please wear a mask and socially distance), but there are still quite a few things to celebrate. One thing is the imminent arrival of the 2021 Toyota Mirai this December! The world's first production hydrogen fuel-cell vehicle is set to arrive at dealerships with new style, new features, and huge amount of alternative fuel sourced swag. Toyota of Clermont is here with the latest and official details on the upcoming Mirai so you can get ready for its arrival in December! The Toyota Mirai Coming Soon It's been an interesting journey for the Mirai. The world's first hydrogen fuel-cell powered vehicle arrived to dealerships five years ago with mixed perception due to its design and the lack of proper fueling infrastructure. Toyota is aiming to change that with a reinvigorated design that speaks sporty luxury that will, in theory, drive enthusiasm and additional funding for hydrogen fueling stations in more places. Here are the key confirmed features you can expect to see on the Clermont Toyota Mirai: Basics The 2021 Toyota Mirai will be available in 2 trim grades, XLE and Limited. For the 2021 model year, the Mirai will adopt a whole new look featuring a rear-wheel drive platform, longer and wider stance, aerodynamic body design, and optional 20-inch wheels. It will be available paint color options like Oxygen White, Black, Supersonic Red, Heavy Metal, and Hydro Blue. Technology Every trim grade of the Clermont Toyota Mirai will come equipped with a 12.3-inch multimedia touchscreen infotainment display. A 14 speaker JBL sound system with subwoofer and amplifier will be standard. Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and Amazon Alexa all included. A Qi-wireless charging tray will also be standard on each trim grade. The XLE grade Toyota Mirai will come equipped with dual-zone climate control, heated front seats, and manual rear seat sunshades. Limited grades will include a standard Bird's Eye View Camera along with Intelligent Park Assist and panoramic moonroof. Safety The Clermont Mirai will come equipped with Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+. This suite of safety features enhances existing programs and protocols. Full-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control has been improved to maintain a vehicle's length of distance between the Mirai and the vehicle in front. This feature can automatically slow your vehicle to 0 mph and gradually accelerate in speed until your chosen mph is reached. Pre-Collision System has also been improved to detect preceding bicyclists during the day and pedestrians in low light. The system can also detect other vehicles and pedestrians when performing a left-hand turn and will provide visual and auditory warnings in certain conditions. Shop Alternative Fuel Vehicles with Toyota of Clermont The Toyota Mirai will be available in December but it's unlikely to be available here at Toyota of Clermont. Due to a lack of fueling infrastructure available on this side of the United States it's not likely we'll see one in our inventory. But, you can still shop for one of the many hybrid Toyota models with us today! Shop our inventory online today or visit the dealership at 16851 State Road 50.

New Toyota 4Runner Coming in 2023? Find Out Here!

Apart from being the fan-favorite Toyota model in the lineup and being one of the last North American models still assembled in Japan, the Toyota 4Runner is consistent. In fact we've often referred to this iconic off-roader as the king of consistency. For the better part of 11 years, the fifth model generation has been available at dealerships and commanding trails. While we at Toyota of Clermont are thoroughly enamored by the current model year, even we have to admit that change is long overdue for 4Runner. Whether it be now or later, a large-scale overhaul is due for the popular Toyota SUV and we've seen some rumors that seemingly confirm this. If you want to know more, read along with us at Toyota of Clermont! What Might Be in Store for a New Toyota 4Runner The Toyota 4Runner has been in its 5th generation since 2009 and many drivers are clamoring for a change to the body-on-frame SUV. While Toyota has not confirmed anything regarding a new generation 4Runner and what features it might have, many fans have been speculating a laundry list of changes they want to see happen. Engineering Toyota is rumored to be making large-scale changes to the engineering features in many Clermont models. Larger models like the Tundra and Toyota 4Runner have largely remained untouched but that could all change soon. After all, Toyota has vowed to offer some form of electrification in its vehicles in the near future. For the 4Runner, this could mean the introduction of a hybrid drivetrain. This could vastly improve the fuel efficiency of this meaty Clermont Toyota SUV and add a bit of extra speed to its wheel house. There's also an idea floating around that there could be several engine options available on the next generation Toyota 4Runner. Many fans favor the current 4.0-liter V6, but adding larger and smaller options could reduce the overall cost and prime the Clermont 4Runner for wider appeal. It's also possible that Toyota could integrate a turbocharger or other options in a new generation. Exterior As with all generational shifts there's a dramatic exterior design overhaul. We expect nothing less for the Clermont Toyota 4Runner. But, what would that look like? More than likely, Toyota will retain the high-profile and muscular design of the current 4Runner. However, the front grille is likely to change along with the rear-end, and sides. Due to the popularity of enhanced special editions for this generation, the next generation 4Runner might include accessories like roof baskets, tow kits, and other off-roading gear standard. Interior Again, new generations mean large-scale changes to just about everything. The interior of the current generation Toyota 4Runner has received its fair share of complaints. For a new generation of this Clermont Toyota SUV you can likely expect to see new infotainment options, a wider array of upholstery materials to choose from, better stylistic elements, and better space distribution. One thing's for sure, the power rear-window needs to stay!
