Will Toyota Ever Have an Electric Car?

The history of the automobile can be characterized almost like a waltz of sorts. People have led the dance while vehicles have followed with adaptations and additions to meet the needs of drivers of the day and age. Where we once had hand cranks to turn over the engine we now have push-button start. Lanterns gave way to LED headlamps and the formula for 4 wheels and engine continues to evolve with the times. The automotive industry is always going places and today it's venturing into battery and electric power. Yes, electric cars are growing in popularity each year and almost every major auto brand has announced their own spin on the concept. Almost every one, except for our beloved Toyota. By now you're probably asking yourself, why doesn't Toyota have an electric car on its lineup yet? Well, we at Toyota of Clermont have some ideas as to why that is. Where's Toyota's Electric Car Hiding? Being one of the globe's leading automotive brands in terms of reputation, sales, and profitability, Toyota has always pushed the envelope when it comes to their vehicles. Our beloved Clermont brand is recognizable almost anywhere and it's technology widely advanced. But, why doesn't Toyota have an EV on its lineup yet? Looking at Toyota's past business decisions and history might offer us some clues. Toyota is Currently Pursuing on Alternative Fueling Methods While Clermont electric cars are definitely greener for the environment as they don't use gasoline and emit no harmful emissions, battery production and disposal is still a contentious issue. Toyota has instead opted to explore hydrogen fuel cell technology with large semi-trucks and the Toyota Mirai. This technology emits only water as a result of fuel usage. Hybrids. Hybrids. Hybrids. It's no secret that Toyota is heavily invested in its hybrid car technology. Being the company that put this technology on the map back in the 90s with the first iteration of the Prius, Toyota has come a long way with its gasoline-electric fusion vehicles. Today we proudly offer many hybrid vehicles at Toyota of Clermont that outperform and are more efficient than their strictly gasoline counterparts. Quick Charging Infrastructure is Still a Ways Off Clermont electric cars offer excellent convenience by being able to be charged wherever you can find a plug. But, unless you plan on not driving for an entire day or two this isn't always feasible. Plus it's a great way to run up your electric bill. Many EV drivers prefer to use quick charging stations but they're not widely available in every area, thus limiting the market for EVs. This could be a plausible reason why Toyota has yet to invest heavily in electric car tech, but wouldn't make sense given the even less available infrastructure of hydrogen fuel-cell tech. Toyota Has Made an EV Before Believe it or not, Toyota has actually made an EV before and it was a project vehicle with Tesla (before the odd chef comments from Akio Toyoda and the apparent beef). The Clermont Toyota RAV4 EV ran solely on electric power from a battery pack. This afforded it about 100 miles of low speed cruising range. Because of its limitations this project was shelved and Toyota hasn't attempted a complete EV since. Shop for an Electrified Ride with Toyota of Clermont Today! New Toyota News Roundup (11/23)

Whatever's going on in the world at any given time, you can always be rest assured that Toyota will keep making moves and headlines. Like we always say, keeping up with the latest Toyota news can be a bit difficult. But, we at Toyota of Clermont consider ourselves aficionados when it comes to the Toyota brand and we always stay up to date on the latest. This week we have stories ranging from spy photos of the 2022 Toyota Tundra to what's next for the Toyota Crown. Check out the latest Toyota news right here! New Toyota News All in One Place The Toyota Crown is Dead? As of this writing it's not certain if the Toyota Crown is actually being eliminated from Toyota's lineup in Japan, but it seems the perfect storm for that to be true. The Clermont Crown has been a staple of Toyota's lineup since 1955. It was the first Toyota vehicle to make it to the United States and a nameplate almost all Japanese residents have come to admire over its 65 year history. Now in it's 15th generation, the Crown has enjoyed success over its long history. But now it seems that success has reached an end. Many young drivers opt for different vehicles and have shifted the market. The typical consumer of the Crown is now much older and sales have been dwindling. Combine that with the current COVID-19 pandemic and a report from major Japanese newspaper, Chunichi Shimbun, and you have a broken Clermont new Toyota Crown. 2022 Toyota Tundra Camo Spy Shots Here at Toyota of Clermont the mention of spy shots is enough to make us giddy with excitement. We've been speculating quite recently as to what form the new Toyota Tundra will take and it looks like we won't have to keep guessing for much longer. Spy shots have been released of the upcoming Tundra and my does it look amazing! From what we can tell from the photos, the Tundra will likely be getting a much needed design overhaul. The front grille looks to be larger with redesigned headlights and accent pieces. The cabin itself is much larger and likely to be designed differently than older model years. Unfortunately, we can't tell exactly what this Toyota truck will look like when it reaches Toyota of Clermont yet, but we're confident we're in for a treat with this one. 2022 BRZ Twin Coming Soon The new Toyota formerly known as the Scion FR-S is likely to be getting a new model year soon. The questions are when and what will it look like? To hold us over until we get spy photos or an official confirmation, several automotive press outlets have speculated on what we can expect to see from this Clermont Toyota model. More than likely, the Toyota 86 will come equipped with additional power in the engineering department, significant design updates to the interior and exterior, new suspension, and likely a different price tag. With any luck we should be able to get behind the wheel of the Supra's younger sibling sometime next year! Shop With us at Toyota of Clermont Today! While we wait for these new Toyota models to release, come shop with us at Toyota of Clermont today! We're located at 16851 State Road 50 and open seven days a week.

There will also be a central plaza, several parks and social locations, more. Clermont Toyota Mirai for sale

The New Toyota Mirai is Coming Soon!

It's been a while since we revealed the second generation Toyota Mirai to you, our readers, so you might be wondering how things are shaping up for this amazing and stylish new alternative fuel vehicle? When it is releasing? Will it be available at Toyota of Clermont? What are the final draft features it will have available? Luckily, we have the latest scoop on this new hydrogen fuel cell vehicle right here so read on for more! The Next Generation Toyota Mirai is Almost Here! The second generation Toyota Mirai was revealed several months ago much to everyone's surprise and astonishment. Having undergone a complete style rework, the Mirai no longer looks like a Prius that runs on hydrogen-based fuel. No, this Clermont Toyota alternative fuel vehicle stands on its own and does so in the most impressive of ways. However, most people might have forgotten about this amazing bit of news with several Toyota news events and a global pandemic happening since then. The Toyota Mirai is still a bit of an odd-duck as it's primarily available on the west coast and there's not much infrastructure in Clermont to accommodate its fueling needs. That might all change with the release of the second generation model. Recently, the second generation Toyota Mirai was spotted on practical road tests (in camouflage of course). According to the photos we've seen here at Toyota of Clermont, the Mirai is going to be staying true to its initial designs from the reveal events from last year. With odes to the Camry and Avalon, smoother lines, a lower stance, and premium RWD TNGA platform, this new ride is ready to perform. The new Toyota Mirai will also include updated interior features like: A leather-trimmed interior Qi-wireless charging for your smartphone and other compatible devices A larger touch-screen infotainment interface A 14-speaker JBL sound system And digital instrumentation. While we're impressed with the interior feature upgrades of the new Clermont Toyota Mirai, the performance features are what's really getting us excited. While the previous iteration of the Mirai managed an impressive 312-mile range on a full tank of hydrogen fuel, the new generation can achieve 400 miles on a tank. The new Mirai is also equipped with rear-wheel drive which offers superior acceleration and improved handling. The wheel base is also lower and longer to offer enhanced comfort for yourself and passengers. As we said, the new Toyota Mirai is impressive and truly an eye-catching ride. However, we're still not sure if it will arrive to Toyota of Clermont. The second generation model will likely drum up the necessary enthusiasm for this vehicle, but the infrastructure needed for fueling and logistical commuting will likely take some time to come to fruition. For now, the best way to achieve your dreams of driving a Toyota Mirai (without having to pack up and move to a different city) is by staying up to date on the latest hydrogen fuel technology news and always advocating for it to be provided in your area. If you have questions about hydrogen fuel cell vehicles like the Toyota Mirai or want to get behind the wheel of a different alternative fuel vehicle like one of our hybrids, visit Toyota of Clermont today at 16851 State Road 50 or shop our inventory online today.

Clermont Toyota Land Cruiser for sale

The End of an Era: Toyota Land Cruiser

For generations, the Toyota Land Cruiser has been a staple of Toyota’s lineup. This once rugged off-roader has seen every evolution and rendition under the sun and is now one of the most luxurious models we have here at Toyota of Clermont. Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end and the sun is setting for the Land Cruiser. We at Toyota of Clermont are sad to see this heritage heavy model depart, but we’re here to discuss the recent news. Check it out right here! It’s Time to Say Goodbye to a Legend The Toyota Land Cruiser is one of North America’s longest running nameplates and one of the most original Toyota models on the Clermont lineup. There have been many rumors concerning the next steps for the legendary off-roader. We recently reported rumors that the Toyota Land Cruiser would be ditching the frills and luxury options for something more off-roading centric. While this idea had many fans (and us) thrilled as it likely meant the Land Cruiser would be approaching a more agreeable price point, it seems those hopes and dreams have been quashed. A report from Motor Authority details that an anonymous dealership employee disclosed that the Toyota Land Cruiser would not be renewed for another model year and will not be retuning to Toyota of Clermont in the foreseeable future. This news comes as Toyota unveiled a few new features for the 2021 Land Cruiser and continued the Heritage Edition from the previous model year. But like with all rumors, you should take this news with a grain of salt. The Land Cruiser is one of Toyota’s longest running Clermont nameplates and there are several creative directions they can take with it. This model does still enjoy a substantial following among many off-roading circles. A main downfall of this model is the lack of good sales figures which many attribute to its very high price point. Toyota has not confirmed this report and have not confirmed any forward motion for the Cruiser as of this writing. So, in summation, who knows? Next Stages for the Toyota Land Cruiser While the report claims that the Clermont Land Cruiser will be ending its run in North America, that doesn’t mean it will be finished in other markets. More than likely the Land Cruiser will be upgraded to the 300-Series model in coming years. But what does that mean for the North American lineup? With the departure of the Toyota Land Cruiser, the Sequoia will reign as the largest vehicle on the lineup. An interesting point in the story is that the Lexus equivalent of the Land Cruiser, the Clermont LX, will still be produced in North America. Like we said, it’s hard to know what the future will hold so we suggest you enjoy the Land Cruiser as much as you can before it’s gone!   If you’re looking to get behind the wheel of a Toyota Land Cruiser today, visit us at Toyota of Clermont!
